For 2016 all kites are equipped with the completely redesigned Airport Valve II. To ensure user friendliness the non-return valve has a valve cage which prevents damages of the setback membrane in the inside
valve is suitable for both, inflation and deflation. The deflation option is integrated, which means no external deflation pin is required. Deflation is simply activated by turning the blue wheel on the inside of the valve completely to the right. PLEASE NOTE: Should you choose to deflate the kite via the DUMP VALVE, ensure to loosen the valve cap of the Airport Valve II before opening the dump valve. This prevents a possible rotating of the bladder in a deflated state. A short sizzling noise, which is a very small amount of air escaping from the interspace of the valve, when taking off the bayonet fitting is normal. The valve enables fatigue-proof inflation due to the bigger air passage. Even bigger kites will be inflated with ease! The new North Kiteboarding pump works 100% perfect with the Airport Valve I and II.

of the bladder. Reassembling of the secure ring is completely easy due to a secure ring tool which is additionally delivered. This new system doesn’t need a velcro system and is not twistable. The thread of the Airport Valve II is redesigned and is less affected by sand or other materials. The top of the valve can be opened and closed easily. The Airport Valve’s II unique construction has several advantages, but first and foremost it saves time rigging and gives you more time on the water. The valve works with any conventional pump or compressor as it can be connected directly to the bayonet insert of the hose. The

We expect a lot from the people who manufacture our kites. This is why we work with technically trained employees, familiar with high tech production techniques, equipped with years of knowledge and experience. These experts are highly motivated due to a long-term investment in their capabilities, controlled working conditions and a fair wage system.
A number of construction details optimized in the Progression Q process have resulted in innovations made by North Kiteboarding that have become industry standard. North Kiteboarding stays at the cutting edge of R&D by working with two experienced kite designers and numerous product developers, who work closely with each other to ensure every improvement and development is transferred to each kite model in our range. Durability and functionality of our products are a direct result of their experience and workflow.
TQM METHOD – THE QUALITY CHECK CARD
COMPUTERISED SEWING

FUSION STRUT
A detailed quality control system has been developed, controlling every step starting with the delivery of raw materials to the factory and ending with the final delivery of kites to our customers. In between, every single stage is optimized to the smallest detail. The quality check card is the key to keeping precise control over the process for every individual kite at every stage.
All critical seams are done with computer supported sewing machines. This avoids human mistakes and inconsistencies, increases the productivity and reduces waste from cut off materials; it is the only way to create a perfect and consistent result every time.
As kite geometry improves, the canopy must continue to resist increasing forces. To spread these forces, Load-Distribution-Panels are used, holding the kite’s shape even under the most extreme loads. In practice this gives a smoother and more consistent performance from the kite in any riding situation.
This construction allows for a controlled distribution of forces between strut and leading edge. Struts are 100% connected to the leading edge with a flexible Dyneema line, which promotes higher canopy tension and a clean profile.
GLUED ZIGZAG STITCHES
Every single seam is stitched with a zigzag sewing technique. They are first glued then stitched. The result is a clean, good-looking and highly durable stitch, which supports the overall stability of the kite.

COMPUTERIZED CUTTING
Computerized cutting ensures millimetre precise working pieces, a minimum of waste and a maximum of efficiency of the cutting process itself. This way the high expectations of our two kite designers can be met to their full satisfaction.
ZIPPERLESS STRUT
A strut without zippers means less weight, and results in smoother flying characteristics and increased durability. These advantages outweigh the slightly more tedious process required when changing a strut bladder.
D O U B L E-V P I GTA I L S
These pigtails distribute the load of the line connections to the kite, minimizing the risk of fatigue, making the kite less prone to distortion and helps it to steer more smoothly.

KOOK PROOF CONNECTORS
The kook proof line connection points prevent accidents by guaranteeing that you cannot accidentally connect your lines incorrectly when rigging your kite.
H E AVY D U TY L E A D I N G E D G E C LOS I N G S E A M
The leading edges of all kites are extremely durable due to a special heavy duty closing seam. The Dacron material at the leading edge is reinforced with a self sticky Insignia Tape and double stitched additionally. The Heavy Duty Leading Edge Closing Seam is resistant to very high tensions and diagonal forces.
TRAILING EDGE FORCE CONTROL
The Trailing Edge Force Control is responsible for the smooth power distribution between the different materials of the kite, forcing the tensions in the right directions. Since 2013 the waves are higher and wider to eliminate stress points between the Dacron Trailing Edge and the D2 Canopy material. This change in construction reduces fluttering marks and ensures that the material is not wearing out.
ANTI SNAG
The Anti Snag webbing is preventing the lines from tangling around the tip of the kite. Waterstarts are made easier and safety is increased.

SELF-RESCUE HANDLES
The self-rescue handles on the inside of the wingtips can be easily found in case of an offshore break down. They provide a good, comfortable grip while sailing back to the shore during a self-rescue manoeuvre.

1. Modified valve thread to prevent sand and other materials to block the valve top
3. A new valve cage with reinforced base protects the sealing flap from twisting, bending and falling-off.
2. Blue Secure-Ring ensures the valve stays in place and prevents the leading edge from twisting. Individualized red tool-kit to fasten and unfasten the blue ring comes with every kite.
4. The new North Kiteboarding pump is equipped with a rubber sealing ring to perfectly seal the valve so no air leakage anymore during the inflation process. The correct position is achieved when the red arrow on the pump and the valve are facing each other. The pump works perfectly on all Airport Valves up from 2014.
LOADED 5TH LINE
The loaded 5th line is a “nose line” with constant tension. This tension is responsible for reactive steering, powered as well as depowered and a crisp and direct bar feel. Only the 5th line system can guarantee 100 % depower in less than one second when releasing the Iron Heart.

