Mikel Arteta promises to go for title race with Manchester City Arsenal lost the top spot, which they had held since August, to their opponents on goal difference with both teams tied on 51 points

Agency News : New Delhi

Arsenal are “highly motivated” to compete with Manchester City in the Premier League title race, manager Mikel Arteta said on Friday after his side slipped to second in the standings following their midweek 3-1 defeat to Pep Guardiola’s team. Arsenal lost the top spot, which they had held since August, to their opponents on goal difference with both teams tied on 51 points. Arteta’s side, though, have a game in hand and travel on Saturday to face Aston Villa, who are managed by former Arsenal manager Unai Emery. “I know the right things we have to do to continue to be there,” Arteta told reporters. “We have seen where the level is and what we have to do to be at that level. “There are a lot of positive things to take from the season so far... We know that the level of efficiency has to be good with every single game to beat them at the end. We are highly motivated to do that.” Arteta urged his side to be more efficient after they picked up only one point in their last three league games. “... With the amount of play and situations we generated we haven’t had enough points. That is down to us, we have to improve on that because we want to win more games. “So we are highly motivated for tomorrow’s game because we want to win the game,” he added.

Bankers are “highly optimistic” about credit demand across all the main sectors in the short term, according to the latest RBI’s survey of lenders. After sagging for the last two years, the non-food credit growth has been hovering above 15 per cent in FY23. “We observe that bankers are highly optimistic of credit demand across all the main sectors in the coming quarters, viz., Q4:202223 to Q2:2023-24,” a paper based on the survey released in the February bulletin of the RBI said. The Bank Lending Survey provides sentiments of banks on loan demand, loan terms, and their outlook in the near term across major sectors. It captures senior loan officers’ expectations on future credit demand along with adjustments in its terms and conditions and also seeks feedback on prevailing credit market conditions. The current survey covers a panel of top 30 scheduled commercial banks (SCBs), which account for more than 90 per cent of the total outstanding, it said. The paper said bankers’ sentiments on lending in terms of assessment of credit conditions quickly improved after the adverse reaction witnessed during AprilJune 2020 and April-June 2021 due to the first and the second waves of the Covid pandemic, respectively.

Agency News : New Delhi

Minda Corporation, the auto component maker, has acquired 15.70 per cent of the equity of Pricol, leading to questions on whether it is a hostile takeover attempt. The stake purchase was done in the open market, and stock exchange filings by Pricol, which is a leading dashboard maker, show it was unaware about the transaction till it was reported by the media and at the stock exchanges. Minda, however, said that the investment is purely “financial’’ in nature and that it does not provide the company any special rights in Pricol other than the rights as a shareholder.

Minda disclosed that on Friday it acquired 1,91,40,342 equity shares of Pricol, representing a little over 15.70 per cent of Pricol’s total issued and paid-up equity share capital. The shares were acquired at an average price of Rs 208.98 per share aggregating to Rs 400 crore. Shares of both the companies ended in the red on Friday.
