K2 Continues to Revolutionize Ski Shapes with

In 2005, K2 pioneered rocker technology in the ski industry with the Shane McConkey inspired K2 Pontoon ski. Now, six years later, every 2011/12 K2 Ski features one of five variations of Baseline® Technology- a blend of traditional camber with rocker- to create skis optimized for varying snow conditions and all skier abilities. The rocker variation that is incorporated into the ski’s profile is based on the performance goals of the target customer. Between Speed Rocker™, Catch-Free Rocker™, Jib Rocker™, All-Terrain Rocker™ and Powder Rocker™, there is a K2 Baseline® profile for every skier to make skiing easier, less fatiguing and more fun. All-Terrain Rocker™, featured on the brand new AMP Rictor and women’s specific SuperFree, offers in-bounds skiers the option of skiing on or off-piste depending on the day’s conditions. The versatility of this Baseline® profile will have skiers comfortably exploring the glades, trees, and backbowls that they have been eying with growing curiosity over past seasons. Speed Rocker™, found on the AMP Velocity and women’s specific SuperBurnin, caters to the traditionalist skiers who love to redline on the corduroy with perfectly etched arcing turns, no matter how firm the snow. Catch-Free Rocker™, will introduce new skiers to the feel of controlled turns and smooth, trouble-free progression. Learning how to ski has never been so pleasantly painless. Powder Rocker™, found on models such as the DarkSide, Pon2oon and HellBent, has the most tip and tail elevation and longest measurement of Rocker and offers skiers a “surfy” feel with enhanced soft-snow performance. The camber region still exists to ensure edge-hold on firmer conditions. For unmatched flotation in deep snow, choose a ski with Powder Rocker™. Jib Rocker™ is designed for ollies, butters, and predictable performance. Featuring an elevated tip and tail with zero camber underfoot, Jib Rocker™ offers the best blend of playfulness for butters and surface tricks combined with enhanced pop for unmatched ollie power. Jib Rocker™ is found on the Domain and Press.

K2 Revs Up A.M.P. Series with the Impact All-Mountain Ski K2 Skis this season revs up its line of resort-focused high performance skis, called the All Mountain Performance (A.M.P.) Series, with the introduction of the Impact, a versatile yet forgiving tool, that owns every run on the mountain. Each model in the A.M.P. line, including the Impact, is based on a new design philosophy that not only focuses on the ski’s tip and tail dimensions to determine whom it’s for and where it’s designed to go, but also on the base profile of the ski to improve the performance of the entire line.

The A.M.P. Series is the industry’s first resort-focused line that integrates Baseline® Technology, a blending of camber (spring underfoot) and rocker (early rise in the tip and sometimes the tail), into 100% of the line. Baseline® makes skis turn easier, float and perform better for specific skier types of all abilities.

CHARGER Made for expert-level skiers who charge the steepest and firmest terrain, the Charger is the most ideal carving tool on the market. Its Speed Rocker™ gives you an added level of precision and accuracy as you transition from turn to turn, and the Hybritech Metal Laminate construction creates an unshakable ski when you start to redline. Catwalks to Cat Tracks: K2 Refashions Women’s Skis with All-New SuperModel Series

K2 forever changed the way women ski when it introduced the world’s first women’ designs with gender-specific technologies that have driven the market for more than a decade. The collection gets a deep tissue makeover for winter 2011-12, emerging as the stronger, lighter and sexier SuperModel series. The all-new SuperModels weigh less without sacrificing performance thanks to lighter materials used to minimize fatigue, stronger bioflex cores for power, and innovative women’s binding systems. Each of the skis gets a little shapelier with finely tuned allmountain-focused Baseline® profiles with rocker (where the tip rises out of the snow) and camber (spring underfoot) combinations for all levels of skiers.

SuperStitious The K2 SuperStitious is the Next Top Super Ski for expert-level women who charge the entire mountain and aren’t spooked by a blessing of new snow from Mother Nature. Sporting All-Terrain Rocker™, the ski’s tip rises out of the snow a little early for improved float and turn-ability while the tail is flat to help maintain control while powering down steeps in soft snow. Camber underfoot delivers extra energy turn to turn on the widest ski (84mm midfoot) in the SuperModel series. BASELINE®-PROFIL: All-Terrain Rocker™ for float, easy turn initiation and control

K2 Hands Skiers the Reins with Factory Team Skis for Big Lines, Big Air and Big Style K2’s Factory Team athletes are known for continuously pushing the limits - whether by tricking off the gnarliest cliff on the face, or by dreaming up inventive ways to float through the air. What this amounts to is unparalleled style found throughout the team, a style that carries over to the skis that they use and help design. The Factory Team Series skis are developed closely with our athletes so that they meet the expectations of the hardest charging shredders on the planet yet are still versatile enough for weekend warriors. This year’s brand new Recoil joins the K2 ranks by taking over the all-mountain twin tip position once held by legendary models like the Enemy, Public Enemy and Extreme. The Recoil is built on the same basic principles of standing up to all the abuse of rails and harsh landings in the park, while at the same time providing the confidence to destroy the whole mountain thanks to its versatile All-Terrain Rocker™.