WHAT IS D2
WHY
For more than 7 years North Kiteboarding has been employing Technoforce D2 on all kites in the range. To create this exceptional material the single yarn is coated before being woven to one fabric. As an additional step, the whole canopy material is coated a second time thus creating a fabric whose durability is unmatched in the industry. In order to further improve and optimize the fabric for kite specific requirements, our team is continuously testing, developing and evolving it in close collaboration with Teijin, the world market
We love our kites so we want them to last as long as possible. Kites regularly are exposed to factors that wear them off. Especially UV light strongly influences the ageing of the kite. Exposing your kite to UV light for too long can reduce the crisp steering and flying feeling – sometimes within days.
leader in polyester fabrics.
D2 – DOUBLE COATED CANOPY
A D D I T I O N A L B E N E F I T S O F D2 – U N I Q U E F LY I N G CHARACTERISTICS
Due to the Double Coating, the material stays crisp for longer. The unique coating procedure is not just protecting the final canopy, but every single yarn is coated before the final weaving process and therefore every single yarn has an additional layer of protection. Even if the coating comes off the first layer, the yarns themselves stay coated. Not just protected from the sun, but also from salt crystals, sand, small stones and other sharp objects.
› Higher diagonal stiffness than normal canopy materials. › Higher performance: The stiffer overall structure stabilizes the kite and makes it faster. › Crisp and very direct response to steering input. Due to the dynamic pressure forces on kites, the stiffness of a kite is immensely important regarding the flying characteristics of a kite.
Step 1 - Coating of the single yarn
Keep in mind that the kite canopy material still is a delicate fabric. Fins and sharp objects can cause small scratches when being used for securing the kite on the ground. These may appear harmless but can destroy the kite during the next session when forces impact the canopy.
Step 2 - Weaving of the coated single yarns to one fabric
Step 3 - Coating of the whole canopy material

Dice 2016 - a n inside v ie w by R a l f Grö sel K I T E S
RALF GRÖSEL Ralf Grösel is the creator of the Dice; a versatile shredding machine. A kite that will meet the high demands of freestylers and wakestylers but as well will work for most waveriders. Ralf brought his visions to life, resulting in a bestseller and a favourite amongst the respected media ‘test teams’. For 2016, Ralf’s mission was to redefine it in order to suit the overall performance attributes required, whilst providing the most direct handling and best feedback of all 3-strut kites.
What was the task at the very beginning of the development for season 2016? The aim at the very start of the development process was to compare the Dice to other 3 strut performance kites on the market. The next step was to take our design to the next level and create an even better Dice. What are the main differences of the Dice compared to other 3-strut constructions? The Dice offers the most direct handling and feedback of all 3-strut kites, with that great, familiar North Kiteboarding feeling. It’s a kite which best suits the needs of any freestyler or even wakestyler. Compared to other performance 3-strut kites, the drift is good and even fulfils the needs dedicated by wave riders who know how to steer a kite. Furthermore, it is highly suited to those wanting a very versatile kite which jumps well, loops confidently and is stable when unhooked. For freeriding it’s a reliable companion you can trust at any time. When compared to 2015, the idea was to redefine it and enhance its freeride abilities. The development of power is always smooth, linear and predictable along with a soft increase of pressure on the bar. The rider can always feel what the kite is doing at any time, making the Dice way more reliable then most other kites. For a 3-strut design the Dice is very soft and forgiving. Even in gusty conditions the force is not delivered to the rider, but absorbed through the profile of the kite. The 2016 Dice has a significant improved low end compared to the previous model, related to the increased delta and slightly more draft back profiles. What are the main differences of the small and big sizes? The small kites’ aspect ration/extension (10 m 2 and less) is a bit less, creating the same, familiar feeling a rider would expect from the bigger sizes. With a more closed profile, the kite is very balanced - powered as well as depowered! This results in laid back 3 0
and smooth sailing for smaller kites, whilst retaining outstanding agility, predictability and playfulness. The bigger Dices from 10 m 2 upwards have a higher aspect ratio. Big kites usually have to have a high aspect ratio in order to create a lot of depower, with the same depower length at the bar. With a closed Cone and a big angle of attack, good general grunt is achieved as well as increased light wind performance. One tool to accomplish this is an increased Delta, which also improves the waterstart performance of the Dice, especially in the larger sizes and compared to previous years. What’s your recommendation on the different settings? You have the choice of three different setups. The recommended setup is the Medium Setup - that’s how the kite is delivered and suitable for any kind of conditions. My personal recommendation is the Hard Setting and I’ll explain why. For Freestyle and Wakestyle moves, agility and the turning speed of the kite is not that important, but pop and stability is key! For the average Freerider, uninterested in unhooked tricks but wanting a very comfortable and easy going kite, the Soft Setting is the right choice. The Dice then pivots fast and is direct whilst having very low steering forces. This ‘Softie-Setting’ is comparable to other well known 3-strut kites. How’s the Dice when compared to the wave specific Neo? It’s impossible to create the same drift that the Neo has as such a performer, but the drifting abilities of the Dice are very good when compared to other 3-strut kites. The Dice is super versatile in waves, but needs to be steered a bit more than the Neo for the same amount of fun when on the wave. Even when completely sheeted out the Dice is direct. The depower for wave riding is great and can be achieved quickly.
What are the advantages for the average rider, let’s say a typical freerider? For the classic freerider, the handling of the Dice is nothing short of brilliant. It does everything you’d expect from a kite. You always know where it is within the wind window, it’s very predictable and jumps high with power and lift. The Dice combines the best of jumping and all-round riding abilities, whilst the great bar handling gives the rider a lot of trust in the kite. Even Megaloops are easy to get into for the not so experienced rider. So why should a customer buy a Dice? Because he wants to have fun in any conditions and the Dice offers that in the most sporty way. It’s the perfect kite for everyone who loves the versatility of the sport and does not want to see any limitations from their equipment. One day it’s surf time, one day a hardcore wakestyle session or cruising from left to right on a Sunday afternoon. One thing is for sure: the Dice is an active kite that will challenge the rider to be dynamic, try new things and be active on the water. The Dice delivers you the freedom to decide on any direction of the sport at any second, just change from boots to a strapless board and go out again. Just keep in mind, the moment you’re going for freestyle, it’s a must to change to the hard setting!
Which line length do you use on the different kites? My recommendation according to how the kite sizes are developed is 22 m for the smaller kites – up to 10 m 2 . Everything above this size is better suited to 24 m lines. What’s new in 2016 to 2015 in a nutshell? › A higher delta angle on the tip, which results in better low end performance. › A slimmer centre profile for more speed and better low end. › Increased structural stiffness on the tips to prevent tips from shaking. › Straight LazyPump system. › Newly designed Canopy-Dacron-patches to protect the LazyPump system.
› Draft-back profile for increased low end and smooth drifting ability.

