“This
is truly a night when we see love made visible and dreams come true. Guests travel from all over Idaho to show these children and families they are deeply loved and supported at Share Your Heart.”
—Elizabeth Lizberg
by Sabina Dana Plasse
Do you know where you might be able to sip for diamonds, enjoy exclusive world travel, take part in celebrity meet-and-greets, have dinner with Boise State’s renowned football coach Spencer Danielson, or or play flag football with three of the playmakers from the legendary BSU victory in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl? It’s all possible to buy from the live and silent auctions at the annual Share Your Heart Ball gala fundraiser to support Idaho’s premier children’s cancer charity, Camp Rainbow Gold.
Camp Rainbow Gold is an independent nonprofit organization powered by a vast network of generous, compassionate individuals dedicated to providing emotionally empowering experiences for families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Camp Rainbow Gold’s state-of-the-art medical camp, Hidden Paradise in Fairfield, Idaho, also supports other nonprofits across Idaho.
What began in the mid-1980s as a week of camp for a handful of children with cancer has evolved into a comprehensive program offering oncology camps, sibling camps, and family retreats. For 2025, Share Your Heart celebrates 20-plus years in Sun Valley as Camp Rainbow Gold’s largest fundraiser, making it possible for every kid who wants to attend camp to do so.
“This is truly a night when we see love made visible and dreams come true,” says Camp Rainbow Gold CEO Elizabeth Lizberg. “Guests travel from all over Idaho to show these children and families they are deeply loved and supported.” Lizberg adds, “We have incredible supporters—from those who donate their time, talents, and goods to those who open their wallets and raise their paddles high and often. They understand that the funds raised ensure all our camps remain free and accessible for these young cancer warriors and their families.”
With the ability to serve more kids, the camp experience can be even more creative. However, camp means putting down a cell phone and establishing and supporting the connection that is valuable and important for the healing process. At Hidden Paradise, Camp
Rainbow Gold has fully established its mission for emotionally empowering experiences, allowing these special kids to be kids.
“Although we need a dining hall, which is in the works, we have a vision of adding a multi-purpose ‘STEAM’ building,” says Lizberg. “It would have everything from virtual reality, robotics, and art, as well as music and even a sensory room. In addition, we would love to have an on-site permanent frisbee course, climbing wall, and zipline, but this takes time to research, build, focus, and fund. It’s where we want to be the best and most exclusive camp in the Northwest.”
For more than a decade, the Share Your Heart Ball has been considered Sun Valley’s “Best Charity Event.” It is also one of Idaho’s most unique and spectacular gatherings. On this stunning night, embrace imagination and inspiration as Camp Rainbow Gold celebrates the limitless potential of every camper it serves—because no dream is too big!
“This year’s theme, Dreams Do Come True, will be happening for one camper on stage, which will be awe-inspiring for everyone who attends,” shares Lizberg
Make plans to support Camp Rainbow Gold at the Share Your Heart Ball in Sun Valley, Idaho, where you can dress up, enjoy delicious food and entertainment, bid on curated live and silent auction items only available at Share Your Heart, and become inspired by stories from some of Idaho’s biggest heroes.
Tickets are available at camprainbowgold.org.

Ketchum Business Advisory Coalition takes a seat at the table
Ketchum is growing up. And growing pains can be difficult, involving many complex issues and differing points of view. With looming challenges like population increases, construction fatigue, new development, labor shortages, a workforce housing crisis, parking management, downtown vibrancy, and long-term vitality, one can’t help but be aware of the collective concern. To assist in finding solutions to these challenges, the Ketchum Business Advisory Coalition (KBAC) was formed last April by a group of local citizens and business owners with the goal of creating more effective collaboration with the City of Ketchum, as well as our elected officials and the various public entities charged with mapping out the future of our unique and extraordinary community. KBAC believes that the keys to success are communication, collaboration, transparency, and accountability. With virtually no outreach other than wordof-mouth, more than 120 businesses have already signed on, anxious to be represented by KBAC.
KBAC believes that the keys to success are communication, collaboration, transparency, and accountability.
The 12-member KBAC Board of Directors wants to remain more engaged with local government, communicate regularly with their member businesses, and based on that feedback, help the City to make the best decisions for the entire community going forward. Important issues currently include creating more workforce housing, improving parking management, bike and pedestrian safety, road & bridge construction, infrastructure, capital improvements, fiscal priorities, and more. New members are welcome, and there is no cost to join.
For more information and to learn how to become a member of KBAC, visit ketchumbusiness.org.

