Dubai: embracing Design & Innovation More opportunities for architects & designers planning for leading in various sectors from renewable energy, entrepreneurship, automation to culturally relevant art pieces. Dubai Holding launched The Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) for developing and attracting design talent. With creative innovation as the key driver for fuelling sustainable development, the design institute will support development of talent in UAE and across several countries. Partnership with Boston's MIT and Parson School of Design clearly shows the level of quality education it is aiming for. Following DIDI, Dubai Design District (d3) was developed as a master-plan development dedicated to the design community. With 11 office buildings, it will also include a 1.8km waterfront development. In partnership with d3, Dubai Design Week was started in 2015 to put a spotlight on Dubai as region's design city. I was thrilled to visit the latest show and could clearly see the seeds of a developing design hub. A recent research by MENA Design Education Outlook in collaboration with D3 shows the requirement for around 30,000 design graduates by 2019. Photography: Madhurima Chowdhury

We had a chance meeting with ace photographer Ramesh Shukla and his son Neel Shukla who is a leading interior designer. It is a delight to present Ramesh Shukla's story of UAE through his lens. Read the Brand Buzz to know more. Last but not the least, the work of Stefano Core of ItalianCreationGroup is praise worthy. I think the industry really was in need of something like this with people, not only professionals but end user could also be educated with the kind of 'Surfaces' available because the material industry is really coming out with new materials all the time. So it educates you; it opens various avenues for professional like us as well.

You guys are definitely doing a great job because we need more such platforms which can actually inform the end-users about what new innovations are happening. You are actually the bridge between the creators and the consumers. It’s a great platform and we need more of your support apart from just reading magazines, I think the way you are engaging the business community with the creative personals is a great initiative definitely.