Any job. We’ve done things different by giving this freeride machine 5 struts instead of 3 struts, because we believe in it. Why? Because with our 5-strut design that has been refined year after year, we’ve achieved a kite that offers up an exceptional wind range, greater stability, superior depower and progressive sheet and go characteristics. If you’re looking for one kite to do it all then look no further, the Evo will have you flying high like Tom Hebert, coming in hot at the line-up and slashing waves or simply freeriding. For those looking to ride un-
hooked every now and again, it has just the right amount of freestyle performance you’re looking for. Riding waves, you’ll be surprised by the turing and drift. Delivering a precise and direct feel with power, whatever your style you’ll feel right at home with the Evo. In addition to all its greatness, for 2016 it features the improved LazyPump system with a greater airflow; getting you on the water first. There are many kites out there that claim to ”do it all”, try the Evo and decide yourself what it can’t do! The Evo is not the ”Jack of all trades”. It’s the master of them all.

› BEST DRIFTING ABILITY › RESPONSIVE STEERING WHEN DEPOWERED › QUICK & CONSISTENT TURNING › VERY POWERFUL (CHOOSE 1-2 KITE SIZES SMALLER) › EASY WATER RELAUNCH › MODERATE DELTA 3 STRUT DESIGN The Neo is the definition of a high performance wave kite and continues to meet the needs of the rider with ease. Thanks to the design concept behind the Neo and the power it delivers, riders are able to use at least 1-2sqm less in comparison to any other kite. This advantageous aspect further enhances its already rapid turning abilities, effortless float down the line, and responsiveness to handling which when combined, ensures ease of manoeuvrability on the wave. Taking wipeouts into consideration, we’ve made the Neo incredibly easy to relaunch so you can get up and away before the next wave hits. The new Anti-Snag leading edge tips will keep the kite tangle free no matter how bad the crash.
For 2016, legendary kite designer Ken Winner has been tweaking the geometry of the Neo to achieve even more depower, whilst maintaining the famous low end power delivery. This provides an intuitive feel to the hands, leaving you to concentrate on the wave rather than where the kite is. Ken has also worked on a new tip strut shape, making the Neo even faster through the turn. If you want to ride the best waves in the world, you’ll need the best wave kite on the market to take you there. The Neo is the ultimate engine for slaying the waves!

Neo 2016 - a n insigh t v ie w w i t h K en W inner
KEN WINNER Ken Winner is the visionary, drive and innovation behind two of the most pinnacle kite models within the North Kiteboarding range. Following the rise in popularity within wave riding, and bridging the crucial gap and demands of the directional and twintip customer, Ken went on to design and develop the Neo; a high performance wave riding machine, with excellent freeride characteristics. The Neo delivers specific attributes, yet welcome the demand for a more broad and overall outstanding ride. The Neo represents a strong sense of individuality to the customer, pioneering and entertaining the commercial market of Kiteboarding. This year, there are exciting and influential advancements in the design of the Neo, and the evolution from one year to the next, clearly highlights the progression in our line of products.
“THE PROGRESSION OF THE NEO WAS STRAIGHTFORWARD. FOR 2016 WE WORKED ON BOOSTING ITS VERSATILITY. WE ACHIEVED THIS BY ENHANCING BOTH I T S W A V E A N D F R E E R I D E Q U A L I T I E S , W I T H I M P R O V E D D E P O W E R . ” Ken Winner
So what are the major changes we’ll see this year in the Neo?
Tuned Flex - what can we think of talking about tuned Flex?
This year we’ve achieved a lot and completed our mission of delivering outstanding and high performance wave and freeride traits in one kite. Ultimately, the biggest developments can be found in the canopy profile, at the struts in the tip and the flex they deliver.
Testing 1-strut Kites highlighted the softer feel that the lack of tip struts delivers, and we wanted to implement that ‘feel’ with the low flutter smoothness of the 3-strut Neo. Leading us to thinner tip struts, for 2016 you will see them flex when loaded, sheeting in, or doing a tight turn. Similar to the feathers in a bird’s wing, the flex comes into the back half, making the Neo extremely responsive, and able to hook a turn unlike no other.
Tell us more about the canopy. The centre point of the Neo’s canopy has a slightly flatter profile and a more open cone (longer trailing edge). This combination gives both better depower and a crisper, more direct feel at the bar. These changes also mean that the bar is less prone to pull away from the rider in gusts, and when turning the kite.
In general on the first view the Neo stayed a classic Neo, on a second look, you’ll realize all the small details and a summery of changes which makes the Neo an even better wave kite, with a lot of attributes which will please the high expectations of modern freeriders.
What design updates will be seen in the struts? The struts at the tips have a deeper, more draft-back profile. This drives power into the tips of the kite and enhances turning performance. Of course, this deepening of the profile can be overdone (we crossed that line during the prototype phase) causing fluttering and too much bar pressure. We managed to fine tune the draft in these struts for an optimised balance between overall bar pressure and turning force. 3 6

› BIGGEST WIND RANGE › BEST HANGTIME AND HIGHEST JUMPS › BEST SHEET & GO POWER DEVELOPMENT › GREAT UPWIND PERFORMANCE › EASY WATER RELAUNCH › LOADED 5TH LINE The new 2016 Rebel is the ultimate kite for huge jumps and massive hangtime! There have been quite a few changes across the range this year to ensure it still delivers the maximum performance across all the sizes. The smaller sizes in the range now feature a lower aspect ratio, which makes them smoother in gusty winds whilst also improving the turning speed of the kite. This makes the smaller Rebels even livelier than before without loosing stability and still allows you to boost huge airs. The middle sizes in the range offer the perfect blend between turning speed, handling and jumping ability. The profile and aspect ratio
of these kites has been tweaked to offer amazing performance. The 12m to 14m kites now have a higher aspect ratio, which offers higher jumps, longer hangtime and better power delivery with a smooth bar feel. The big 16m Rebel shares a similar shape and profile with the 14m, but the bigger 16 has more of an emphasis on low end power and jumping ability replacing the Rebel 18. The Rebel has always been the class-leading kite; now each size has been designed to offer the ultimate in freeride and jumping performance regardless of the wind conditions.