In homage to Ketchum’s elevation, 5850 Fest is set to launch an exciting ski town experience as a hometown pairing to the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals, March 20–27, 2025, hosted by the Sun Valley Resort. This week-long festival will offer live music, comedy, entertainment, exceptional culinary experiences, and dynamic cultural activations to capture the vibrant energy of the World Cup Finals while honoring the heritage and culture that defines Sun Valley, one of the Mountain West’s most unique mountain towns, spotlighting Ketchum as the place to be.
Entrepreneurs Brandon Kuvara and Jenny Dupre’s vision for 5850 Fest evolved from their shared passion for the Sun Valley community where they live and work. Based on their years of experience in event production and deep connections to the area, Kuvara and Dupre realized an opportunity to bring something extraordinary to Sun Valley. They envisioned a festival that highlights the area’s breathtaking beauty and brings people together to celebrate the unique lifestyle, history, and hospitality that make Sun Valley so beloved while creating a top-tier event.
“The return of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals to U.S. soil is a monumental moment for Sun Valley and the surrounding region. This event showcases the incredible talent of the world’s best athletes while highlighting Sun Valley as a premier destination for both skiing and cultural investment. It’s an opportunity to celebrate our community’s legacy and inspire future growth with audiences around the globe,” says Kuvara. “You can enjoy watching races on the big screen on Main Street with surrounding activities for the first weekend and, through the week, attend events in Ketchum Town Square. There will be intimate gatherings for VIP pass holders featuring renowned chefs and entertainment along with a diverse lineup of talented artists, including Grammy-nominated musicians, food and beverage popups, panel discussions, late-night happenings, and more at the foot of majestic Bald Mountain.
“There are several ways to participate in the 5850 Fest experience,” says Dupre. “Enjoy the race on the big screens with access to food, music, and entertainment on Main Street and Town Square. Beyond sales of 10 million records, four top ten songs, hundreds of millions of streams, and millions of tickets sold, Sugar Ray—co-founded by Mark McGrath, vocals, and Rodney Sheppard, lead guitar—embodies the endless summer of popular music and culture. How many artists still pack venues a whole generation removed from their genesis? How many acts can claim sharing the stage with The Rolling Stones, KISS, and Sex Pistols, collaborating with Run-DMC, and being interpolated by Post Malone? Only Sugar Ray.
Sugar Ray’s 1994 Lemonade & Brownies took the band around the world, earning them classic status for being a frenetic and unpredictable hybrid. It set the stage for Floored in 1997. The latter’s immortal lead single “Fly,” featuring Super Cat, made them a household name, and 21 years later, Post Malone incorporated “Fly” in “Sugar Wraith” on the triple-platinum Beerbongs & Bentleys. Helmed by GRAMMY® Award-winning producer David Kahane of Sublime, Paul McCartney, and The Strokes, Floored earned the band’s first gold plaque and eventually went double-platinum. Two years later, 14:59 made it to in the Top 20 of the Billboard Top 200, went triple-platinum, and gave us “Someday,” “Falls Apart,” and their second #1 “Every Morning.” In 2001, Sugar Ray crashed the Top 200 at #6 as “When It’s Over” staked out a spot on the charts, adding another platinum plaque to their walls.
Enjoying a renaissance, Sugar Ray headlined the Under the Sun Tour 2013-2015 and inked a deal with BMG in 2019, dropping their seventh full-length, album, Lil Yachty. In addition to features from Rolling Stone and Billboard, NPR claimed, “The Newport Beach natives returned to their signature uplifting and airy rock sound.”
“We’re so excited to be part of 5850 Fest. The combination of world-class skiing, music, and culture in such a beautiful place will be epic. We can’t wait to bring the energy and make this a memorable event.”
—Mark McGrath
For 35 years, the beloved quartet has sold over 15 million records worldwide and built up an arsenal of hits such as “If I Had $1,000,000,” “One Week,” “Pinch Me,” and “The Big Bang Theory Theme.” Widely acknowledged as one of the best live acts on the planet, Barenaked Ladies, aka BNL, has hosted a cruise, had their own Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor, and participated in the first-ever “space-to-earth musical collaboration” with astronaut Chris Hadfield. BNL has amassed eight JUNO Awards, garnered two GRAMMY nominations, and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. BNL’s 18th studio album, “In Flight,” was released in 2023 and features 14 brand-new studio recordings. It’s available everywhere you stream music.
Tracy Byrd became a household name in 1993 with his #1 hit “Holdin’ Heaven” from his debut album, featuring the remake of Johnny Paycheck’s “Someone to Give My Love To” and earning gold certification. His second album, No Ordinary Man, included the chart-topping “Watermelon Crawl” and ACM Song of the Year “The Keeper of the Stars,” propelling the album to double-platinum status. Byrd continued his success with hits like “Love Lessons,” “Big Love,” and “I’m From the Country,” each contributing to a string of gold-certified albums. With over six million records sold, two greatest hits collections, and countless performances worldwide, Byrd’s career is marked by a deep connection to fans and a passion for traditional country music. After a brief hiatus, Byrd returned to music with All American Texan in 2016, an album featuring eight tracks written by Byrd and praised by fans and critics alike. Through decades of hits and live shows, Tracy Byrd remains a celebrated artist with an enduring legacy in country music.

Emmy Award-winning actor and comedian Dana Carvey is best known for his iconic and indelible Saturday Night Live characters–most memorably Church Lady, Grumpy Old Man, Hans, of the Hans and Franz body-building duo, and of course Garth–Mike Myers’ “excellent Co-Host” on the classic sketch-turnedfeature film, Wayne’s World . He was most recently seen starring as Garth once again alongside Mike Myers in a massive Super Bowl commercial and campaign for Uber Eats. Carvey has received much praise for his uncanny comedic impersonations of American political figures, which are popular with audiences as well as the subjects of his impersonation, including George H.W. Bush, Ross Perot, Jerry Brown, and Bob Dole.
Carvey made his feature film debut in This Is Spinal Tap, and other earlier works include Racing with the Moon, One of the Group, Tough Guys, and the comedy Opportunity Knocks. Other notable films for Carvey include Alan Parker’s The Road To for Columbia Pictures, Zanuck’s Clean Slate for MGM, and Twentieth Century Fox’s Trapped in Paradise. In 2004, Carvey starred in The Master of Disguise, a family comedy in which Carvey took on 36 different identities and spoke in 14 languages as the hapless titular character. Carvey has also lent his voice to bring Pops the dog to life in the 3D animated mega-hit Secret Life Of Pets and its sequel. In 2016, Carvey released a Netflix Special, Straight White Male, 60, to much acclaim. Hear Carvey on his chart-topping hit podcast “Fly on the Wall,” which he co-hosts with friend and comic David Spade, and soon you will hear him voicing several characters on the animated show Mulligan, produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock.
“I’m stoked to bring some laughs to the 5850 Fest. Between the mountains, skiing, and all-around cool vibes of Ketchum, it’s like the ultimate ‘not too shabby’
setting for a stand-up show. Let’s make it a night to remember— and maybe even sneak in some impressions while we’re at it.”

Northern California-raised, Nashville-rooted Tyler Rich, discovered his love of music gathered around a Christmas tree alongside family singing holiday classics and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Tyler has amassed nearly half a billion global streams to date and notched three No. 1 hits on SiriusXM’s The Highway with his debut album Two Thousand Miles, from the Valory Music Co., featuring gold-certified “The Difference” plus subsequent releases “Better Than You’re Used To,” “A Little Bit of You,” and “Trucks Don’t Lie.”
Tyler’s music embodies the feelings everyone has in common—the need for acceptance, devotion, and a place to call their own.
Featuring a voice that beams like a ray of California sunshine, singer-songwriter Annie Bosko’s Cash is available now. Written by Bosko with Griffin House after she played a prison concert for inmates, it was inspired by the paradoxes that made the Man in Black such a compelling figure. Bosko pairs the organic twang of ‘90s country with a western rock and roll edge, simple songs from the heart preaching equal parts healing and honky-tonk hope. The Golden State native earned the title of Artist to Watch from Rolling Stone Country. Bosko broke out in 2014 with the SiriusXM/CMT hit “Crooked Halo,” bucking the brocountry trend for a traditionally flavored anthem that has now amassed more than three million streams. She went on to write songs recorded by Willie Nelson and Jessica Simpson and tour alongside Tim McGraw and Jelly Roll while also becoming an in-demand studio vocalist.
Jason Jones slides onto the scene with an unparalleled voice, a drawl as thick as the Georgia heat, and a highenergy, non-stop show filled with red clay dirt and emotion. From church youth groups and praise bands in his hometown of Americus, Georgia, to the rowdy honkytonks of Nashville, Jones passion for music and dedication to performing creates a live show unrivaled by today’s newcomers. Jones’s musical repertoire comprises songs about women, drinking, and smalltown life. With a rugged exterior and “Mama Tried” inked across his arm, the guitar-toting Jones is a new spice in today’s country music mix.
Josh Weathers has been bringing his unique brand of country music to bars, dives, and honky-tonks for over 21 years. Sun Valley prepares for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals 2025
by Sabina Dana Plasse
Rich in ski racing and heritage, Sun Valley is one of the nation’s first ski resorts tucked away in the Smoky Mountains of south-central Idaho. It is a fabled mountain town known for its love of alpine skiing, from the Harriman Cup in 1937 to the first time Sun Valley hosted a FIS World Cup in 1977. And March 22-27 marks the return of the FIS World Cup with the Stifel Sun Valley Finals when both men and women will compete in all four alpine disciplines and for the coveted globe trophies.
The world’s top 25 men and 25 women alpine racers on today’s World Cup circuit will be competing on the Warm Springs side of Baldy in the Stifel Sun Valley Finals, which is the final stop on the World Cup circuit. One of the Wood River Valley’s own, Haley Cutler, is hoping to qualify to race and join an elite list of celebrated female athletes—we hope!
It’s been nearly 90 years since that first Sun Valley race, and soon, the world’s top alpine competitors will descend the Sun Valley slopes to compete in the Downhill, Super-G, Giant Slalom, and Slalom at the first-ever Stifel Sun Valley Finals with newly designed terrain. In addition, there will be plenty of ski culture, parties, and snow-inspired events, including skijoring, free concerts, VIP lounges, parties, and more happening at the base of Warm Springs, Champions Meadow, and the Sun Valley Resort.
Thanks to an incredible team at Sun Valley Resort who have been working at hyper-speed to make the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals 2025 one of the best on American soil, we can all enjoy this exciting sports achievement. With laser-sharp focus, ingenuity, and Sun Valley roots, Riley Berman and Stacey Timmons Ehleringer are making the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals happen for the rest of the world too.

