OLD & NEW Editor’s Letter Welcome to Issue #3, showcasing more talented photographers who shoot using analogue methods. It’s important for us to print these on paper with no gimmicks and no contrived layouts. For the front cover, it’s a great pleasure to feature the magical work of The Gentleman Amateur. I can look at his work for hours without loss of thought. Im a big fan of his vision and i know many of our readers are also big supporters. That said, there isn’t a page in this issue that i don’t like, which is thanks to the curating skills of our Content Editor, AprilLea Hutchinson. As 62ND FLOOR develops, we will be publishing more fashion shoots shot on film/polaroid and lots of candid and weird visuals. -Ian Cole

JORGEN AXELVALL & MASAKI KATAOKA Photographer: Jorgen Axelvall Styling: Masaki Kataoka Model: Henrik at Donna Models, Tokyo Photographer: Jorgen Axelvall
Stylist: Masaki Kataoka
Originally from Sweden, last year Jorgen relocated to Tokyo after having spent 15 years in NYC.
Masaki is currently based in Tokyo and previously lived and worked in NYC.
“I happened to arrive in Japan at the exact time of the Tohoku earthquake on March 11th 2011. Interesting time.
“I love combining clothes, whether it’s women’s haute couture or men’s casuals. For me it’s all about conveying a mood or a feeling and with this story I feel like the texture of the polaroids add another layer.”
I see myself as a visual artist in the wider meaning, trying my best to avoid labels such as fashion, lifestyle or any other prefix.

This story was shot entirely on polaroid, my old expired stock. But I like it all; be it polaroid, film or digital for stills. Or super 8, 16mm or HD for moving images. They are all just different tools." website: www.jorgenoff.com

THE GENTLEMAN AMATEUR Title: Untitled Photographer: The Gentleman Amateur The Gentleman Amateur is a photographer based in London, England, who remains committed to shooting Polaroids for as long as he possibly can. He loves their rich textures and colours, and their ability to represent subjective experiences such as dreams, memories and fleeting impressions. Recently he has been experimenting with Polaroid double exposures, fascinated by the way they open up complex relationships between people and landscapes. actual subject of a photograph can.
Jake is a photographer from Pittsburgh, PA. He was introduced to photography through the small darkroom his father built in the house they lived in. He shoots film.
I'm inspired by classic street photography by Henri Cartier-Bresson, W. Eugene Smith and Bruce Davidson; the concert photography of Jim Marshall, Glen Friedman and Angela Boatwright. The candid shots of youth culture of Larry Clark. As well as contemporary photographers like Estevan Oriol, Boogie, Andy Mueller and Dennis McGrath.
The majority of his work is 35mm black and white but he also shoots medium format and polaroid. In his own words “I'm drawn to the experimental and rough aspects of film photography. I like the fact that a change in temperature, method of agitation or grade of paper can change the final outcome of a photograph. I believe that grain of the film and natural lighting can convey just as much emotion as the
Other inspirations for my work include punk rock; east coast hip hop; the artistic integrity of the beat generation; and the stream of conscious poetry of greats like Whitman and Bukowski.

EJ HOLMES Title: Together We’ll Burn Photographer: EJ Holmes EJ Holmes is a photographer and lover of photographs. He is currently living in Montreal until he figure’s out where to go next... “I love old cameras and film and primarily shoot in that medium, but I still pull out the digi cam every now and again for something else to play with. I develop all my own film in my bathroom and have a vintage camera collection that is getting a bit out of control... My genre ranges from soft erotic to just plain rediculous and silly.” Website: www.wix.com/ejholmes/ejholmes