2016 Rebel by K en W inner EL IS A LONGSTANDING DESIGN WITH THOUSANDS OF FANS. LOVES THE REBEL WANTS TO SEE IT CHANGE MUCH, SO OUR GOAL TO FINE-TUNE THE DETAILS AND ENSURE THAT EACH SIZE WORKS C A N F O R T H E T Y P E O F R I D I N G I T ’ S B E S T S U I T E D T O . ” Ken Winner
What are the major changes we will see for 2016?
Tell us about the optimum air pressure for the Rebel.
This year we’ve optimised the aspect ratios of different sizes. The larger sizes are oriented toward power for big air and great hangtime, without losing handling abilities. The smaller sizes lean towards handling, depower and stability, for top performance in high winds. The 14 m 2 & 16 m 2 have a higher aspect ration of 5.5 in order to enhance low end performance and jumping. A shorter chord length spills excess wind, making it easier to hold down a big kite when overpowered. For the 12 m 2 & 13 m 2 , once again we’ve raised the aspect ration to deliver the perfect combination of a lively feel and juicy power. No matter how hard we tried, we were unable to improve performance of the 9 m 2 - 11 m 2 via aspect ratio, however we did make subtle refinements enhance overall feeling. In the smaller 6 m 2 - 8 m 2 sizes, the 4.8 aspect ratio delivers a new, super smooth and rounded turning ability, without any loss of its renowned jumping traits. These sizes absolutely rock! Also, we’ve made a reduction in the overall weight. Aside from free weights and wakeboarding boats, low weight is almost universally desired in sports products. For 2016 we’ve yet again reduced weight from the Rebel without affecting the durability in any way.
Rebels work best when inflated to 6 psi. They lose some performance at lower inflation pressures, but will still fly pretty well. By contrast, many kites on the market these days need 8 or 10 psi to fly correctly.
Why does the Rebel still use the loaded 5th Line System? It remains a 5-line kite for all the obvious reasons. The Short depower stroke and crisp feel is ideal for those who like a responsive kite, and can appreciate the importance of achieving full depower with minimal movement of the bar. It’s incredibly stable, and easy to relaunch in light winds. The 5th-line is also the most safe system out there, and additionally offers independence to those riders who need to self land and launch. Do all sizes have the same feeling at the bar? Sizes 10 m 2 to 14 m 2 have been fine tuned for a short bar stroke and a maximum crisp feel. For the 6 m 2 to 8 m 2 , which naturally tend to be a bit too responsive, we’ve tuned them for a balance that is perfect; not too soft and slow, nor uncomfortably harsh and fast. The 9 m 2 kites can go either way. We spent some time refining this one to what we thought was a spot on all-round and wave kite with just the right feel. 4 0
K I T E S
“THE REB NO RIDER WHO THESE DAYS IS THE BEST IT
What about the diameter of the leading edge? We kept the overall LE diameters fairly large, right out to the tips. This to ensures rock-solid stability and tolerance of low inflation pressures. As the Rebel is an all-around and wave kite, there’s no need to try and minimise diameters at the expense of convenience, stability and easy relaunch. What about the multiple segments and rib configuration? Multiple segments through the centre of the canopy give good consistency within the profile, while one straight segment on each side gives a flat profile where it can be most efficient in resisting unwanted luffing and flutter. Five struts give the necessary structure while allowing for good performance at low inflation pressures. What happened to the canopy construction? Our wavy force spread canopy construction has been refined in order to use less cloth and weight than in past years, and has been extended to the tips. This gives good mitigation of flutter and flexing between the dissimilar materials - hence better durability - from tip to tip. How did you achieve the amazing trailing edge tension? The trailing edge tension of the Rebel has been updated to reduce the potential for wrinkles and flutter while keeping the correct cone and cupping. Summed up, a lot of changes but still the same legendary Rebel feel.

It has an outstanding low end range, with the 5 m 2 and 7 m 2 models working particularity well with surfboards and lighter breezes. Use the power of the kite to catch the wave, then crank the depower and shred the wave with zero pull. Its light weight allows the kite to drift and hang in the air as you ride down the line; it also makes it the perfect travel companion.
The Mono has a comfortable and forgiving feeling via the bar - softer than the Neo but still progressive. The turning speed is quick, and the kite is also great for Freeriding offering easy jumping and excellent hangtime. With relaunch abilities worthy of an applause, great power delivery and optimum sheet-and-go, you’re sure to fall in “love at first flight”. Safety is an essential topic in a sport where you are facing the power of the elements and in some situations are totally on your own. The North patented 5th line system has provided the greatest combination of safety and performance for many years now. Year after year, the 5th line concept proves its reliability and 100% instant depower after a safety release no matter what the conditions. The system still has a commanding lead compared to other safety systems available on the market. This is why we at North Kiteboarding believe in the 5th line concept. What’s more, the 5th line makes water relaunch effortless and the loaded 5th line kite designs (Vegas and Rebel) offer a very short depower stroke, giving the rider ultimate control in gusty conditions. The benefits of this set-up are obvious and appreciated by riders all over the world. 5 8
The established 4-line system offers a single fronline safety system. When releasing the single frontline system all the power is redirected to one single frontline, whereby the kite will flag out easily and rest powerless on the water. Moreover, the kite will remain in a position that is ideal to relaunch the kite from the water. The safety pulley is specially designed for the single frontline safety system. The Quad Control bar is the safest 4-line bar on the market, offering unrivalled control and safety release options. The Iron Heart release is unparalleled in its efficiency and ease of use and forms the core of the bar through which the other safety systems flow. This allows the rider to get things back under control quickly and easily. The Quad Control Bar is identical to the 5th Element Bar aside from the 4 lines and single front line safety setup, ensuring it is the best on the market. However, 4-line systems can only offer limited safety functions. For ultimate safety and 100% depower, riders should choose the 5-line system. 5 9

