Auburn’s A b ’ Annual A l Night Ni h Out O ‘Shines a Light’ on Crime & Strengthens Police/Community Partnership


“Quality Time” with the APD...

Downtown Auburn Auburn’ss Festival Plaza on Main Street was the scene for the Auburn Police Department’s Annual National Night Out against crime. This year’s event was a resoundingg success,, drawingg hundreds of Auburn residents to Main Street for food, fun, music and some ‘quality time’ with the Auburn PD!


Lots of family style fun...

The Auburn Police Department knows how to throw a community block party and this year’s NNO was no exception! Department staff and volunteers served up more than 600 hotdogs and 500 bags of popcorn, almost 2,000 bags of chips, countless cups of punch & bottles of water, and plenty of family style fun.

...and the kids just loved the face painting, giraffe bounce house, rock-climbing rock climbing wall & National Guard obstacle course.


The Auburn Fire Department brought two ladder trucks... and the Maine Armyy National Guard Humvee was a big hit with the kids!


Our detectives offered finger free child ID and fingerprinting kits using our cutting edge, child child-sized sized fingerprint scanner and computer.Volunteers from Target helped by doing child DNA swabs. A generous corporate partner supplied li d CD’ CD’s and sleeves for the Child ID kits... kits


Everyone loved the live music by the Tony Boffa Band.


There was even a conga line led by Auburn’s Mayor!


Auburn’s Police Chief C ll JJr. warmly l Phil Crowell, welcomed the crowd... “The Auburn Police Department is committed to serving the citizens of Auburn. We strive to ensure the safety of all who live, work and play here. It takes the entire community to push back the darkness of crime. National Night Out is an opportunity for all of us to shine our light into our neighborhoods and to set a goal to take back our parks and leave a lasting legacy. legacy.”
