Shaquille O’Neal will always be known as one of basketball’s legendary big men. However, the retired NBA center who won four championships during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat is now making a name for himself as a restauranteur thanks to one of Las Vegas’ newest restaurants, Big Chicken. Located across the street from Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the fast-casual eatery opened in October 2018 to much fanfare, as O’Neal documented the process of opening the restaurant with his own Facebook Watch series, “Big Chicken Shaq.”

“The food really is the star,” O’Neal said. “We focused on bringing the best quality product at a price point that is lower than most of the other celebrity-driven restaurants.” Big Chicken’s NAKED TRUTH Premium Chicken is not only preservative free, but also humanely raised with no cages, hormones or antibiotics. Guests can enjoy the chicken either crispy or grilled in an assortment of tasty sandwiches—like the bold Shaq Fu BBQ topped with house kimchi, pork belly and Korean BBQ sauce—or lightly breaded as chicken strips. A variety of sides and salads are available, too, including O’Neal’s favorite childhood dish, macaroni and cheese, made just the way his mom makes it: with a CheezIt crust. O’Neal plans on expanding Big Chicken to several more cities across the nation, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be at the Las Vegas location often. “I wanted to bring the fans in on the process and make it feel like it was something we built together,” O’Neal told Sunseeker. “At the end of the day, they will be the ones judging the experience, so why not get their input from the beginning?”
O’Neal noted that his time in the NBA taught him that people always need a team to be successful, so not only did he implement some of the fan feedback he received while filming the series when opening Big Chicken, but he also surrounded himself with the best restaurant operators, designers, chefs and staff members he could find. That doesn’t mean O’Neal wasn’t very hands-on during the decision-making process, as he was a part of as many meetings and phone calls as possible, especially when it came to the food.

When former record producer Vinny Adinolfi followed the advice of his friend, actor Chazz Palminteri, to start a band with his two musically gifted sons, Vin A. and Nicky, the talented vocalist had a game plan. “I told my kids Las Vegas would be the endgame,” Adinolfi said. “We would play every little restaurant or show we were offered for five years, then tour for the next five and lose as much money as we could afford trying to become a national act people knew about. Then we’d play Las Vegas.”
Although Adinolfi was losing on average $2,000 a gig while touring, the gamble paid off. In September 2016, he and his sons—better known as The Bronx Wanderers—landed their own show in the 250-seat Windows Showroom at Bally’s Las Vegas. One of the Strip’s hidden gems for more than two years, the nostalgic concert production, which celebrates the music of acts like Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons and Dion and the Belmonts, moved to the more spacious 650-seat Mat Franco Theater at The LINQ Hotel & Casino in January after the Windows Showroom closed to become a magic-based venue. “We could have moved to a smaller room, which would have been a sure bet, but the kids wanted the larger room,” Adinolfi stated. “Truthfully, we’re used to bigger crowds, having played at 1,000-seat performing arts centers on the road.”

The larger venue not only gives The Bronx Wanderers the space onstage to put the family trio front and center, but also does more for the show’s production value thanks to a video wall. Adinolfi said he hopes the new videos take audiences on a journey with each song the group plays, like transporting them to the beach for The Bronx Wanderers’ fun surf medley. Since the new show schedule includes a matinee performance on Sunday, Adinolfi is hoping to switch up the set list a bit, too, playing more to the demographic at each show. Regardless of whether the guys are playing Bruno Mars or Billy Joel, audiences of all ages are in for a great time.