The Wakestyle Bar is based on the Trust Bar but has been fully influenced by the North Kiteboarding Wakestyle / Freestyle Team. They wanted a shorter bar (42 cm), a bigger chicken loop, 22 m lines, single line depower with a rubber coating and the 5-line ”V” split very low at two meters away from the bar. The delay in steering and heavier pressure on the Wakestyle Bar with the recommended medium depower setting allows you to concentrate more on doing your trick and less about what’s happening with the kite or your input on the bar. The lower split on the 5-line ”V” noticeably changes the overall performance of the kite generating more power release delay, more slack, more pop and a delay in steering that makes doing doubles or holding grabs much easier and un-matched by the stock Trust Bar. Definitely a true wakestyle machine! Also included with the Team Bar is a conversion kit with instructions to switch the bar to the Hadlow Setup. Aaron Hadlow extensively tested with the North R&D team to make his signature line setup work better than ever before with the 2016 Vegas. This Hadlow setup combined with the low depower setting is the preferred way for 5x PKRA World Champion & 2015 King of the Air Champion Aaron Hadlow to ride. In this setup, the kite offers an even more explosive pop, more power release and steering delay while giving up most of the depower compared to the 5 line Team Bar setup. Truly the most hard core feeling in the North Kiteboarding kite line up. 6 2

to abrasion, and will cause much less damage, if sand is present, to the line itself.
INTEGR ATED E VA FLOATER FLIP-FLOP FUNC TION The moulded EVA floater is fully integrated into the winding posts to offer a seamless connection, which gives better protection to the lines and the rider. The integration of the EVA floater also avoids line tangling and gives better overall stiffness between the bar and lines. To achieve better and more direct feedback on the thumb, we added a push pin on the outside of the winding post for easy operation. The Flip-Flop function allows you to switch between a 53 cm and 46 cm bar width (M / L bar) and 49 cm and 42 cm bar width (S / M bar) with just one click. This makes the procedure of changing the bar set up far simpler.

IRON HE AR T STANDARD MODE With every North Kiteboarding Bar, there is a choice between the standard safety mode and an easy to fix suicide mode. Only very experienced riders with special requirements should use the suicide mode.
B A R S
The North Kiteboarding Iron Heart is the benchmark for all safety systems and we are continuously aiming to further improve this essential piece of safety equipment. It is renowned for a fast, safe and easy release, coupled with the ability to quickly reassemble the unit and continue flying.
MOULDED CHICKEN LOOP & CHICKEN DIG Exchanging the Chicken Loop or removing the Chicken Dig is easy due to the grub screw. Simply use an FCS fin key to remove the screws. The flexible moulded construction offers comfort and allows for easy reassembling. It is warp resistant and dimensionally stable which makes it very easy to hook back in after unhooked tricks, as the loop stays in shape.
SUICIDE MODE AT TENTION Only the standard safety mode offers 100% safety. We recommend to always using the standard safety mode. Riders who use the suicide mode should be aware and responsible for the possible consequences!

SAFETY LEASH The Safety Leash offers excellent floatation, guaranteed protection and ease of handling. The moulded EVA construction covering the hook is softer and prevents lines from tangling. The EVA cover can be pulled back for easy hooking in and out to the suicide ring at the chicken loop. The safety release function is positioned at the end of the leash where it is attached to the harness; giving you the possibility to release the kite completely at any time.
B A R S
THE REVERSE RELEASE PIN The heart of the Iron Heart IV is the reverse release pin and one of the keys of the intelligent release mechanism. Unlike other safety systems, it hinges to the inside to protect your hands. The reverse release pin is the reason for the incredibly low release forces enabling you to release with little exertion.
F E A T U R E S
ROTO HEAD The Roto Head permits you to untangle the lines after a rotational jump or a kiteloop while you are riding. It is made from an extremely durable plastic construction where no corrosion is possible. The Roto Head comes with two grub screws making it easy and fast to change the depower line. Simply use an FCS fin key to remove the screws and change the depower line.
VARIO CL E AT AND SLIDING S TOPPER The Vario Cleat and Sliding Stopper enable a quick and easy adjustment of the depower stroke. Especially interesting for smaller riders who have problems reaching the bar in the regular setting. The height of the Vario Cleat and Sliding Stopper can be easily adjusted to suit personal preferences. The reduced size combined with the smaller Vario Cleat accounts for 12% more depower area. The 5th line channel reduces the risk of the 5th line getting tangled considerably.
FRENCH NORM The following release systems integrated in the North Trust bar continue to fulfill all requirements of the French Norm: > The quick release system of the bar (Iron Heart IV) > The quick release that separates the rider completely from the kite (safety leash) Both safety systems are tested in various media and the release force must not exceed 100 N (9.8 kg). The actual release process of both systems must not exceed 0.5 sec. The transition from riding position to release (reaching for the Iron Heart or safety leash from riding position with both hands on the bar) must not exceed 2 sec.
6 8
OTHER REQUIREMENTS The grips of the release system must be red and the direction of release must be indicated. The release grips must be easy to reach. Furthermore, the Iron Heart must resist a load of 360 kg without deformation and without losing functionality. The same applies to the safety leash with a load of 180 kg. The system is tested in the toughest, sandiest and salty conditions that we can find. Sadly, many other available systems on the market are still unable to fulfill the requirements of this norm!

LINE LENG TH ADVISOR › Choose exactly the right bar for your needs › Different bars with the perfect line length to suit your style › Get a different feeling and more range from your kite › Highest quality lines with the best performance › Exceptional durability Three years ago we introduced different line length ranging from 19 to 27 metres as the length of the flying lines can make a huge difference to the way the kite flies. Different styles of riding, different kite models or the kite size can be influencing factors that require different line length. In order to further increase this synergy effect the
19 and 22 m lines come on a medium bar (49/42 cm) and the 24 and 27 m lines on a large bar (53/46 cm). The bar is the rider’s first point of contact with the kite. In order to achieve a maximum comfort when riding it is essential to match the kite and the rider’s style of riding to the correct line length.
2 7m (4 0 % H A N D L I N G / 6 0 % P OW E R)
One bar fits all. The 24 m lines are the best choice for an all round length, good turning speed combined with good power make 24 m the perfect choice for a lot of riders. Great for Freeride, waves and Freestyle.
The extra length means extra power, you get a little more range out of your quiver by adding this bar with the longer lines. They are also great for jumping as you can really “load” the lines when you edge and send the kite back through the window.
> The most versatile length > Great for all round freeriding > Good lowend and a good turning speed > High jumps as you can “load” the lines > The recommended size for a one bar quiver!
> Enormous lowend > Huge jumps > Lots of lift
IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER › THE SHORTER THE LINES, THE MORE DIRECT AND FASTER THE KITE TURNS. › THE LONGER THE LINES, THE MORE P OWER C AN BE GENER ATED OUT OF THE KITE.