Riley Berman
Sun Valley Resort’s Competition Services Manager & Chief of Course for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals
Riley Berman has been working to get Baldy’s new World Cup venue ready for the top 25 men and women alpine skiers in the world. From installing new snowmaking systems, A-netting (a vertical trampoline to keep skiers from dangerous terrain and stop them), re-contouring, and tree removal, many adjustments had to be made in an extremely short eight-month window.
Berman grew up ski racing on the slopes of Baldy, has worked as a fishing guide, and ran the Rotarun ski area in Hailey prior to joining the Sun Valley Resort team. His dedication to creating the best conditions on Baldy for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals 2025 is undeniable.
“It’s all a ski race but with much more surrounding it,” says Berman. “One of the cool things about this race is that, in general, some of the athletes, if not all of them, have skied all the other World Cup courses year after year and have come to know them well. To my knowledge, this will be the first World Cup downhill that no athlete has raced before, which is a monumental task for us as the organizing committee. Still, it’s also very exciting for the athletes because some have been skiing at other venues for years and have a big advantage. This is about as neutral as it gets for ski races.”
Sections of the course are being named for Sun Valley’s champion skiers of the past, including Dick Durrance and Picabo Street, whose statue will be unveiled in Champions Meadow. A feature of the course will also honor the Wood River Valley’s Michel Rudigoz, who coached several American alpine ski racers, including local Olympians Pete Patterson and Christin Cooper. The Challenger Course will pay tribute to the area’s natural and storied history.
“To
my knowledge, this will be the first World Cup downhill that no athlete has raced before, which is a monumental task for us as the organizing committee.”
—Riley Berman
“Many resorts have years to plan. We had 14 months. In addition, taking on the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals has allowed us to build a relationship with FIS.”
—Stacey Timmons Ehleringer
Executive Director of Guest Engagement for Sun Valley Resort & Local Organizing Committee Chair for FIS Ski World Cup Finals
Stacey Timmons Ehleringer will provide her insights and expertise on all the off-course work to make the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals 2025 an exciting reality for Sun Valley and the community. As someone who grew up ski racing in Idaho, she’s deeply knowledgeable about racing with a strong connection to Sun Valley. However, her focus has been to coordinate and organize events that will happen on and off-mountain from beginning to end for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals. This includes all logistics behind the scenes with athlete travel, accommodations, transportation, community coordination, and communication along with events such as the bib draw at the Sun Valley Resort’s outdoor ice rink, a skijoring competition in the newly renamed Champions Meadow (formerly known as Festival Meadow), and a revival of the Harriman Cup prizes that were the original ski races held by Sun Valley in 1937.
Ehleringer’s on-hill work is a coordinated effort between the FIS, USSS, and the Local Organizing Committee which includes her, Chief of Race, Greg Johnson, and Chief of Course Riley Berman.
“The Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals are a culmination of the entire alpine ski racing season with top 25 men and women competing for the overall discipline globe, which will be awarded on the last day at Warm Springs,” says Ehleringer. “We won’t know the qualifiers until a week before the Sun Valley races begin. It’s not often the men and women are together in the same place to celebrate the end of the season, so that will be very festive and celebratory.”
Sun Valley has a legacy, and terrain has placed it on the radar for some time to be the World Cup Finals host. In addition, hosting successful U.S. National races made Sun Valley ideal, especially with the community hospitality where the athletes feel embraced. “The time is now,” says Stacey. “Many resorts have years to plan. We had 14 months. In addition, taking on the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals 2025 has allowed us to build a relationship with FIS.”
Ehleringer encourages the community to support the many events that are open to them, especially the Bib Draw, which will take place at the Sun Valley Resort’s Outdoor Ice Rink on Friday, March 21, and Wednesday, March 26, from 6-7pm. It’s all ages with all the athletes.

A quick Google search about the American West will flood your screen with iconic images: rugged cowboys, their faces shaded by wide-brimmed hats, with towering mountains and snow-capped peaks in the background. It’s the quintessential vision of the West—a place where grit meets the expansive landscape. There is a unique sporting event that takes place here in our valley, and encompasses this spirit. Welcome to skijoring, where the thrill of the West and the rush of winter sports collide in a spectacular display of skill, speed, and adrenaline.
Skijoring is a thrilling sport that merges the raw power of skilled skiers honed on steep, snow-covered mountains with the precision, agility, and calmness of finely trained horses and their riders. Simply put, a skier gets towed behind a horse in order to complete the course in the fastest time. But take a closer look, and you’ll quickly see that skijoring is far more complex and breathtaking than just that.
This high-speed team sport requires a horse that is not only fast but also unshakably composed under pressure. The horse must navigate the snow-covered course while towing a skier at speeds reaching up to 40 miles per hour. It takes a horse that can handle the chaos of a roaring crowd and the unpredictable nature of a skier slicing through their blind spots. For the skier, the challenge is no less daunting.
The course isn’t a straight shot; it’s a dynamic zigzag of twists and turns, requiring the skier to cross the width of the track to maneuver around gates while gathering rings sprawled across the course. Add jumps scattered throughout, and you’ve got a race where competitors are airborne for several seconds at a time—flying through the air with nothing but snow beneath and adrenaline fueling them.
Skijoring isn’t just a race—it’s a true test of teamwork, precision, and nerve, blending the skills of skier, horse, and rider in a
breathtaking dance of speed and control. When asked to describe the event in three words, Michelle Bobbitt, from the Wood River Extreme Ski Joring Association, simply states, “Total adrenaline rush!”
This year, the action-packed event will return to our valley. Head to Browning Lane in Bellevue, Idaho, on February 15 and 16, to watch the spectacular event and enjoy a taste of the West. Whether you’re a first-time spectator or a seasoned fan, this event promises to be a highlight of the winter season. Starting at noon each day, you’ll be treated to a non-stop rush of excitement as skilled skiers are towed by powerful horses, navigating obstacles at top speed. Be sure to dress warmly, in layers, and prepare for anything—Idaho’s winter weather is known to be unpredictable, so it’s always a good idea to come ready for snow, sunshine, or anything in between. Seasoned attendees recommend arriving early to claim a prime viewing spot in the middle of the track. This strategic position gives you the best vantage point to catch all the action as the competitors speed past, offering a thrilling view from every angle.
Skijoring isn’t just a race—it’s a true test of teamwork, precision, and nerve, blending the skills of skier, horse, and rider in a breathtaking dance of speed and control.
As the Wood River Skijoring event returns to our valley, it offers a thrilling winter competition and celebrates the rugged, daring spirit that defines the American West. With powerful horses, fearless skiers, and breathtaking speed, this high-adrenaline sport will leave you on the edge of your seat. Whether you’re drawn to the rush of the race, the incredible skill on display, or the chance to experience the West in its purest form, Skijoring promises to be an unforgettable highlight of the season. So bundle up, stake your claim on the track, and get ready for a front-row seat to one of the most exciting events of the year—where winter, adventure, and the spirit of the West collide in spectacular fashion.

