A major road accident took place in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. A bus carrying devotees from Rajouri town in Reasi district to Shiv Khodi temple skidded off the road and plunged into the valley. Two people have died in this accident while 19 others have been injured. Officials said that two people died on the spot. The injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment. Officials said the accident took place at Tarayth in Ransu area at 12:30 pm when the driver lost control of the bus on a curvy road.
According to the information, a woman and a 14-year-old boy have died in this accident while 19 devotees have been injured. Officials said that the devotees in the bus were going to Shiva Ghodi Gufa Temple from Rajouri on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. He said that rescue operations were started immediately after the accident and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared.

The soldier was also given ₹ 15,000 by the Pakistan embassy official for information that he was sharing with them.
A Bankruptcy court allowed an application filed by Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) which sought exclusion of the 47-acre land parcel from liquidation of Guruashish Construction, that the division bench of Mumbai bench of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) said that assets not owned by the debtor cannot be included as a part of liquidation estate. Two men were arrested for allegedly impersonating highprofile people by using their picture as WhatsApp DP and taking money from the impersonated men’s relatives and friends, police said on Saturday. The accused, 19-yearold Javed Khan and 23-year-old Amit Kumar, used pictures of highprofile people from social media, and cheated more than 100 people in the last one year alone, they said. The two were arrested from Alwar in Rajasthan. According to the police, Khan and Kumar opened several bank accounts using the documents of people known to them and received the money in
those accounts. The matter came to light in January, when a victim approached police saying that someone was using his photograph on WhatsApp as a ‘display picture’ and was asking for money from his relatives and friends. During the investigation, it was found that the mobile number used by the frauds was also linked to another matter in which the accused had projected himself as an army officer and cheated about ₹ 47,000 offering to sell an old vehicle on OLX website, a senior police officer said. The cheated amount was transferred to a bank account in Alwar, Rajasthan, Jitendra Kumar Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) said.

Bankers are “highly optimistic” about credit demand across all the main sectors in the short term, according to the latest RBI’s survey of lenders. After sagging for the last two years, the non-food credit growth has been hovering above 15 per cent in FY23. “We observe that bankers are highly optimistic of credit demand across all the main sectors in the coming quarters, viz., Q4:202223 to Q2:2023-24,” a paper based on the survey released in the February bulletin of the RBI said. The Bank Lending Survey provides sentiments of banks on loan demand, loan terms, and their outlook in the near term across major sectors. It captures senior loan officers’ expectations on future credit demand along
with adjustments in its terms and conditions and also seeks feedback on prevailing credit market conditions. The current survey covers a panel of top 30 scheduled commercial banks (SCBs), which account for more than 90 per cent of the total outstanding, it said. The paper said bankers’ sentiments on lending in terms of assessment of credit conditions quickly improved after the adverse reaction witnessed during AprilJune 2020 and April-June 2021 due to the first and the second waves of the Covid pandemic, respectively.

India’s forex reserves drop by $8.32 billion to $566.95 billion

India’s forex reserves dropped by USD 8.319 billion to USD 566.948 billion for the week ended February 10, the RBI said on Friday. This is the second consecutive week of drop in the reserves after the USD 1.49-billion decrease in the previous reporting week. It can be noted that in October 2021, the country’s forex kitty had reached an all-time high of USD 645 billion. The reserves have been declining as the central bank deploys the kitty to defend the rupee amid pressures caused majorly by global developments. For the week ended February 10, the foreign currency assets, a major component of the reserves, decreased by USD 7.108 billion to USD 500.587 billion, according to the Weekly Statistical Supplement released by the RBI on Friday. Expressed
in dollar terms, the foreign currency assets include the effect of appreciation or depreciation of non-US units like the euro, pound and yen held in the foreign exchange reserves. Gold reserves decreased for the second week running and were USD 919 million down to USD 42.862 billion, the RBI said. The Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) were also down by USD 190 million to USD 18.354 billion, the RBI said. The country’s reserve position with the IMF was down by USD 102 million to USD 5.145 billion in the reporting week, the apex bank data showed.

Prevest DenPro has reported a net profit of Rs 3.59 crore in the third quarter of FY23, an increase of 8 per cent QoQ, the company informed the exchange in a regulatory filing. The company net profit in the September quarter stood at Rs 3.33 crore. The net profit in the OctoberDecember quarter of FY22 was Rs 3.75 crore. The Jammu-based dental products manufacturer net sales increased to Rs 12.26 crore during the December quarter as compared to Rs 11.41 crore during the same quarter a year ago.