Magic aficionados visiting Las Vegas in early March might be disappointed to learn that Penn & Teller’s long-running show at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino will be dark through March 8. However, visitors are in for a special treat, as they can still see the legendary magicians perform live when they film their hit TV series, “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” inside the Rio’s Penn & Teller Theater March 1 through 7. Available on a first come, first served basis through the Rio box office, tickets to attend the tapings are free for those who want a sneak peek at the upcoming season of “Fool Us.” For, even though the show will be filming new episodes in March, they won’t start airing on the CW until early July. Now entering its sixth
season, Penn Jillette credits part of the series’ success with the fact that it’s not based on whether or not the magicians on the show can impress Penn & Teller with their skills, but on whether or not they can fool them. “Unlike many other talent competition shows on TV, we are not judging contestants based on talent or on our own personal tastes—they’ve already made it on proving they are some of the best magicians around,” Jillette told Sunseeker. “It’s whether or not they can fool us. We have no idea who is booked on the show— we have no say. We are seeing [the magicians] for the first time the exact same moment as the audience. I think that format coupled with some of the best magic ever performed on TV is part of its success.” Jillette said he and Teller got the idea for the series years ago when talent competition shows first started becoming popular and thought that the idea of contestants being judged not by their talent but instead on the element of skill to fool the judges was “different and kind of nice.” The result is a show that’s not only entertained millions of viewers, but also ranks high with Jillette among the many TV shows he and Teller have done. “It’s probably the best show I’ve ever worked on, and I’m not saying that just because I produce it, star on it and created it," Jillette said.

each episode by trying to fool the audience with an illusion of their own. The duo often comes up with inventive new illusions just for the TV show, which is quite impressive considering the arsenal of tricks they have at their disposal. Jillette has said in the past that he and Teller have eight hours of material for their 90-minute Las Vegas production, so even six seasons into “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” they are in no danger of running out of illusions to film. One of the new tricks Penn & Teller have been working on for the upcoming season is actually an interactive illusion where audiences decide whether or not they want to see how the trick is done. Guests (and viewers at home) are simply told to close their eyes if they want to maintain the mystery. Fans who get tickets to see Penn & Teller’s Las Vegas production after “Fool Us” tapes its next season are still likely to see the revealing new illusion, as well as some of the other new illusions filmed for the series, as the duo tends to add them to the show to rehearse the tricks prior to filming. Ticket holders will see several other new bits introduced to the show in recent years, too, including a trick six years in the making where Penn & Teller make an African pigmy spotted elephant disappear. Never ones to rest on their laurels, the longtime Las Vegas headliners, who just celebrated their 18th anniversary at the Rio, continue to challenge themselves 44 years into their career by constantly working on astounding new illusions for the show that Jillette called “the hardest stuff anyone has ever done.” “The only reason to do anything new now is because it’s hard,”said Jillette, who first met Teller in 1975 when they and a mutual friend started to perform together as the Asparagus D e s t i n at i o n ▪ L a s V e g a s

Not only is the city home to quite a few sidesplitting headliners, but it also boasts several hilarious comedy clubs—including one run by the man behind television’s favorite oftneglected big brother, Robert Barone. BRAD GARRETT’S COMEDY CLUB AT MGM GRAND Featuring comedy-inspired artwork on its walls, this 250-seat club boasts a lineup of established stand-up stars and up-and-coming comics handpicked by the “Everybody Loves Raymond” actor himself. Garrett actually hosts the show on select nights, too, interacting with ticket holders as he unleashes his hilarious brand of insult comedy. Celebrating its 16th anniversary in March, The Colosseum at Caesars Palace has hosted some of the world’s most acclaimed entertainers since opening in 2003. However, Daryl Hall and John Oates may be the only artists to perform at the venue to have their own hotline, Callin’ Oates, where fans can call a phone number to hear one of four songs by the legendary duo at the press of a button. “It’s a funny thing,” said Oates when asked about the hotline, which was created by two friends in 2011 when one of them needed to create an app for his new job at the cloud communications company, Twilio. “At first I didn’t understand it and was like, ‘Who is this Silicon Valley guy using our name?’ But, living in a digital world where everything moves so quickly, anything that brings notice to you helps.” The hotline is a testament to the rich catalog of music Daryl Hall and John Oates have put out together, which includes such timeless tracks as “Rich Girl,” “Maneater” and “Private Eyes”—all well-crafted songs that, as Oates pointed out, “not only resonated with the generation that heard them initially, but also future generations.” Fans will get to hear those hits as well as many others when the best-selling duo in music history returns to The Colosseum March 20, 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. 3 2 ▪ h e a d l i n e r E N t e rta i n m e n t
“It’s a big world out there, and you can only tour so many dates,” Oates replied when asked why he and Hall haven’t performed at The Colosseum since 2014. “We’ve been playing Las Vegas for years, though, and it’s a great entertainment destination. If a song ever feels long in the tooth, we’ll drop it. there’s no word yet on whether she’ll extend her residency past this November. The ageless blonde beauty said that having a Las Vegas residency has left her creatively inspired, so fans should make time to see the production while they can.
Featuring nearly all of Stefani’s hit singles as both a solo artist and the lead singer of No Doubt, the 90-minute spectacle is unlike anything the threetime Grammy Award winner has done before.
“It’s hard to brag about your own show, but I feel like I’m at a place where I don’t know how much longer I’m going to be able to do it and this is the moment,” Stefani concluded. “I really hope people come out to see it because it’s definitely my favorite thing I’ve ever done onstage.”
“With the residency, I’ve been able to be more theatrical and create a different type of production,” Stefani told Sunseeker. “It took my whole career to build up to a show like this and to build a story like the one we’re doing in Vegas. It’s really the story of my entire life journey and the songs that built up to this moment.”