Stanley’s cure for cabin fever is to party! Because it’s fairly safe to say February is on the backside of winter— with its sub-zero temps, long nights, seized engine blocks, and closed roads—no wonder the restless hordes want out. Winterfest, the family-fun community event that happens every Presidents Day weekend, is a gathering for laughter and merriment, camaraderie, and celebrating old traditions to kick against winter and its relentless assault on the Sawtooth Valley. From February 14 to 15, Stanley brings out their crazy, weird, and wacky pent-up winter blues for a weekend wingding y’all are invited to.
The fun starts at 8pm Friday night with live music at the Kasino Club and a kick-off beach party at Mountain Village Resort’s Velvet Falls Dance Hall. All the weekend events are opportunities to dress up—the crazier, the better—and beach attire shows up in force, with prizes for the best. DJ music ramps it up to dance off the winter doldrums and get rowdy and ready for Saturday’s eclectic extravaganza.
Stanley Winterfest promises to be a wild and weird weekend ride at the foot of the Sawtooths.
Saturday morning, the fun begins at 11am with a performance at Velvet Falls Dance Hall by the kids of Boise Rock School, an independent, nonprofit arts education organization, then spills over to Ace of Diamonds and Wall Street, where the adult Big Wheel Race takes place at noon, and the Turkey Bowl runs all day. Live music (tentatively Dave Nudo Band) and street dance begin at 1pm. Throughout the day, Mountain Village Resort, the Kasino Club, Stanley High Country Inn, and Papa Brunee’s will have good eats available for purchase. Cookies and cocoa will be offered at the Stanley Library, and family sledding is encouraged all day.
The “Howlin’ Wolf” Raft Ride, the largest event and by far the favorite, operates from 12:30-4:30pm and runs down the hill from the airstrip behind the Mercantile. Essentially, people are transported in snowcats to the top of the hill, loaded up in whitewater rafts, and sent down a groomed track at screaming speeds. Multiply a regular tube ride by 100, and that’s what this crazy ride feels like, a roller coaster on snow. The track is
extremely fast, but not to worry, there’s a berm at the end to capture the speed and begin the slow volley to a stop.
An elevated platform allows for easy viewing of the insane Papa Brunee’s Pizza Slam, where competitors devour as much pizza as possible in five minutes. The pizza is weighed beforehand, and whoever eats the most wins $100. Other events include a children’s and adult three-legged race, a Drag snowshoe race, and the hilarious Outhouse Race, which begins at 5pm. Hardcore competitors begin building their contraptions months in advance. The event has become so popular that competition heats are required, and it’s a crowd-viewing favorite down Ace of Diamonds. Rules and regulations are found on the website. At 8pm, live music tops off the day’s events at Kasino Club and Velvet Falls Dance Hall.
Attendance at Winterfest is free thanks to sponsorships and merchandise sales—hats, beanies, sweatshirts, stickers, and more. Any proceeds go back to Stanley community nonprofits through
a grant application process. The only events with a fee include the raft ride with the choice of unlimited snowcat rides to the top or a per-ticket price, and any funds collected are given back to the snowcat operators for fuel and maintenance. A pizza slam entry is $20 to offset the winner’s prize and pizza costs. Last year’s grant recipients were the Sawtooth Valley Rural Fire District, the Stanley School Parents Association, the Sawtooth Interpretive & Historical Association, and the Stanley Ambulance (Salmon River Clinic Hospital District).
Stanley’s city parking lot is available for easy access to Ace of Diamonds and Mountain Village Resort. Waivers and registration are required for event participation, so be sure to stop by the Winterfest tent to sign up and get your wristband. To avoid waiting in line, waivers can be completed on the website in advance. Stanley Winterfest promises to be a wild and weird weekend ride at the foot of the Sawtooths.

“Rounded shapes and rich materials bring softness to a room,” says Marina Broschofsky, owner of Red Door Home + Design. “Using a combination of curved details in both upholstery and wood pieces tie the furnishings together. “Sometimes the smallest touches can have the biggest impact,” says Redeux Decor owner Heather McGregor. “We incorporated a custom-sized sectional sofa, nesting coffee tables, and a beautiful mix of throw pillows. But the room wouldn’t have been the same without some greenery and two very curious llamas!”

“We find ourselves presenting console sinks fairly often,” says Allison Connolly, owner of Allison Paige Interior Design. “When a bath does not afford the space for an enclosed cabinet, we opt for a wall-mounted sink, sometimes with legs. This means less storage, but a handsome leg opens a small room. We are rewarded with a great-looking stone basin and just the perfect touch of brass with the legs. Necessities such as extra TP or towels find a home in a nice-looking basket.”
“Designing an elevated bedroom is often about finding ways to add dimension that enhances a neutral palette,” says Jennifer Hoey of Suede Studio. “Installing a wall covering, like a custom hair-on-hide piece by Kyle Bunting, creates a cozy space and brings in a unique element of playfulness.”

