BURBERRY PRORSUM AW13 www.burberry.com
There's more than a touch of kinkiness to this collection, brilliantly fused with a naughty sixties vibe. Christopher Bailey juxtaposes a classic silhouette of belted coats, and pencil skirts and sweaters with decidedly kinky fabrics such a sheer rubber & latex. There is an amusing innuendo of a flasher in a mac, but it is just the merest echo, overridingly the collection speaks as a fun, stylish and classy ode to his muse, the sassy, charming and scandalised Christine Keeler.

PAUL SMITH AW13 www.paulsmith.co.uk
Rich, manly, retro, with excellent tailoring, this is what you come to expect from Paul Smith and this collection had all those elements. It has wearability while being bold and interesting, and has some very cool Mod touches. The colours are electric, and there is great use of shearling, wool and suede, which is what you want from an A/W collection. Standout pieces included the boyish trousers, an oversize shearling biker jacket, and the suede funnel neck dress and sunglasses combo. A firm favourite.

UNIQUE AW13 www.topshop.com
This collection sublimely combined a beautiful colour palette and eclectic fabric mix, including sumptuous wools, mirror finish patent leather and glossy sparkling metallic with a simple but clever use of proportions to create an off-kilter silhouette. The coats in particular are stand out pieces with great integrity. There was a distinct Britpop era feel to the collection, but it has been updated with great success and feels relevant and youthfully chic.

PETER PILOTTO AW13 www.peterpilotto.com
The Peter Pilotto show is a highlight of LFW. Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos design clothes for strong fearless women, and embraced this even more so this season. The silhouette leans toward masculin, angled, boxy and intimidating, in a good way, giving the collection lots of bad ass appeal. But also features nipped waists and pencil skirts bringing sexy femininity to the look. The prints and textures are as ever very bold, but balanced and chic, modern and relevant.

MOSCHINO CHEAP & CHIC AW13 www.moschino.com
This collection embraced British pop culture with an energetic, touch of tongue in cheek rebelliousness. But there had to be some rebellion, what with all the punk references. The Moschino Cheap & Chic look is always fun in a bubble gum and red lipstick Lolita way, and this season does not disappoint; and its been given the added bonus of a bad girl punk makeover. Stand out details were the pink colour palette, unexpected execution of tuxedo lapels, leopard prints, fuzzy fur and creeper style heels.

MARQUES ALMEIDA AW13 www.marquesalmeida.com
This collection speaks with attitude, championing a relaxed deconstructed aesthetic. Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida have been showing us how to do laid back young sexiness for a couple of seasons now, and they continue to refine this apparently raw effortless style, however the construction of these pieces is technically excellent. They resume their exploration of all the possibilities of denim, along with some beautiful knitwear that has a hint of grunge about it.

LOUISE GRAY AW13 www.louisegraylondon.com
Louise Gray is flying the flag for English eccentricity at its best. This season she continues to develop and refine her signature style, along with some hilarious accessories, from earrings made of whisks to loo paper roll knuckle rings. The collection seems like it wouldn't work off the catwalk but it actually feels really wearable, with a lot of pieces that are very desirable as statement items. It's positive collection and a breath of fresh air, it inspires you to be a bit bonkers, to take a few risks rather than being humdrum. Good on the girl, may she long keep up the good fight against boredom.

NICOLE FARHI AW13 www.nicolefarhi.com
One of the strongest Nicole Farhi shows in recent years and a standout LFW collection. It would seem that newly appointed creative director Joanna Sykes is giving this brand a bit of a reboot, and its good. The overall feel is much more manly, with a strong and relevant point of view. The tailoring is razor sharp, the silhouette mannish and angular, the fabrics interesting, and all styled with a touch of laissez faire attitude and rebellion to it. I actually can't wait to see what they will be bringing to the table next season.

ASHISH AW13 www.ashish.co.uk
The men are most definitely at work this season. Ashish's grunge girl has been given a new uniform, right down to the glammed up high vis vest. Pieces were slouchy and deconstructed, with reflective tape and safety belt detailing, and included dashes of bright fluorescents and techno fabrics. And the collection retains enough of the exuberant use of sequins that are his signature as to keep his die hard fans happy.

“The former stomping ground of pirate smugglers and gypsy kings” Paulo at the local bar tells us. There is a surfer beach with crashing rollers that feels like the end of the world, in fact the next bit of land you would hit is America; its backed by dark velvety, mist crowned cliffs and there are dinosaur proportioned cacti further inland. Yeah it’s the Algarve, and yeah it’s full of tourists, but it sure is beautiful. Where better to shoot some sparkly treasure. Maison Martin Margiela
Kiehl’s
(untitled) is direct and spontaneous, cool and sparkling, green and raw. Its simplicity echoes the style of Maison Martin Margiela style, classics with a new twist. It captures boxwood, galbanum, bitter orange and incense, along with jasmine, cedar and musk.
From Kiehl's’ Aromatic Blends collection, this fragrance combines the calming aroma of Asian pear blossom and rich, sweet pink grapefruit for a scent with citrus, floral, spicy, fruity, and fresh as its main accords, recalling trees in full spring bloom.
The fragrance reinterprets aromas of greenery after rain, and is characterized by the green, woody, balmy, citrus, and fresh accords. The nose behind this fragrance is Daniela Andrier, and Fabien Baron designed the bottle.
Aromatic Blends represents Kiehl's authentic apothecary heritage of inspiring fragrance blends. Combining ingredients from around the world, the unique fragrances utilise sustainable sourcing methods and the finest natural ingredients.
Chloe
Chanel
L'Eau de Chloe is light and refreshing, free, spontaneous, and radiant, with crisp and citrusy chypre-floral notes. The composition, created by Michel Almairac, features sparkling citrus, accords of rose petals and natural distilled rose water that give a dewy character to the fragrance, and a warm and elegant veil provided by patchouli.
N°19 was created for Coco Chanel to use, and to give to friends and favourite clients, the name refers to her birthday. Launched in 1970 when Coco Chanel was 87 years old, it was created by Henri Robert, who created many of the other perfumes at the Chanel house.
The face of the fragrance is a model Camille Rowe-Pourcheresse, and the very talented Camilla Akrans photographed the campaign.
The composition of green floral top notes of galbanum, lily of the valley, and woody dusky note of iris and bergamot, and the floral heart that includes neroli, rose, jasmine, and a leathery-woody base give the scent its green, woody, floral, powdery, earthy accords. It remains a classic popular scent, and great for spring, as it’s both fresh and elegant.
