UNICEF Response The first UNICEF supplies arrived in the Philippines within 72 hours of Typhoon Haiyan striking, supplementing pre-positioned UNICEF supplies in the country. As the scale of the disaster became evident, and a Level 3 emergency was declared, UNICEF Supply, in coordination with the Philippines Country Office, has flown more than 500 metric tonnes of emergency supplies into the country. In addition to supplies, 14 supply and logistics staff have been deployed to support the local emergency response, including receiving goods, warehousing, distribution and monitoring of goods to ensure they are reaching the affected population.
