When not running a childrenswear brand, Elad Admon can be found spending time with his girls - going for walks, playing in parks or doing puzzles. They are, after all, his inspiration, "my beautiful wife and daughters," said the Co-Founder of Huxbaby, the Australian minimalist childrenswear brand.
Elad completed his schooling in Perth and moved to Melbourne in his 20s to work in the management consulting industry. He also completed an MBA and Master of Applied Finance at Monash University.
"It's funny because I don't really consider myself that into fashion. I've had a passion for business from an early age - I remember when I was 12 years old offering to wash my neighbour's cars for $5, importing random products from overseas, and selling on eBay whilst at Uni."
Elad and his wife Jennifer were looking for new baby gifts when they noticed the lack of clothing options available. Everything was the traditional pink for girls and blue for boys. This was what sparked the idea of creating a childrenswear brand that was both fashionable and mindfully made.
Huxbaby is now eight years old, starting in their family garage back in 2014 with zero fashion experience. Jennifer was a practising dietitian with a creative flair when things started taking off. The name Huxbaby is a totally made-up one; short and easy to pronounce, so the couple ran with it. After picking a name, the puzzle pieces fell into place. The pair ran everything from design, production and wholesale to shipping, customer service and marketing.
They now have a team of ten passionate staff members. Elad is the Managing Director, looking after business operations and strategy. While Jennifer is the Creative Director, in charge of the overall design and brand direction.
Sustainability is at the core of the Huxbaby brand. Elad believes it is the way of the future for all companies. Making a long-lasting impact and doing right by the environment. Huxbaby constantly strives to refine processes and push itself to keep operations and products as eco-friendly as possible. The brand values customer obsession, teamwork, integrity, passion and community.
Elad noted that there are several exciting projects in the works for the company. He couldn't give too much away but encouraged customers to keep an eye on new product categories and collaborations. Elad's goal is to grow the brand internationally and continue in its sustainability journey. Opening a flagship store is something that may one day be explored too.