Stefani admitted that even though some time has passed since she penned some of her most personal songs, like 1995’s “Don’t Speak” and 2015’s “Used to Love You,” for the most part she still goes back to wherever she was emotionally whenever she performs the numbers. While that may sound tiring, Stefani actually enjoys reliving each moment. “I feel like it’s unbelievably therapeutic to be able to put my life onstage and have people come out and have a really emotional kind of nostalgic night with me,” she said. “There’s a magic to a hit that you just can’t even imagine. With approximately half of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s superheroes having fallen victim to Thanos’ deadly snap at the end of “Avengers: Infinity War,” Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk and the rest of the Avengers need some help now more than ever. Luckily, Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is located inside Treasure Island, so Allegiant passengers traveling to Las Vegas can go through the transformational process of becoming a Station Agent.

Featuring state-of-the-art technology and digital special effects, the exciting exhibition brings to life the popular film franchise with an extensive range of authentic “Avengers” props, sets and operational equipment. Visitors will see several of the Avengers’ uniforms up close—including Captain America’s, Hawkeye’s and Black Widow’s—and get the chance to take photographs with Captain America’s shield, in front of the Hulkbuster suit and even sitting on Captain America’s motorcycle. While reading through intelligence files and classified studies, guests can also participate in several fun interactive experiences. One such experience in Bruce Banner’s laboratory actually shows guests how their own strength measures up to various characters from the films, including members of the evil organization, Hydra. Another interactive experience has participants playing a video game where they shoot targets by blinking their eyes, making players feel like they’re inside the iconic Iron Man suit. The self-guided tour concludes with guests being assigned an Avenger at random and fighting off Ultron alongside other agent trainees in a multiplayer video game. Home to the world’s tallest observation wheel and the only zipline on the Las Vegas Strip, The LINQ Promenade isn’t your typical open-air retail, entertainment and dining district. Since opening in December 2013, The LINQ Promenade has become one of the Strip’s most popular destinations. Located just 120 miles away, the Grand Canyon is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and offers not only awe-inspiring views but the opportunity to experience Native American culture. From Las Vegas, there are three main ways to experience the Grand Canyon: by bus (or car), by helicopter and by boat. Each way has its own advantages, but don’t worry! If you can’t decide, some companies offer packages combining all three.