In the Wood River Valley, St. Luke’s Wood River (SLWR) and St. Luke’s Wood River Foundation (SLWRF) are always mindful of care and community health for the present and future generations. Through planning, generosity, and forwardthinking on the state of health and wellness throughout the Wood River Valley, St. Luke’s can provide the care needed for quality of life and best practices for preventive disease or handling long-term health needs. Recently, St. Luke’s received grants to improve vital mental and behavioral healthcare and provide essential tools and resources for effective diabetes management. In addition, St. Luke’s has donated a TytoClinic to the Hailey Public Library for remote care and is investing in a robotic-assisted surgery system. In addition, it has announced new board members, allowing St. Luke’s to continue to move forward in its mission to strive for the best care for the Valley residents.
Mountain communities across the Western states are making significant strides to improve access to vital mental and behavioral healthcare. Katz Amsterdam Charitable Trust announced over $2.83 million in grants to bolster these efforts in ten mountain resort communities, including Blaine County, Idaho, home to Sun Valley Resort.
This is a collaborative effort that tracks behavioral health data across nine mountain resort communities in the western U.S. SLWRF Chief Development Officer Megan Tanous offers, “Joining the Katz Amsterdam Foundation’s ongoing focus on mental and behavioral health in the Mountain West will go a long way to assist us as we track our progress towards achieving our goal of becoming the most mentally well community in the United States.”
The Blaine County Mental Well-Being Initiative (MWBI), led by the St. Luke’s Wood River Foundation, is committed to
building an inclusive mental health and well-being ecosystem to benefit everyone in the community. With over 40 local partners from sectors including government, healthcare, education, and business, MWBI aims to address critical gaps in mental health resources and empower people to achieve lasting mental wellbeing. To inform the strategic direction of this critical work, the Katz Amsterdam Charitable Trust has awarded $58,675 to the MWBI to gather community and provider survey data on key behavioral health metrics beginning in January 2025.
Community planning and investment in the MWBI’s five primary goals are ongoing. These focus on fostering welcoming community spaces, providing comprehensive mental health training, enhancing access to behavioral healthcare, establishing 24-hour crisis response, and creating the infrastructure needed to make mental health a community-wide priority.
Since 2016, Katz Amsterdam has contributed over $27 million to organizations in mountain resort communities, including $19 million to support initiatives that enhance access to services and reduce stigma around mental and behavioral health. Founded by Vail Resorts executive chairperson Rob Katz and his wife, Elana Amsterdam, New York Times bestselling author and founder of Elana’s Pantry, the Foundation and Trust have championed community-based efforts and fostered collaboration across mountain towns. The 11 grants will further enable innovation in behavioral health across ten communities in Colorado, Utah, California, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, and Vermont.
DIABETES PATIENTS WITH CRITICAL GLUCOSE MONITORING AND MEDICATION NEEDS ARE GRANT-SUPPORTED
The Foundation has been awarded a $15,000 grant to support uninsured and underinsured diabetes patients by providing essential tools and resources for effective diabetes management. This funding comes as the St. Luke’s Diabetes Educator has seen increased demand from patients who need support managing Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes.
“This grant ensures that local patients with diabetes can benefit from the most advanced care possible. Better blood glucose management leads to healthier outcomes, reduced emergency room visits, and lower long-term healthcare costs,” comments Tanous. “For St. Luke’s and SLWRF, it’s another step in ensuring that health equity and quality care are accessible for all.”
In the past year, this funding has helped over 90 patients with blood glucose monitoring supplies valued at $2,463.55. Additionally, 16 patients have received vital assistance with medications, diabetic shoes, and other essential items valued at $6,282.12.
“Continuous glucose monitoring helps patients understand and manage their blood sugar levels in real-time, which motivates lifestyle adjustments and better compliance with their treatment,” says SLWR Diabetes Educator Yolanda Arriaga, BSN, RN, CDCES. “With CGM technology, I’ve seen first-hand how patients improve their blood sugar control, making positive changes like choosing healthier foods and increasing physical activity.”
Access to the Latest Diabetes Technology: Patients will benefit from continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems and blood glucose monitoring supplies. This technology empowers patients to understand how daily activities affect their glucose levels, promoting a healthier lifestyle and improved glucose control.
Medication Assistance: Covering urgent medications, including insulin and other injectables, helps prevent the need for emergency medical care and keeps patients on track with treatment.
Risk-Reduction Screenings: Annual eye exams, diabetic footwear, and other preventive screenings reduce diabetesrelated complications, ultimately lowering healthcare costs.
Specialized Nutrition Support: When additional help is required, patients receive protein meals tailored to their diabetic needs, supporting their overall health.
For additional information on diabetes, contact Yolanda Arriaga at 208.727.8494.
St. Luke’s Health System has donated a TytoClinic to the Hailey Public Library, making advanced telehealth services accessible to the Wood River Valley community. With this new offering, community members can schedule same-day virtual visits with St. Luke’s providers from a dedicated telehealth room within the library.
The TytoClinic system, developed by TytoCare and integrated with St. Luke’s On-Demand Virtual Care, provides comprehensive remote examinations. Equipped with an iPad and TytoCare’s FDA-cleared handheld diagnostic device, the TytoClinic allows patients and clinicians to conduct highquality remote exams. This includes listening to heart and lung sounds, examining ears and throat, and measuring vital signs such as temperature and oxygen levels. Clinicians can use this examination data to diagnose conditions, recommend treatment, and, if needed, prescribe medications.
“Our goal is to make healthcare as convenient and accessible as possible,” says St. Luke’s Health System Telehealth Director Abby Losinski, MHA. “In a rural state like Idaho, we can’t simply build more clinics; there aren’t enough physicians to staff them. Instead, our strategy is to create virtual hubs in community spaces, such as libraries, that patrons know and trust to increase daily access to a clinician. We’re honored to work with Hailey Public Library to increase access to care, and we hope to expand to additional locations across Idaho by the end of 2024.”
Patrons can schedule a time to use the telehealth room at the library and will need a MyChart account to access TytoClinic services at the library, which can be set up on-site if one does not already exist. Times are available every five minutes during library hours. Language services for interpretation are offered, including Spanish. St. Luke’s Center for Community Health Manager Sarah Seppa adds, “St. Luke’s Center for Community Health has staff at the Hailey Public Library select hours once per week to provide outreach services and help with connecting to virtual care via the TytoClinic or for other telehealth appointments, such as behavioral health visits.”
There is a cost for TytoClinic visits, which may be covered by insurance; patients are encouraged to confirm their coverage and expected costs before scheduling. The initiative is part of the Idaho Commission for Libraries (ICfL) program to promote telehealth in libraries statewide.

