Environmental Responsibility The environment is our livelihood! Recycling is available throughout Sun Valley Resort. Please look for the marked recycling bins located in the Village, at the base areas, and in the mountain lodges.

FAQ | Sun Valley Facts Sun Valley was established as the first destination ski resort in North America in 1936. Renovated Lodge / The historical Sun Valley Lodge, constructed in 1936, underwent a major renovation and reopened in June 2015. The Lodge has refurbished guest rooms, public spaces and a 20,000 sq. ft. Spa and fitness center. The Roundhouse opened in 1939. The Sun Valley Inn was renovated in the fall of 2017 with phase one completed in 2018. It will be completely renovated by Feb. 2019. Recent Buildings / Carol’s Dollar Lodge opened in 2006. The Sun Valley Pavilion and Sun Valley Club opened in 2008. Skiing / Over 2,054 acres of skiable terrain and 3,400 vertical feet; Baldy’s longest ski run is 3 miles long! Sun / annual average of 250 days Olympians / more than 20 live in the community and are closely associated with Sun Valley. Golf / Three Championship golf courses with 45 holes of golf Wilderness / Sun Valley is surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness. Sun Valley Resort is the birthplace of the world’s first chairlift. Guests join a SVSP for two-hours and help to prepare the mountain for opening. Two participants will be selected each week through a drawing.