22m (60% HANDLING / 40% POWER)
Super fast and reactive turning speeds, shorter lines are best for extreme freestyle and crazy kite loops. They are also excellent for wave riding, where the kites turning speed is important. Wakestyle riders enjoy the close connection to the kite too. The disadvantage is you lose some of the lowend power.
The favourite length of our freestyle and wave team riders. The 22 m lines are still great for getting lots of speed from the kite, perfect for wave riding and freestyle. Not as extreme as the 19m lines, they still lose a bit of lowend power.

The choice of our freestyle pro riders, the Team Series is the ultimate board for the competitive rider looking for the ultimate in pop! Used by riders like Reno Romeu and Stefan Spiessberger on the world tour the Team Series wears the badge of excellence like no other. The board is exceedingly stiff to offer amazing pop; there is also a strong torsional stiffness to ensure precision riding no matter what the water surface is doing. For 2016 we have added a new wakestyle base, which offers improved grip so you can ride without fins.

In addition this base shape helps to break the surface tension making landings smooth and easy even when you are coming in hot from a super powered trick. The Team Series also features our Step Double Concave with Trailerfin construction to provide massive grip and pop. If you want to beat the competition, you need the competitive advantage; the Team Series is it!
The new TS Hadlow has had a radical redesign. It aims to bridge the gap between Team Series and Gambler giving you the best of both worlds. Aaron concentrates on competition wakestyle, but also spends a lot of time hitting rails and kickers. The new design features a grind base with a new channel system, but combines a reactive carbon flex pattern for a snappy, responsive pop. The board keeps some of its roots from the previous year but we looked to improved the flex pattern by adding slightly stiffer tip for a more explosive pop. We
have kept the same rounded outline thought the rails and also kept a strong rocker line, but combined with a new deep double concave. It’s fast but softens even the hardest of landings. Adding channels along the heel and toe edge has produced more grip through the center of the board and also gives you a more centered carve and pop. TheTrack system is positioned in one line, so boots can be ridden on both edges to increase the lifecycle of the board. This board really has everything a modern wakestyler can want!

N O R T H K I T E B O A R D I N G O F F E R S T H R E E D I F F E R E N T F L E X PA T T E R N S T O P E R F E C T L Y F U L F I L L T H E N E E D S O F E A C H R I D E R : The patented TeXtreme® spread tow structure makes the composite 20 % lighter, with an unprecedented increase in overall performance. This is based on the fact that the fibres are straighter in TeXtreme® than in any standard conventional carbon reinforcements. As a result of the optimized fibre structure, the end product will hold a larger amount of carbon fibres, while keeping size and weight to a minimum.
HOW DOES IT AFFECT YOUR RIDING EXPERIENCE? › The upwind ability is recognizably improved. › The handling and feel of the board is undeniably unique! TeXtreme® boards feel much smoother than traditional boards. › The pop is also improved and it is easier to release the board for loaded jumps. Getting the timing right for jumping will feel intuitive. › TeXtreme® boards are just like your own magic carpet; the board does all the work for you!

A system that allows a wide range of adjustments as well as quick and easy mounting of the footpads without having a negative influence on the boards flex and weight. This is ”The Track”. The Track system features two ultrasonic welded tracks made of fibreglass reinforced plastic that are laminated into our boards in the production process. The Tracks are then CNC milled out of the finished board.
T E C H N O L O G Y
The Track Nuts provide the connection to the Footpad. The Track Nuts are made of non-corrosive brass and can be freely moved along the track to both sides. This system offers a whole range of possibilities to mount our footpads. One particular advantage is that the flexible tracks do not interfere with the fine-tuned flex of our boards.

Every foot is different. Taking this into consideration, the Entity, an ergonomically shaped footpad sets the standards in the evolution of kite sports. The Entity offers a variety of settings to perfectly fit on
each foot. In addition it is quick and easy to mount and even looks great on your feet!
NTT + THE TRACK The NTT has been designed and tested for use with the North Kiteboarding “The Track” system. The Track is an innovative mounting system on North Kiteboarding Twintips in its fifth generation. Together with The Track, the NTT unfolds its full potential of individual settings. The NTT can also be mounted on any board with standard inserts from the product generation 2011 onwards, however, the range of individual settings is then limited.
N T T CO N TAC T F RA M E The Contact Frame is the intelligent basis of the entire footpad. It is available in two sizes for best comfort likewise for larger or smaller feet. The construction perfectly adapts to the shape of our boards and does not interfere with the flex characteristics.
N T T CO N TAC T PA D The NTT Contact Pad consists of the time-tested EVA footpad and the NTT Contact Frame. The foot bed is ergonomically shaped and perfectly combines fit, control and comfort. The footpad is enveloped by the Contact Frame, which reliably transfers the forces directly to the board. The direct contact between Contact Pad and board enhances the board feeling. > The enhanced heel of the Contact Pad reduces pressure in sensitive areas of the foot by increasing the cushioning effect. Also it changes the angle of the foot in the binding, which improves the foothold. > The anti-slip surface first employed in 2014, considerably increases the grip, keeping the foot in firm contact with the NTT. However, the surface of the inlays permits easy entry, yet prevents the foot slipping out. Maximum comfort & bombproof grip!
1 0 2
NTT SPLIT STRAPS Together with the NTT Contact Pad, the NTT Split Strap forms probably the most functional footpad system on the market. The strap is covered with a fluffy velcro neoprene on the inside and outside. It offers great comfort and grip on the inside and due to the fact that the velcro sticks on anywhere, you always have perfect overlap and hold of the strap. The revolutionary split function offers the choice between maximum grip and optimum mobility. BOMBPROOF GRIP & MORE CONTROL By moving the Strap Buckles backwards or forward, the split opens or closes. The further you open the split, the greater the contact surface that wraps around your foot. This offers bombproof grip and more control over your board as the direct result. OPTIMUM MOBILITY The more you close the split, the more range of motion you get. The Split Strap comes with all-over padding and the width adjustment makes sure that the NTT Split Strap wraps tightly around any shape of foot. Achieving a great fit with neoprene booties is no longer a problem. The procedure is really simple and only takes a few seconds.
HOW TO MOUNT THE NTT
R ECO M M E N D E D STA N C E
The Track Nuts secure the Pad / Strap combination and mount to the NTT Combo within seconds. The Nuts can be moved laterally in The Tracks to adjust the distance between the pads. The Nuts are supplied with all series boards with The Track system.
The central triangles on the NTT Contact Pad and inside The Track system indicate the Entity Combo’s basic setting, also known as the recommended stance. The recommended stance has been individually determined for each North Kiteboarding board. Some riders may prefer a different position. The section Customize X6 explains the various possibilities for individual tuning (see next page).
NTT HEEL CUSHIONS The pad is supplied with three NTT heel cushions of varying hardness. The cushions permit adjusting the NTT Contact Pads to your personal preferences. > soft (yellow) for more comfort > medium (red) for the golden mean > hard (blue) for better control