SLWR and the SLWRF are launching initiatives to provide cutting-edge surgical technology closer to home. With community support, the St. Luke’s Wood River Foundation seeks to raise funds to acquire a robotic-assisted surgery system, transforming healthcare access and outcomes for patients in the Wood River Valley. Robotic-assisted surgery rapidly advances healthcare by enabling surgeons to operate with unmatched precision and control through small incisions. This means less pain, reduced blood loss, fewer complications, lower infection risk, minimal scarring, shorter hospital stays, and faster patient recovery times.
Acquiring this technology would be a significant step forward for SLWR, allowing the hospital to expand its surgical capabilities and provide advanced procedures locally. Surgeries in urology, women’s health, and general surgery could be performed right here in the Valley, eliminating the need for travel. This would ensure that patients can recover near family, friends, and support networks while avoiding travel-related expenses. This investment underscores St. Luke’s and the Foundation’s commitment to delivering world-class care in a rural setting.
“Bringing this advanced technology to our community means offering exceptional care right here at home,” says Tanous. “It’s about convenience, comfort, and elevating the healthcare experience for everyone.”
Abby Losinski,
Health System
“This technology helps our patients get back to their lives quicker,” says St. Luke’s Clinic–OB/GYN Dr. Joel Carlson. “Minimally invasive surgery enhances a surgeon’s precision, flexibility, and control.” A seasoned da Vinci Surgical System user, Dr. Carlson previously chaired the Surgical Robotics Committee at his former hospital. “This technology has greatly improved my ability to deliver precise, efficient care. It’s not just a tool— it is a pathway to better outcomes,” he adds.
This proven and trusted technology combines robotic, computer, and optical advancements to assist surgeons. St. Luke’s Wood River would acquire the latest da Vinci Surgical System, the DV5. This system includes a 3D high-definition vision system, specialized instruments, and software to enhance precision and dexterity. Its mechanical wrists replicate and exceed the range of motion of the human hand, enabling surgeons to perform intricate movements in hard-toreach areas with unparalleled accuracy.
“This initiative is about more than meeting today’s needs,” says Tanous. “By investing in tools like robotic-assisted surgery systems, we’re paving the way for future growth, expanding access to specialized care, attracting top-tier surgeons and staff, and improving overall community health. Together, we can make this vision a reality.”
Visit slwrf.org for more information and to help bring this technology to our community. To support the St. Luke’s Wood River Foundation, contact Betsy Mullins at 208.727.8419 or mullinse@slhs.org.
St. Luke’s Wood River Foundation adds two newly elected board members, Autumn Loomis, MD, and Julie Wrigley, who bring accomplished backgrounds and a shared passion for helping others in the Wood River Valley and beyond.
Born and raised in the Wood River Valley, Dr. Loomis graduated from Wood River High School and earned her BA in Microbiology from the University of Michigan before attending medical school in San Antonio, Texas. Her journey took her to New Zealand and Boston before she returned to her hometown in 2022. Inspired to pursue medicine after witnessing the impact of untreated diseases during her travels, Dr. Loomis explains, “I wanted to continue exploring the scientific aspect while making a direct, personal impact on people’s lives. Although I enjoyed all my rotations in medical school, I quickly realized that emergency medicine allows us to care for everyone and address anything that comes our way.” She joined St. Luke’s Wood River’s Emergency Department in 2022 and is particularly interested in Wilderness Medicine, Pre-Hospital/ Emergency Services, and Teaching and Academics.
Julie Wrigley serves as the President and CEO of Wrigley Investments, LLC in Ketchum, Idaho, as a Managing Member of GlenNeva Land Holdings, and as the Julie Ann Wrigley Foundation President. She is a dedicated advocate for sustainable societies, recognizing the interconnectedness of environmental, economic, and social systems. In 2004, she co-founded the Global Institute of Sustainability (GIOS) at Arizona State University (ASU), which houses the first degree-granting School of Sustainability in the United States, and which became The Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory at ASU. Today, Wrigley focuses much of her philanthropic work on healthcare, environmental sustainability, and education. Her guiding principle has been that of the United Nations Brundtland Commission, which is “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” She graduated from Stanford University and the University of Denver Law School. She has had a home in the Wood River Valley since 1981.
People are at the heart of great health care. That’s why we are committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care tailored to the communities we serve. Together with our community partners and patients, we are building a stronger, healthier future for all Idahoans.
Today’s world is a different world, for many reasons. It is challenging and difficult to maintain personal health and vitality. It almost feels like spiritual warfare to stay healthy. It is more important than ever to focus on personal vitality to be able to interact in the world with success, positivity, and confidence. A wellstructured daily routine, infused with both innovative technology and the natural world, will maintain energy, focus, and health. And the best approach to staying healthy is a proactive, preventative approach that requires daily effort reflected in lifestyle choices. These routines will create health.
TIME: 5-40 MINUTES
A morning reset and alignment will start the day off right. Upon waking, start the day with 16 ounces of warm water. Then, sit in quiet, focused meditation You can build the minutes over time; start with 5-10 if it feels new and uncomfortable, and you will begin to crave this time. I love to sit for 40 minutes each morning. I use all sorts of meditations, but for the past two years, daily, I use the six-phase meditation by Vishen Lakhiani, found on the Mindvalley app. I meditate well before sunrise. People often think they don’t have time to meditate. Meditation creates more time in your daily schedule as you are in a better state of mind right from the beginning. Wherever I am, I make time for a morning meditation. It feels like it focuses and protects me throughout the day.
TIME: 5 MINUTES
Next, I run through a list of my quarterly goals that I have written out. This puts me in a focused state, full of optimism and energy for everything I am working towards. I then “reframe” my challenges by reading a list of questions such as: Why do I solve all problems that come my way in a fun and easy way? Putting your daily goals in a question form restructures it subconsciously, setting you up for success and creating a flow in both positive and challenging situations.
TIME: 1 HOUR
Once I sit in my morning meditations and reflections, I choose either to cold plunge, workout, and sauna , in that order, or I go to my clinic and do our “superhuman” protocol: 15-minute PEMF and nano-vi, 21-minute Vasper/Live O2 session, and 15-minute infrared. This protocol, in the early morning, leaves me energized, upbeat and charged up for the day. Everything that follows after completing the above is typically positive.
TIME: 15-30
After school drop-off, or before depending on the time of year, I embrace the sunrise. Be outside at sunrise for 15-30 minutes. This creates healthy circadian rhythms, which sets a healthy sleep-wake cycle and neurotransmitter balance.
Food intake should be organic and anti-inflammatory: proteins and vegetables with minimal dairy and gluten, if at all. Everyone is a little different with what is best for them, but for an individualized protocol, contact us for our CENTERED 30-day gut restore protocol to banish candida, bloating, sugar cravings, skin issues, and more.
Before bed, I wear blue blocking glasses if I’m online, and I aim for lights out at a consistent time. I love to sauna before bed when possible. Before bed, I take a few supplements: magnesium, a probiotic, and enzymes. I go to bed looking forward to waking up to this routine every day.
Staying in a high-energy state requires daily effort. By embracing daily rituals and tuning in to what helps you feel the best, these small daily habits will end up giving you more time in your day, letting you operate with efficiency and energy in a way few achieve, and be your best to show up with success in the world. A framework of habits and consistency reaps huge rewards over time, getting better and better every day.