BY BUS Bus tours from Las Vegas to the West Rim are one of the easiest—and most popular—ways to explore the Grand Canyon. Most, like Canyon Tours, provide complimentary hotel pick up and drop off, narration as you pass points of interest and lunch during your four hour stay at the West Rim. Depending on the tour you book, you may be able to add a helicopter ride or the Skywalk to your visit for an additional fee. If you have the opportunity, don’t miss the Skywalk, an open-air, glass walkway that extends 70 feet from the edge, allowing you to look 4,000 feet below to the canyon floor. Arizona’s Cactus League has been a rite of spring since 1947, perpetually drawing more and more fans from the cooler climes of their home cities to the desert dwellings of the 15 major league teams residing in the Valley of the Sun from mid-February to the end of March. While the spring exhibition games do not count in the regular standings, the competition is as fierce as ever. Hoping to reclaim the glory of their 2016 World Series Championship, The Chicago Cubs are playing their home games at Sloan Park in Mesa, the league’s popular and newest venue, opened in 2014. The Los Angeles Dodgers are entering the team’s 11th year as shared tenants of the sprawling and spacious Camelback Ranch facility in Glendale with their Chicago White Sox partners. The Colorado Rockies and NL West division rival Arizona Diamondbacks have shared the spectacular Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, located on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian
Community adjacent to Scottsdale and just across Arizona State Loop 101 from the Talking Stick Resort and Casino, since 2011. The feel good story of the 2018 season, the Brewers are optimistically entering the 2019 season at their recently remodeled Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix which the team has called home since 1998. Renovations to the ballpark facility include a new wide-open entry plaza located directly behind home plate providing a view of the ballpark that previously did not exist. Both the home team and visitor’s clubhouses have been renovated and all of the training facilities have been upgraded. Fans will appreciate newly refurbished and expanded parking lots, concession stands, restrooms and a wider concourse as well as newly landscaped exterior. While the rise of the Brewers proved to be the biggest story in the National League, the Oakland A’s were the most surprising

contenders to emerge from the American League. After three consecutive last place finishes the A’s managed to win 97 games and capture the American League’s second wild card playoff spot, before losing the qualifying game to the Yankees. The A’s play their spring training games at Hohokam Park, formerly the home of the Chicago Cubs, located two miles north of downtown Mesa.

The biggest individual story of last season was the signing of 24-year-old Japanese freeagent, two-way player (pitcher and designated hitter) Shohei Ohtani by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Ohtani made his spring training debut on Feb. 24, 2018 with the Angels at Tempe Diablo Stadium, the Cactus League’s oldest ballpark located just off US 60. Looking like a perennial powerhouse, the Cleveland Indians won their third straight American League Central title in 2018 and seem to have all the pieces to make another run in 2019. The Indians share the Goodyear Ballpark in the fast growing west Phoenix enclave of Goodyear, Arizona, with their crossstate, cross league rival Cincinnati Reds. Also located on the Cactus League’s western fringe, Surprise Stadium has been the shared spring training facility of the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers since 2003, and hosted the Arizona Fall League’s (MLB’s premier development league) Fall Stars Game in November of 2018. Back in 1994, the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners became the first major league teams to share a spring training facility at Phoenix’ Peoria Sports Complex and have remained partners there ever since. One of the Cactus League’s two founding franchises, the San Francisco Giants, came to Phoenix as the New York Giants in 1947, joining the Cleveland Indians, who set their spring camp in Tucson, as Arizona pioneers. The Giants have been holding down the fort at Scottsdale Stadium in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale since 1984, the longest running residence of any Cactus League team. HEARD MUSEUM Founded in 1929 by Native American art collectors Dwight and Maie Heard, the Heard Museum displays a rotating selection of Native American artifacts and artwork throughout its 12 galleries. Much of what’s on display comes from Southwestern tribes, but you’ll also find pieces from those in the Midwest, Pacific Northwest and elsewhere. TALIESIN WEST Nestled in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, Taliesin West is Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home, studio and still-operating school of architecture. You can tour the property on one of several tours. For a scenic hike, consider the Holbert Trail. The 2.5-mile, sometimes challenging trek begins at South Mountain Environmental Education Center off of Central Avenue and ends at Dobbins Lookout, where you’ll be rewarded with one of the Valley’s best views of downtown Phoenix. Outdoor adventure is plentiful in the Sonoran Desert, and family-friendly trails are easy to find when visiting Mesa. The city is surrounded by cactus-studded desert terrain meant for climbing and taking in Arizona’s sweet sunsets. Families will love hitting the trails by foot as they offer one of the best ways to experience the desert up close. Usery Mountain Regional Park Located in the eastern section of Mesa, this county park takes in more than 3,600 acres at the western end of the Goldfield Mountains and merges into the Tonto National Forest. Usery Park contains a large variety of plants and animals that call the lower Sonoran Desert home. Perhaps the most popular trek for families is the Wind Cave Trail. At the top of the 1.5-mile trail is the cave, is formed at the boundary between the volcanic tuff and granite on Pass Mountain, offering breathtaking views from the 2,840-foot elevation. Parents seeking out a barrier-free trail inside the park can enjoy the Merkle Trail, which is wheelchair accessible and stroller-friendly. The trail’s low elevation also lends itself to being one of the best to capture wildflowers each spring.