On the women’s side, the all-new MissDirected is the fattest women’s ski K2 has ever made. Featuring Powder Rocker™ for extra float and a prodigious 117mm-width underfoot, the MissDirected will change the way women ski powder. Seamless straight lines and flawless switch landings in deep snow will become the norm. Finally, don’t forget to check out the new Squire SchizoFrantic binding system from Marker/K2. The SchizoFrantic bindings integrate seamlessly with the K2 Factory Team skis’ built-in inserts. This allows the bindings to be mounted without drilling, and the increased surface area of the insert rings provides greater resistance to pullout than standard bindings screws. This binding’s DIN maxes out at 11 and comes in at a much lighter weight than it’s brother binding- the 12 DIN Griffon- with a lighter price tag.

Recoil Following in the footsteps of legends like the Public Enemy and Extreme, the all-new Recoil is built as a high performance allmountain tool, solid enough to take on the harshest landings in the park yet powerful enough to charge the steepest lines. The addition of All-Terrain Rocker™ increases the versatility of the ski making it even more predictable in any condition, in or out of the park. Fattened up to 90mm underfoot, the Recoil is comfortable on all terrain types. BASELINE®-PROFIL: All-Terrain Rocker™ for float, easy turn

The Powder Rocker™ with extra rise in the tip will keep you afloat no matter how deep the stash, and an All-Terrain Rocker™ tail provides a large landing platform. As a result, the ski’s “surfy” feel will have you hooting and hollering until the lifts stop running. The MissDirected has enough girth and stability to shred technical big mountain lines, while retaining the ability to hold an edge on resort trails. With a lightweight and bombproof construction, the MissDirected will take your powder skiing in a whole new direction. Indy

K2 Groms Skis Help Little Skiers Go Big K2’s Groms series skis are designed and developed specifically for young shredders who want to take their skiing to the next level. To help them get there sooner, K2 has developed exclusive kid-specific technologies like the Noodle Ski System that enables even the lightest skiers to flex proportionally to their weight. The design takes the “stiff plank” affect out of kids’ skis so growing boys and girls have more control and confidence on snow. K2 has included Baseline® technology – a mix of rocker (a slightly raised tip and tail) along with camber underfoot for liveliness – on all kids’ models, so now the little ones can turn their skis with more ease and explore more of the mountain with added control and enjoyment. Rocker is not just for powder… and it’s not just for adults either.

Luv Bug

The INDY and LUV BUG with Noodle technology are built for the junior skier that is just getting hooked on the sport. The skis’ Catch Free Rocker™ profile turns easy and holds on firm snow, and a 70mm waist keeps the skis light and nimble. Featuring Noodle technology, the Indy will flex appropriately for your young one, allowing them to flex the ski and turn just like their parents do. K2 has also announced the launch of its youth-oriented, destination website: www.K2Groms.com. This website will create a viable platform for the K2 Brand to communicate with the future of skiing, snowboarding and inline skating while creating a fun and educational experience. The goal of www.K2Groms.com is to create a content-rich, entertaining environment that will engage this youth (6-12) demographic and spur frequent return visits. The site features a gaming area with three different K2 specific games, a video portal that showcases video content from all K2 brands, an online store to purchase K2 Groms gear, and even a membership sign-up page where users can become official K2 Groms. Once registered, kids receive a free K2 Groms sticker pack, membership card, and can even customize their user profile with K2 Groms avatars, further personalizing their online experience. This youth demographic is the future of skiing, snowboarding, and inline skating. K2 is committed to creating a destination that is entirely theirs. While this website is geared towards the youth demographic, users of all ages (and even parents) will find the site’s content entertaining and suitable for their groms. Be sure to check out www.K2Groms.com and pass along the web address to the future of our sports.

K2 offers BackSide skis for every level of backcountry adventure. All skis feature technologies specific to function, from holes in the tip and tail for building mountaineering anchors or a rescue sled, to flat notched tails for safety and skin attachments. Simply put, the BackSide series is built to efficiently serve all your adventure needs.