X5 - FOOT LENGTH ADJUSTMENT
The position of the pad on the board in relation to the heel and toe edge greatly influences the board’s riding characteristics. With very wide boards or very small feet it is recommended to move the binding towards the heel edge. This increases pressure on the heel edge and facilitates upwind riding. A central position of the foot between the two edges provides better stability in landings. Narrow
The entire NTT Split Strap can be moved back and forth on the NTT Contact Pad. The right position depends on your foot length. We recommend adjusting the NTT Split Strap so that your toes reach over the toe cushion.

boards and large feet also benefit from a central position.
X 3 - PA D A N G L E
X6 - FOOT WIDTH ADJUSTMENT
In the basic setting the angle is 10°. The pad angle depends strongly on the rider’s personal preferences. Some riders prefer a position with the front foot rotated far to the outside. We recommend a greater angle for these riders.
You can vary the NTT Split Strap’s width independently of the Velcro adjustment on the NTT Contact Pad. This helps optimize the NTT’s fit according to your foot width. In addition you can change the width to still get the perfect fit when wearing neoprene booties.

The Pro CSC was a radical change of direction for our famous Pro Series board last year. The 2016 design has been refined even further to keep the board at the very cutting edge of the sport. It excels in small to medium sized waves, offering predictable grip and stability while still enabling you to explode off the lip and link fast snappy turns on the wave. Although the Pro CSC is at the very top of our range it is still very easy to ride whilst also being forgiving, making it suitable for a wide range of riders. from burying on big steep waves. The top deck features a scooped double concave area under foot. This lowers the centre of gravity on the board as well as increasing the contact area of the foot, both of these attributes hugely increase grip and control. The Pro Kontact has been in our line up for a long time now, and it has one purpose; to be the ultimate board when the waves get big, really big. its handling on big waves also makes it an insane chop killer. However, the real secret to this boards success are the rails. When a huge wall of water is towering above you and a wave of consequence is looking to send you all the way back to the beach in a body bag you need to know that when you stick your bottom turn you’ll have more bite than a hungry vampire on a full moon. The Pro Kontact is the board that you’ll take to the beach on those days when you can hear the roar of the ocean long before you can see it…
The Whip CSC is the perfect all round surfboard in the Compact Surf Concept range. It is really easy to ride and very forgiving and the rail design combines with the modern outline to cut through chop effortlessly. On the wave it is great for carving smooth arching turns but it will also allow you to ride it aggressively with a more top to bottom style. The compact shape allows you to really throw the board around on the wave while maintaining total control. For 2016 the Whip CSC features a new double concave bottom profile in the nose area, this helps to stop the board from digging in when

dropping down steep wave faces. The double concave deck shape gives a perfect connection from the rider to the board and also adds even more control over the board. Sky Solbach has also refined the way the boards are scaled in size, so the smaller boards are now even better suited to smaller riders. If you want a surfboard that can handle it all, from small euro chop to overhead barrels the Whip CSC is the obvious choice.

The Nugget has been a favourite among many riders around the world for a few years now. It excels when the conditions are sub par and makes those not so great days on the water infinitely more fun! For 2016 the board benefits from our Compact Surf Concept, Sky has been working tirelessly on this new board for over two years and now it is finally here. The CSC inspired design has improved every aspect of the Nuggets performance and given the board a whole new lease of life! Volume has always played a major role in the Nugget’s light wind performance, but low-end ability and glide is now significantly increased through a straighter rail line. This increases the planing surface but with even less volume and length than 1 2 0

before. The new outline template allows for a radically efficient use of rail line, rocker and volume, resulting in a board that is ridden 2 ’’ shorter than before and offers noticeably better lowend planing, glide, stability and manoeuvrability. The Nugget is now faster because it’s straighter, which also increases the stability, balance and helps upwind performance. The wider nose has more surface area for planing and incorporates more overall nose rocker and forward V, which in turn increases manoeuvrability without sacrificing any of the light wind benefits attained through the wider nose. If you liked the old Nugget, you’ll love the new one, it’s a huge leap forwards in performance!
Already the third season the Nugget is also offered in the North Kiteboarding Tough Technology construction. Tough Technology is a moulded technology that utilizes a super tough top sheet similar to that used in North Kiteboarding Twin Tip to create an incredibly durable skin that is remarkably resistant to dings and scratches. In short, the Tough Technology Nugget offers the same great Nugget

The Quest in its third generation is taking its DNA from the Wam. There are plenty of riders out there looking to get their first surfboard for kiting, or just looking to improve their skills with a fast learning curve. The Quest gives them that opportunity. The wide point is pushed further forward, the width increased and the outline is straightened up a little to make the board exceedingly stable on the water.

This helps it give the rider plenty of confidence when learning jibes and switching feet. You won’t grow out of the Quest quickly though, it can handle waves of all sizes and delivers lots of drive when you need it. If you’ve been looking for the perfect board to learn surf style on, your Quest is over.