Zenergy Health Club & Spa eases the journey
by Sabina Dana Plasse
Recognizing our Valley’s aging population, Zenergy Health Club & Spa remains committed to the community’s health and wellness, providing resources, classes, and therapy to assist with neurological issues, especially those affected by Parkinson’s disease. Through focused classes, including Neurocentric Class, Parkinson’s Exercise Class, and Therapy Stretch Class along with aqua therapy, Zenergy instructors and therapists Carly Belle, Jennifer Hubbard, and Maria Beattie provide a level of comfort so those affected can move with confidence and ease in their everyday lives—it’s a team for better living. Neurocentric Class and Parkinson’s Exercise Class are free and open to the public, and Therapy Stretch Class is available to Zenergy members.
Leading the way is Corrective Exercise Therapist and Neurocentric Movement Specialist Carly Belle, a devoted movement and wellness coach with 25 years of experience. Nationally recognized and revered as an advanced corrective exercise specialist, senior movement specialist, Parkinson’s movement and mobility trainer, yoga therapist, and nutrition guide, Belle’s approach to combined neurocentric mobility training, flexibility, biomechanics, strength training, and nutritional medicine has changed the lives of hundreds and continues to do so, especially in the arena of handling Parkinson’s disease.
“As movement becomes more limited, you can become very isolated,” says Belle. “By creating more socialization, connection, and a reality for people to maintain, they can regain their lives. With consistent movement practices and the incorporation of breathwork, mindfulness, flexibility, strength training, and activities through coordination, prescriptions can diminish.”
Belle has seen men and women start private training sessions and classes with walkers, wheelchairs, and canes, and through her work, many finish walking on their own, creating a positive change. Her book, Parkinson’s Movement Manual: The What, Why, When, and How, is a comprehensive manual offering instruction and guidance for body, mind, and movement to live and function with Parkinson’s in a purposeful life, including
breath work, respiratory practices, neural grounding, stretching, strengthening muscles, cognitive games, speech exercises, gait or ambulation drills, and visual focus drills.
“We have the power to make a difference, even if it’s just for a moment,” says Belle. “My dream is to create an online course designed for people with Parkinson’s, their caregivers, and healthcare professionals. This course would offer a holistic approach to addressing both movement challenges and non-motor symptoms, such as emotional and cognitive changes. Incorporating evidence-based strategies for learning and harnessing neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to adapt and change—will empower individuals to live fuller, more meaningful lives while effectively managing the disease.”
As a Gerontologist from the University of Southern California (USC), community health specialist and instructor Jennifer Hubbard is considered a “brain trainer” at Zenergy and throughout the Valley. With an academic background in gerontology, neuroscience, and longevity, including two master’s degrees from USC and certifications as a Memory Care Coach and Brain Trainer from UCLA, Hubbard works one-on-one with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s clients along with teaching her Parkinson’s classes. She is an ambassador
for The Parkinson’s Foundation, Idaho chapter, and an educator for the Power of Parkinson’s. Hubbard is also certified in Pilates, spinning (indoor cycling), movement therapy, and Hydrofit, providing many levels of treatment and conditioning at Zenergy.
For 12 years, every Friday at 2pm, Hubbard has been teaching her class at Zenergy, which has proven to provide a better quality of life for those with neurological conditions through therapy and discussion on Parkinson’s-related topics. “Sun Valley is not an easy place to function if neurologically impaired, especially in the winter,” says Hubbard. “However, with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and ALS, now that we can detect so early, we can help individuals along with family and caregivers. We have educated professionals at every level of health and wellness at Zenergy and throughout the Valley, so there is a great deal of inspiration and progress occurring.” She adds, “I love how social my class has become— that support is needed for both those with Parkinson’s and their partners helping with the condition. I feel rewarded. It’s more than teaching class. It’s me having the ability to educate as well.”
Using aqua therapy for rehabilitation, recovery, and management, Marie Beattie stays present and involved with her clients with Parkinson’s and other neurological situations while also providing therapy for joint replacement in the pool. From her experience
and decades of competitive swimming and as a Master’s Swim coach, her effective water therapy methods are integral to Zenergy’s commitment to offering relief for Parkinson’s and other conditions.
“Freedom of movement is much more accessible in the pool,” Beattie says. “I always focus on balance as one of the key elements giving the participant confidence. I’ve had so many clients who have fallen on land and injured themselves. They know they can try things in the pool that they are too afraid to risk trying on land, and it feels good.”
Beattie explains that with aqua therapy, muscle memory is always there, and she is resourceful, providing outside-the-box thinking to help individuals in any way she can.
“This program is offered to everyone, and it’s open to nonmembers,” says Beattie. “There are many varieties of therapy in the pool, for any age and including traumatic brain injuries. It’s amazing to watch people improve and feel better, and I constantly hear how energizing aqua therapy is because it works. Family members and caregivers join me in the pool to learn how to be part of the process, as aqua therapy becomes part of the fabric of their lives.”
Zenergy is thrilled to have this multi-faceted team committed to helping their clients and members learn to live with Parkinson’s and other neurological issues. They help fulfill the club’s mission to be forward-thinking and provide the most authentic and rewarding health and wellness programs to the community as a whole.
“Every person’s Parkinson’s disease journey is unique. No two people have precisely the same symptoms or progression, let alone lifestyle and genetics,” says Belle. “However, it is common that once you begin a treatment regimen after diagnosis, you can live life for a while with nearly complete relief from symptoms and few side effects.”

As a child, Dana Hart-Stone wandered the vast, history-rich countryside of eastern Montana. His discoveries of deserted homesteads provided fragmentary narratives of the grueling lives of early settlers and ignited curiosity and wonderment for the lost histories of the American experience. These early discoveries continue to captivate Hart-Stone’s mind and fuel his work today. Vintage, vernacular photographs have replaced his childhood wanderings, allowing him to digitally stitch together the breadth and depth of our country’s Western development. Hart-Stone’s work provides the viewer with an unadulterated lens through which to witness underlying stories of race, gender, sexual identity, socioeconomic positioning, and class. In this way, Hart-Stone gives a fresh voice to generations of formerly known Americans who built this country one garden at a time, one wheat field at a time, and one 4th of July parade at a time.
Vermont-based photographer Jim Westphalen has always had an affinity for the built landscape, its features, and patterns reflecting human occupation within the natural surroundings. His current body of work, Vanish, is an ongoing narrative that speaks to the decay of iconic structures across rural America. Inspired by such painters as Andrew Wyeth, Edward Hopper, and A. Hale Johnson, Jim’s photographs open like windows to a world that is rapidly disappearing before our eyes.
Ellie Davies has been working in UK forests since 2007, making work that explores the complex interrelationship between the landscape and the individual. In her series titled Stars, mature and ancient forest landscapes are interposed with images of the Milky Way captured by the Hubble Telescope. Each image links forest landscapes with the intangible and unknown universe, creating a juxtaposition that reflects her personal experiences of the forest; its physicality and tactility set against a profound and fundamental otherness, an alienation that separates us from a truly immersive relationship with the natural world.
Best of the West
This exhibit showcases a diverse collection of works by gallery artists, offering various subjects and interpretations of the American West—from historical to contemporary perspectives. The exhibit features vintage photographs from Edward Curtis’ monumental 30-year project, The North American Indian (1898–1928), alongside Andy Warhol’s Western pop art pieces from his Cowboys and Indians series (1986).
David Yarrow’s striking large-scale photographs, which captivate viewers with their spectacular settings, renowned models, eccentric Western characters, and trained animals, are also on display. These works often inspire a mix of curiosity, amusement, and awe.
Recent acquisitions include paintings by Russell Chatham, whose works evoke a profound emotional resonance, offering more than just a visual recognition of place. They reveal a sense of connection that stirs the deeper, more reflective aspects of the mind.
The exhibition further highlights works by notable gallery artists, including Bill Barrett, Duke Beardsley, Rudi Broschofsky, Ewoud de Groot, Kollabs, Joan Mitchell, Ken Peloke, Billy Schenck, Theodore Villa, Andy Warhol, and many more.

