CHARITY FEAST

Volunteer marketing manger, Scott Talbot, and Queenscliff Seafood Feast founders Grant and Michelle Talbot are supporting vital charities and ‘putting Queenscliff on the map’ with their inspirational philanthropic endeavours.

Queenscliff prepar for its biggest weekend of the year with more than 20,000 people expected to attend the eagerly anticipated Good Friday Seafood Feast BY ALISON MARTIN QUEENSCLIFF will etch its name in history and into Australia’s major event calendar on Good Friday, when the annual seafood feast is taken to a remarkable new level. The proven success of the Queenscliff Seafood Feast, which raises significant funds for Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal and attracts thousands of visitors, will be further boosted with new feature events. Volunteer marketing manager, Scott Talbot, said introducing the first ‘over-the-water’ Charity Restaurant and seafood show on the pier created

more diversity and provided extra incentive for people to come to the Bellarine. “We will have Australia’s largest Seafood Feast, with the choices ranging from an $8 plate to a $25 sharing platter or four courses at the five-star Charity Restaurant,” he said. “It’s going to be an incredible seafood and culinary experience, with the largest super kitchen in the world preparing 6.5 tonnes of seafood and a team of 450 volunteers to bring it all together.” The Good Friday charity event will also include live entertainment performed by world-class performers and two free circus performances presented by Sunrise Circus.

“The circus [which features quality performances and no animals] will add another attraction for children and a gold coin donation will add to our fundraising,” Talbot said. Another new addition – the two-day Seafood Show – will open simultaneously with the Queenscliff Seafood Feast, with more than 20,000 visitors expected over Good Friday and Easter Saturday. The show will offer an unprecedented opportunity to explore and purchase recreational fishing and seafood products direct through the 46 exhibitors, including industry leaders, buyers and sellers. Further along the pier, the waiting shed will be transformed into an elaborate bar for guests of the

Charity Restaurant – the six-day only, five-star culinary extravaganza. The carpeted restaurant marquee will cover the far end of the historic pier where guests will be treated to a superb seafood lunch or four-course dinner and show, with romantic water views and perfect presentation. “All of these things increase the profile of the event and make it easier for us to attract sponsors and donations for next year,” Talbot said. “It’s going to be a mammoth undertaking but Queenscliff will thrive and it’s going to really put Queenscliff on the map.” For more information visit www.seafoodfeast.org
