Voted by the surfers as the favorite event on tour, Lowers never lets us down. Even if she tries, maybe even for a double restart. Eventually,

she

can’t

hold

back.

She’s just too fun and loving. We definitely didn’t get her best this time but that’s OK. It was that time of the month (red tide). Last year she was stunning enough for us to give her a break this go around. You don’t appreciate what you have unless you sometimes don’t have it. — Jimmicane

Good from far but far from Hobgood. Damien tees off on a single-wave set.

As good as he is at vert and bowls, Kelly can still kill a mini-ramp.

Mick teaches us an important lesson: always embrace the guy who gives you a magic board.

Dave Stansfield is still wondering if this is a slob or a mute. I’ll give ya a clue: Julian’s rotating frontside. That means it’s a SLOB! Write that down. Photo: Jimmicane
