Basketball players move a ball on a court by dribbling, passing, and shooting. Points are scored when a player shoots the ball through the hoop. A basket counts as two or three points, and free throws count one point each. The team scoring the most points wins the game. A basketball game has four quarters. The length of each quarter has 10 minutes. Play starts with a “jump ball” at center court. At halftime, teams switch sides. Each team has a number of time-outs per half. If a game ends in a tie, teams usually play overtime periods until one team wins.

1. The chest pass is the most common pass in the NBA, used for most passes. This involves you pushing the ball with two hands from your chest outwards, thrusting the ball towards a teammate. Used all of the time, the chest pass is the most efficient and reliable way to pass.

2. The bounce pass is the second most common pass in the NBA. This involves a pass, with one hand or two, bounced to a teammate off of the ground. Any way you want to pass, as long as the ball hits the ground first, is considered a bounce pass.

The overhead pass is the third most common pass in the NBA, used sparingly. These are passes that require two hands on the ball. The ball is brought behind your head and launched forward, back over your head to a teammate. Often used for fast breaks to throw to a teammate on the other side of the court, overhead passes are passes that are more for power rather and quickness rather than accuracy. The baseball pass or lance pass is a long pass in which the passer throws the ball with one hand, as if it were a baseball or a football player. It is infrequently used, mainly to set up last-second plays off a baseline inbounding situation.

ďƒ˜ Body position

Your feet should be slightly wider than shoulder width apart. Bottom Down - Staying low helps maintain balance. Hands up and opened. Man-to-man defense is a type of defensive tactic used in basketball in which each player is assigned to defend and follow the movements of a single player on offense.. The alternative to man-to-man defense is zone defense , in which the defender is assigned a specific area of the floor, and then guards whatever offensive player enters his area.