When you are racing at the front of the fleet you need a board that offers the ultimate in control. That is the focus of the design process; control at high speeds, control when jibing and control on all points of sail. By adding a convex shape to the front section of the nose, harsh blows from chop are now softened and stability at high speed has been improved. In addition the centre rocker line remains the same while the rail rocker has been increased, this again improves stability and enhances the performance when jibing. The wide point
90 l 190 x 69.5 cm
has been moved a little further forward to increase control and early planing. The cut outs at the back relieve pressure from the riders legs and free up the board, with less stiction to the water giving it unrivalled top end speed. All of this adds up to a board that is easier to ride and leaves the rider less fatigued. The North Kiteboarding Raceboard will be at the front of the fleet; will you be there with it?

The advantages of a foil are obvious, extreme upwind ability and amazing light wind performance. However finding a foil that is easy to use and stable has been a lot harder, until now! North Kiteboarding created a set up that works in harmony with the rider. The wide stable surface area of the front foil itself also helps to keep the board under control. Both of these attributes combine to provide low take off speeds. Another key feature are the safety rails that connect the

With the perfect amount of volume and width, the board is extremely easy to ride in those moments before you get airborne. Foil boarding is just about to take off, and with the North Kiteboarding Hydrofoil you can jump aboard for the flight of a lifetime. It will be easier than you think.

Most of the modern kitesurfing waveboards need inserts, are used for jumping and in general have to be very durable and robust. Therefore North Kiteboarding has developed three different kinds of constructions all offering highly technical and modern features.
BAMBOO TECH Bamboo is a sustainable material and comes with amazing technical characteristics. our bamboo tech waveboards feature a high strength to weight ratio with great resistance to dents and perforations. The resulting boards are very durable and provide high performance riding characteristics.
CORK SHOCK ABSORBER
D I R E C T I O N A L S
Cork offers excellent absorption characteristics and reforms entirely without leaving any visible dents in contrast to PVC. Therefore it is applied as a damper in the heel area of the surfboards.
RESPONSIVE FLEX Using our bamboo tech construction, we take full advantage of the dynamic qualities of natural bamboo. Optimized layers and the mix with composite materials help us to construct powerful, agile and versatile directionals that come with a unique flex – responsive flex!
X- S U R F All Pro-Boards fulfill the needs of the X-Surf concept and are ideal shapes for both kitesurfing and surfing. We originally introduced the X-surf concept with the Whip and received great feedback from riders who loved being able to travel with a single board to cover their kiting and surfing needs. All Pro-Boards have enough volume for a good paddling ability and also operate well when relying purely on wave energy to generate speed. The Pro CSC and the Pro-Surf don’t even have inserts and are the perfect performance hybrids perfectly suited to bridging the gap between kiting and paddling in small to medium surf. The Pro-Surf and the Pro CSC are the go-to board for team riders and advanced surfers in nearly all conditions.
M U LT I B OX All boards now come with our own Futures Fins compatible fin boxes. Two side set screws and no rear tab allow for a wider tolerance of fin fitting and ensure a perfect and tight fit every time whether you’re using our high quality composite fins or any stock after market Futures brand fin. Easy to install and uninstall even with Sand and Salt.

This is a brand new construction mainly developed for strapless riding. The amount of cork shock absorber in the deck has been reduced by around 30%. Instead of a large single piece of cork there are now long
as well as a heavy glass reinforcement under the heel area of the front foot that takes repeated and direct abuse when riding strapped. A large glass fibre patch on the bottom of the board has also been replaced
strips where riders are likely to land hard with their heels. Removing the footstrap inserts eliminates the need for extra reinforcements and patches that are normally there to prevent cracking around the inserts
with two smaller and lighter weight bamboo strips and an unidirectional carbon strip outside the lamination to prevent buckling. All boards are reinforced at necessary critical spots.
This classic layup is the result of all our years of development to create a durable, all-round strapped / strapless construction that combines the best elements of flex and feel with a durable construction that is

STRAIGHTER RAILS
Allows you to dominate the entire board for explosive and controlled snaps. Fits the pocket perfectly. Better rotation for strapless freestyle. Compact size fits in a smaller board bag.
Less swing weight, more compact shape, better for rotations and more balanced proportions.
Straighter effective rail line offers superior grip, hold and stability in choppy conditions. Straighter low-drag outline planes quicker and carries more speed while surfing down the line.
“Last season we introduced the Compact Surf Concept (CSC) and over the past year, with the help and feedback of our team, I’ve continued to refine these designs and even implement some of the fundamental principles of straighter outlines and compact shapes into traditional go-to boards like the WAM and our best-selling light wind board the Nugget. The basic principles of the original CSC remain the same: Shorter and more compact with straighter outlines and rockers, all of which
balance. Less nose means less swing-weight and windage when doing aerial rotations, while standing more centered over the board not only gives you better balance but also a more efficient use of the board’s surface area allowing you to ride a much shorter board with less volume than a traditional pointed-nose shape. The goal with the CSC is not to try and reinvent the wheel, but rather to refine the high performance wave riding machine down to its simplest, most functional form.”

CUSTOMER PROFILE
Best wave freestyle board Early planing Very forgiving Fast bottom turns

“I spend a lot of time adjusting the volume of our boards in order to accurately pinpoint how I am scaling the different sizes to suit different riders’ weights. Over the past few years, dialing in the volume for any given board has become an integral part of the design process that I now always take into account. More recently however, and especially through the development of the CSC boards, I’ve started paying closer attention to the crucial role of surface area and its effects on performance. In theory, a board with more surface area should plane quicker and carry speed better regardless of volume, while a board with less surface area only starts planing at higher speeds and requires more kite or wave power to maintain that speed. But it’s not quite that simple either because it must also be effective volume that you can actually utilize. This is where our CSC boards start to differ from conventional
designs. Because our CSC boards are so compact, most of the board’s surface area is directly underneath you where it can really be utilized to the max. ( Think of a longboard (surfboard) where you have most of the surface area uselessly sticking up out of the water in front of you after you catch the wave. You get the point ). In order to reflect the gains in surface area and efficiency, the 2016 CSC boards have all been scaled down in size and volume. A prime example of this theory at work came to me while testing the 2015 Nugget 5’5”, which has 31.6 l of volume, against the new 5’3” 2016 Nugget CSC (30.4 l). The light wind ability and glide of the 2016 Nugget is clearly far superior even though it has less volume and this is due solely to the added surface area. This is not rocket science by any means, but something interesting to keep in mind moving forward.” 1 3 3