Superstition Wilderness One of the most popular day trips for anyone visiting Mesa is up the historic Apache Trail, through the mysterious Superstition Mountains and into the foothills of the Tonto National Forest—the fifth largest forest in the United States. To this day, the area continues to pay homage to its Western roots, which took shape in the late 1800s. Be sure to plan a day hike to see the sights along the Hieroglyphic Trail, which you enter through the town of Gold Canyon. At the end of this 1.5-mile trail, families will find ancient petroglyphs etched into the rocks. While the hike is easy, there is very little shade throughout the entire trail, and it is not accessible to strollers. Lost Dutchman Arizona State Park History is alive and well in this state park. Rangers share the tales of the Lost Dutchman’s gold and lead a variety of family programming all season long. Families have so many trail choices here to choose from, but perhaps the most popular journey is along Jacobs Crosscut Trail. Under a mile, the trail runs along the base of the mountain range and connects to the popular Treasure Loop trail, which winds along further past the park. Arizona Grand Resort An eight-story slide, a gigantic wave pool and a rolling river are just the highlights of the sevenacre Oasis Water Park. The Zuni River is the Valley of the Sun’s only side-by-side active river capable of double inner tubing with the rolling effect of an active river. The Oasis Wave Pool appeals to the surfer-in-training with its two-

foot swells as well as a cascading lagoon-style waterfall. But, the park’s centerpiece is the Slide Canyon Tower. Eight stories tall with three waterfalls—two with dramatic 51-foot drops and a third that winds down along 300 feet. The resort received a $13 million complete renovation and offers a variety of dining options as well as a spa and 18-hole golf course with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Wigwam Arizona The historic resort has a couple of pools—one tucked away offering tranquil solitude and the other with a 25-foot tower at its center that includes two twisting waterslides. Cabanas can be rented at either location. The resort offers 331 spacious casitas and suites over 440 lush acres. It was originally built in 1918 as a desert retreat for Ohio-based executives of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and opened as a full-service resort in 1929 due to its popularity. The resort has received a number of renovations since, but it has never lost its charm with its elegantly crafted adobe buildings. Other amenities include a number of dining options, full-service spa, tennis, Bocce courts, volleyball and three 18-hole championship golf courses—two designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa The resort’s 2.5 acre waterpark includes a sand beach, 10 pools (one adult-only), 20 fountains, Grecian water temple, 45 waterfalls and a threestory waterslide—the “Big Gun Thunderfall.” But, the water-based activities are just the tip of the iceberg. There are also four authentic Italian gondolas providing tours of the resort’s gorgeous waterways, a rock climbing wall, tennis, fitness center and golf provided by Gainey Ranch Golf Club. Other activities include guided hiking and cycling tours, 4X4 rides and hot air balloon rides. The resort also has a number of award-winning dining options.

Recognizing our team members’ hard work has always been important for us, but in 2018 we wanted to do something special for those who went way above and beyond to improve the customer’s experience (CE). Naming these team members as our CE Celebrities, each of the following (along with a guest) were invited to a two-night stay, full-course dinner and special presentation at our annual leadership conference in Las Vegas, Nevada to celebrate their achievements. We are proud to share a few examples of why they are being honored: “On Christmas Eve, we were a little early and James (Captain, Cincinnati) went into the terminal and had all the children gather around as he read “The Night Before Christmas.” He thought outside of the box on how to interact with our customers and go the extra mile. He also handed out candy to the children as they exited the aircraft and made the flight enjoyable for many.” “We had a customer and her husband fly with us in July and the flight attendant found out it was their 59th wedding anniversary and took a picture of them on the plane. Later, the customer called in asking for the picture because her husband passed away and that was their last photo together. Brenda (Corporate Operator, Headquarters) took it upon herself to contact the appropriate department and locate the photo for the customer.” These are just a couple examples of our team members going above what is required of them to help our customers have a great customer experience. We are so excited to honor each of them for their dedication and passion to providing outstanding customer service.

