Floorball is an indoor team sport which originated in Sweden  It is played with plastic sticks and a light plastic ball.  The aim is to put the ball into the opponent ś goal. 


MATCH RULES ď‚ž

A game consists of three 20-minute periods, with extra time and penalties if scores end up equal

ď‚ž

At any one time, five outfield players and one goalie are allowed on the rink (the court), but up to 20 players are allowed in the squad and players may be substituted without stopping play


STROKE IN: the first throw, at the beginning of the match  STROKE OFF: It ś done after scoring a goal. It ś taken in the middle of the playing court. You can play the ball in both directions.  STROKE FREE or free hit: It ś taken where the foul took place. The opponents must be at least 3m away from the player taking the stroke free. You can t́ hit the ball directly to the goal  PENALTY STROKE: It ś taken from a spot 7 m away from the goal.


STICK AND BALL:  Sticks are usually between 80-100 cm long and are very light weight  The official ball is 72mm in diameter and weighs 23 g.  It is made out of white plastic


PLAYERS AND GOALS Each team has 5 players and one goalie on the court at a time  Floorball goals are 160 x 115 cm.  Goalies play on their knees and block with their hands and body  They do not use a stick 


THE RINK The international standard for floorball rink is 40 x 20 m. (like futsal)

Violations punished with foul (free hit or stroke free): -Raising the stick above the knee, to trap or try to play the ball -Hitting the ball with the head, arms or the hands -Playing the ball while lying on the floor -Pushing an opponent -Blocking or hitting the opponent ś stick. -Passing the ball with the feet. -Going into the goal area with any part of their body (attacking p.)

More serious violations, punished with penalty: -Hitting an opponent with the stick or attacking them violently -Dangerous play -Putting the sticks between an opponent ś legs or tripping them up -Going into the goal area with any part of their body (defending p.) -Throwing the stick during the game -Insulting the opponents or referees.