Avery Wheless makes energetic and tender paintings, drawings, videos, and installations that capture the agency, presence, and creativity of the contemporary female body. Wheless’ protagonists frolic, float, pose, play, and dance at dinner parties and in restaurants, while traveling together, or while just chilling at home—each painting offering a sanctum full of multitudinous subjectivities and free from the male gaze. Wheless’ glowing palette and her confident, gestural brushwork are informed by her longstanding relationship to movement and light—sketching people in cafes with her father (an animator) and dancing with her mother (a ballet teacher) from a young age and later painting en plein-air along the northern California coast with a close-knit group of women painters. More recently, her experiences as a filmmaker, writer, and frequent collaborator all contribute to her vigorous studio practice, where she embraces her role as a conduit for artistic energy.

Kathy Moss
Creating her own gesso and paint bodies from Renaissance recipes, Kathy Moss depicts botanicals as mysterious archetypes in her work. Keenly aware of the suggestiveness and psychological meaning attached to flowers, she addresses issues of power, solipsism, and hierarchies. Traditionally working in a monochromatic neutral palette, Moss decisively introduces subtle hints of color in this new body of work. This solo exhibition will feature large-scale oil paintings as well as smaller works on paper.
Lynda Lowe (continued)
A continuation of her December exhibition, By the Light in Darkness, Lynda Lowe’s paintings navigate the intersection of the concrete and the mysterious, blending rigorous research and reflection with spontaneous creativity. Each piece balances deliberate detail with elements of chaos and improvisation, showcasing a rich tapestry of precise objects, gestural text, geometric diagrams, and expansive color fields. The result is a visually and symbolically layered offering that engages both the rational mind and contemplative spirit.
As both painter and sculptor, Alex Rohrig centers his artistic practice around the relationship between humans and nature, a relationship that can be all things at once— chaotic and serene, playful and serious, curious and familiar. Continuing from Rohrig’s solo exhibition, BARK, the February exhibition will incorporate the artist’s canine sculptures made of carved wood and stone alongside other interpretations of our canine companions by artists Theodore Waddell, Robb Putnam, and Berkeley Hoerr.
The February exhibition will feature a selection of the gallery’s internationally acclaimed and emerging artists with a focus on the representation and interpretation of our natural landscapes. The exhibition will include largeformat photography by Laura McPhee and Laura Wilson and oils on canvas by James Cook and Theodore Waddell. Works by newly represented gallery artist Joseph Rossano will be featured alongside new paintings on panel by Pacific Northwest artist Anne Siems. Works by Michael Gregory, Betsy Margolius, Don & Era Farnsworth, April Gornik, and Pamela deTuncq will also be featured. Collectively, the works in this exhibition highlight environmental issues, celebrate biodiversity, and evoke feelings of wonder, inviting viewers to engage more deeply and reconsider their relationship with the world around them.

Jan Freeman Long Meeting Ground
Opening Night Reception
February 14, 5-7:30pm
When Jan Freeman Long was ten years old, her family moved to a small coastal town in southern Oregon. Their new home included a large front yard with an ocean view and a trail to the beach. It was during these early years that she began to comprehend that life as it unfolds in the natural world resides solely in the moment, unfettered by the human intervention of measured time.
While studying painting at the California College of the Arts (CCA) in the mid-1990s, Jan was quickly attracted to working with abstraction. It offered her an open-ended vocabulary with which to look beyond the obvious and enter a sense of the unknown. It was her way into exploring the internal landscapes of being human while residing in both measured time and what is timeless.
Jan’s final semester at CCA took place in Florence, Italy, at Studio Art Centers International. Along with her studies, she took many side trips throughout the country. Early on, a new fascination emerged: the beauty and endurance of countless
ancient buildings and ruins and how they continue to age. She shot over 60 rolls of film of peeling surfaces, doorways, windows, rooflines, and piazzas. This immersive experience continues to inform her work now and then.
In 1996, she earned a BFA in painting—with distinction—and has since maintained a dedicated studio practice. In the studio, following her intuition is key to her artistic process. She relies on the wisdom she continues to glean from nature’s ongoing patterns and cycles to explore what is timeless, enigmatic, universal, and enduring.
Her latest exhibition, Meeting Ground at Hemmings Gallery, will feature many works from her recent Cross Section series. Says Jan, “I rely on a visual vocabulary of abstraction, pattern, texture, and color. Especially with color, I often enjoy creating a palette that employs nuance. In this series, I have added the compositional element of narrow edges used as outlines as a way to render each as a cross-section or a slice of my visual thinking process. The shapes and spaces I work with are my way into an active form of meditation while drawing and painting.”

“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.”

Walking into the Pioneer Saloon in Ketchum is like greeting an old friend. It’s often the first stop for locals coming home or visitors starting a memorable vacation. For more than 50 years, the Pioneer has been welcoming its loyal customers with a warm and cozy atmosphere that feels more like someone’s home than a restaurant. Renowned for perfectly aged and flavorful beef, many varieties of seafood, fresh Idaho rainbow trout, and Northwest regional specials, the Pioneer is much more than a steakhouse. Unique and historic western art fills the bar and restaurant, reminiscent of earlier days when pioneers settled in this valley. Authentic and genuine friendly service from familiar faces will make you feel as though you have arrived home when you walk in the door. As the locals say, “If you haven’t been to the Pioneer Saloon, you haven’t been to Ketchum.”
Always busy with a fun mix of locals and visitors alike, The Sawtooth Club has been downtown Ketchum’s most beloved destination for dining and cocktails since the days when Ernest Hemingway himself was a regular there. Nowadays, the place is more popular than ever with an inspired menu offering a mouthwatering blend of creative small plates to share, grilled steaks, chops and ribs, healthy vegetarian dishes, fresh seafood, unique pasta bowls, nightly specials and much more.
In the bar enjoy handcrafted cocktails, 16 wines by the glass, and 12 ice-cold craft brews on tap. Dinner offerings this season include fresh Idaho trout, filet mignon, linguine with clams, chicken Senegalese, rack of lamb, grilled ribeye steak, Manchester Farms quail, butternut squash ravioli, barbeque baby back ribs, vegan sesame noodle bowl, Waygu beef meatloaf, New Orleans shellfish pasta, smoked beef brisket, fresh steamer clams, seared ahi salad, awesome burgers and sandwiches, to name just a few.
Much of our grilling is done over a live mesquite-wood fire. We do not use processed charcoal or wood chips, only authentic mesquite logs from Texas. This method of natural wood cooking generates the intense heat that sears in the flavorful juices and imparts a variety of subtle tastes and aromas to meat, poultry, and seafood.
An award-winning wine list complements the wonderful food, and winter evenings around the large central fireplace are not to be missed. One visit and you’ll know why The Sawtooth Club has repeatedly been voted the “Valley’s Best Overall Restaurant and The Valley’s Best Bar!”

Known as “The Christy” to locals, the restaurant has been in operation since 1959 when Ernest Hemingway dined there so often he had his own table. To get your own glimpse of ski history, come to the famous Olympic Bar, where photos and mementos from owner Michel Rudigoz’s time as the U.S. Women’s
Olympic Ski Team Coach adorn the walls. Your meal will be a pièce de résistance!
