Watson), the only human girl to ever visit the castle since it was enchanted. Despite her fears, Belle befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and she learns to look beyond the Beast’s exterior to recognise the true heart and soul of the human Prince within. Meanwhile, a hunter named Gaston (Luke Evans) is on the loose to take Belle for himself…. After the success of the liveaction version of The Jungle Book last year, Disney are now speeding on ahead with live-action versions of a lot of their classics, including Aladdin, Dumbo, The Little Mermaid and Pinocchio.

FILM FACTS The part of the Beast was originally offered to Ryan Gosling, who turned it down to appear in La La Land. Coincidentally, the lead female role in La La Land was originally offered to Emma Watson – who obviously turned it down to appear in this film.

n the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces. This third standalone Wolverine film is darker and grittier than the previous two, and should be the best of the bunch by far.

CINEMANEWS
lights, camera,
action! Dean Mortlock checks out the new and improved Westway Cinema!
A
lthough a (not-so) secret gig at the Cheese and Grain by The Foo Fighters tried hard to be the top story this month, the honour clearly has to go to the Westway Cinema, and the fantastic news that it’s once again open for business. Luckily for us all, Pat and Beryl Scott of S&B Cinemas not only stepped in to save the day but also had the vision needed to bring the Westway bang up to date and guarantee its future success. Pat and Beryl have been the owners of the Ritz Cinema in Burnham-on-Sea since 2004, and were delighted to be given the opportunity to take over the Westway – having known the previous owners, the O’Connors, for many years. They’re joined by a great group of staff, including the acting manager Barry Morgan, Francesco and Jackie.

In order to make sure that the new Westway appeals to as many people as possible, they have split the large screening room into three smaller ones – so you’re almost guaranteed to find something you want to watch, and when you want to watch it. All three rooms are more than large enough though, and the state-of-theart screens and projectors mean that you’ll get the full cinematic experience, whatever you go in to watch. There’s even an intermission before the main presentation starts, where a member of staff comes around with a tray of ice creams and treats for you to purchase!
Supporting role We were all devastated last year when the Westway closed after being run as a family business for so long, and the amount of public support in the town for it to reopen showed that it is obviously an important part of community life in Frome. I can remember the first film I saw there (Sid and Nancy in 1986) and I’ve had years of fantastic memories of going to the Westway since then. No expense has been spared in bringing you the ultimate in comfort,
too. The seats are all ergonomically designed to ensure that you’re comfortable, whether you’re watching a 90-minute animation or an epic threehour-long blockbuster, and everything from the toilets to the reception desk have all been updated. Most importantly of all, the cost of all those improvements haven’t been passed onto us, the customers. In fact, it’ll now be cheaper than ever to see a film at the Westway, as tickets are just £4 across the board. To give you an example of how much of a saving that is, if four of you went to see the new Wolverine film Logan in a local multiplex then it would cost you around £45 (we checked a number of multiplex cinemas and the prices were around £11.30 each), while the same film for all four of you at the Westway would cost you just £16.
Widescreen every month from the cinema or one of the many outlets in town that will be displaying copies for us. You can also get upto-date film times on the Westway website at www.westwaycinema.co.uk.
Movie magic With friendly, helpful service, a brilliant selection of films and the knowledge that your support is directly helping a local business to thrive, we’re convinced that the Westway will be with us for many, many years to come. And we’ll be with them every step of the way. To find out which films are heading to the Westway, make sure you pick up your copy of March 2017