FROM PATIENT TO PILOT MEET OUR FRIEND ERIc By Andrew Porrello
As a proud partner of Make-A-Wish®, Allegiant has flown more than 1,500 children facing life-threatening illness to their dream destinations. For Nevada wish-kid Eric Jolley, we were also able to play a special role in granting his aviation-inspired wish. Eric was a senior in high school when he received life-altering news. He was diagnosed with leukemia and would undergo several rounds of chemotherapy before ultimately needing a bone marrow transplant.

When Eric recovered enough to make a wish, he knew he wanted something that would last. After careful consideration, Eric wished to become a pilot. He was inspired by his grandfather, who was a pilot during World War II and died of stomach cancer a month before Eric received his own leukemia diagnosis. Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada turned to Allegiant to help with fulfilling Eric’s wish. Working with partners at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, we helped to identify a local flight school for Eric, Advanced Aviation. But first, we got him started on his wish with a special VIP experience at Allegiant’s pilot training facility near the Las Vegas airport. Eric took his first “flight” as an honorary first officer in a professional-grade Airbus simulator, with Captain Chris and copilot Jim of Allegiant. Eric was a natural, gracefully navigating the simulated flight, alerting passengers of their time of arrival, and going through in-flight checklists. Eric’s family sat in the flight deck with him as he “flew” over

the Las Vegas Strip, looped across the valley to Mount Charleston and took in the sights from 36,000 simulated feet above ground. Upon exiting the simulator, Eric was presented with Allegiant first officer “wings” and a custom pair of aviator sunglasses, giving him the gear he needed to look the part. He also received training posters modeling cockpit controls, which may prove helpful before taking his first flight school lesson in Reno. He’s well on his way to fulfilling his wish and honoring his grandfather’s memory. We can’t wait to see him take to the skies. And maybe one day, we’ll even welcome Eric to the Allegiant family full-time. Sunseeker ▪ 79

Customer safety is Allegiant ®’s first concern. Please be advised that interference with the duties of crew members, including flight attendants, is a violation of federal laws. Our crews are thoroughly trained in all safety procedures. To ensure your own safety, we hope you take a moment to review the safety information card located in the seat pocket in front of you. Be aware of the following:
• Location of the nearest emergency exit • Location of your emergency oxygen mask, if needed • Correct procedure for exiting the cabin in an emergency SEAT BELTS
Seat belts must be fastened ANY TIME the seat belt sign is on, during taxi, takeoff and landing. Once the seat belt sign is turned off, you may walk around the cabin. Due to unexpected turbulence, it is strongly recommended that you keep your seat belt fastened any time while in your seat. Allegiant’s exit seating policy does not allow the use of seat belt extensions in the exit seats due to tripping hazards.
Unlabeled seats or seats manufactured before Jan. 1, 1981, are not acceptable. Child restraint seats are to be placed into a window seat and secured with an aircraft seat belt.
PHOTOS & VIDEOS ONBOARD
The use of small cameras or mobile devices for photography and video is permitted onboard provided you keep the purpose of your photography and video to capturing personal events. Photographing or recording other customers or airline personnel without their express consent is prohibited. Airline personnel reserve the right to prohibit photos and videos onboard the aircraft if it becomes a disturbance to them or other passengers.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
Allegiant is forbidden to serve alcoholic beverages to anyone who appears to be intoxicated or who has not yet reached the age of 21. It is a violation of federal regulations to drink alcoholic beverages during a flight unless they have been served by Allegiant personnel.

Federal Aviation Administration requires that all child restraint seats used on planes meet federal safety standards. Acceptable seats bear proper labeling
“THIS RESTRAINT IS CERTIFIED FOR USE IN MOTOR VEHICLES AND AIRCRAFT" from the manufacturer.
Smoking, the use of other tobacco products, e-cigarettes and other similar smoking devices are not permitted on any Allegiant flight. Federal law imposes fines of $1,000 for smoking and up to $2,000 for any attempt to disable an aircraft smoke detector.