K2 BackSide Series Skis Promise Predictability on Uncertain Terrain For those that crave more diversity and exploration in their skiing palate, K2’s BackSide series feeds the hunger. Whether seeking perimeter gates for a sidecountry splurge, or pursuing a full week of touring from yurt to yurt in backcountry powder, the BackSide series has something for everyone. The skis are designed to manage powder to crud for telemark, traditional alpine, or alpine touring skiing. The BackSide series is split into two factions – Back and Side. The Back series is optimal for backcountry skiing or for those who prefer a lightweight, agile setup. The skis are built with a lighter cap construction process and include SnoPhobic topsheets to keep snow from piling up and adding weight. The Back models find the perfect balance of weight savings for climbing and optimal performance levels for descents. The Side series, on the other hand, features more powerful sidewall skis ready to duck outside the ropeline and charge before returning to the lift or resort road. For 2011-12, the Side series includes a complete women’s offering that features the brand new, SideKick. On the men’s side of things, the new SideShow will make them happy and makes every run to an unforgettable experience.

Pon2oon

McConkey’s* vision continues with the all-new Pon2oon in 2011/12. Designed with the same philosophy of slaying powder easier, faster and with less effort, the all-new Pon2oon is fully rockered and redesigned with a straight/flat tail for increased precision and for braking. Additionally, the Pon2oon has increased surface area via its new powder tip shape and has waist widths that increase as the ski gets bigger in size, maxing out at a whopping 134mm underfoot in size 188cm. *A percentage of the Pon2oon ski sales will be given to Shane’s family.

The SideShow is for those who ski firmer snow but it’s still plenty wide for powder, too. Despite its waist width, the metal laminate sidewall construction is designed to carve laser sharp arcs on translucent hardpack that will leave the racers gawking. K2 Pilchuck Kit

Cut or Trim-to-Fit

Backpack, Shovel, Probe: The K2 Pilchuck Kit

Pre-Cut: These precision-cut skins are designed to work with all K2 BackSide models, as well as the following Factory Team models: HellBent, obSETHed, Kung Fujas, MissDirected and MissBehaved. Choose the skin for your ski model and length. Z-Clip: The innovative, minimalist design of the Z-Clip provides secure hold, reduced weight, and a quick transition on the ascent. The adjustable tail straps center the skin and sit on top of the ski, eliminating drag and friction for improved glide and efficiency.

Notably, the K2 Pilchuck Kit keeps it together with efficient and durable features, including the K2 Rescue Shovel and Avalanche Probe Alu 300. Equipped with all the essentials, yet thin enough to wear while riding lifts, this kit is perfect for short excursions beyond the ropes and leaves enough room to pack an extra layer and a tasty lunch for the journey. Features: Pilchuck pack volume: 11L Weight: 695g (Rescue Shovel), 350g (Avalanche Probe Alu 300)

Probes Avalanche Probe Carbon 300 and Avalanche Probe Alu 300 Shorter or flexible probes are adequate for collecting snow-pit data and identifying crevasses, and we hope that’s the only time you ever need your robe. But when it’s time to locate a buried avalanche victim, saving a few grams on a shorter, more flexible or fragile model could be a fatal mistake. So even though our probes are as light as anything you’ll find on the market, we’re most proud of the fact that they’re among the strongest and stiffest available.

SPECS:

BackSlide Auto Lock: Utilizes Trigger Pull Handle and non-slip textured shaft for ease of assembly with gloved hands. BackSlide Technology: Delivers 300cm probe with packed volume of a 260cm model. Ruler: 1cm markings for precise recording of snow pit data. Length: Extended 300cm / Packed size: 42cm Weight: Carbon 280g / Aluminum 350g

Rescue Shovels Rescue Shovel: Rescue Shovel and Rescue Shovel Plus You’ll probably use your shovel most for digging snow pits, building tent platforms or even digging out your car. And most shovels will do an adequate job for these tasks. Unfortunately, because avalanche debris sets up so hard, a frighteningly large number of shovels fail when called upon for their most critical function of excavating a buried friend. This is why our shovels are designed for durability and utility. The K2 Rescue Shovel can also construct an emergency sled, build a dead man anchor, or provide a flat platform for your stove. SPECS:

Rescue sled compatible: Quickly converts BackSide and many Factory Team skis into solid rescue sled. Hoe mode: Facilitates digging in tight locations. Weight: Rescue Shovel Plus: 800g, Rescue Shovel: 695g Handle Length: Extended 64cm, Collapsed: 28cm Blade dimensions: 25cm x 28cm

LockJaw Poles A lightweight multi-purpose backcountry tool. You expect Backcountry poles to adjust flawlessly and not slip, and our patentpending over-center LockJaw clamp won’t disappoint. But it’s the things you don’t expect from poles that make K2 LockJaw poles uniquely valuable. They provide important information about terrain and snowpack to help you assess avalanche hazard. The inclinometer provides insight about the most critical component of terrain: steepness. And by using the Snow Depth Ruler to measure ski or boot penetration, you can gain clues about the density of the surface snow and how much is available for wind transport. Probing with the handle can also reveal information about the depth, thickness and hardness of various layers. All this data helps you assess whether or not it is safe to ski a particular slope. sPECS: LockJaw2 Adjustment Mechanism Carbon Upper and Lower Bubble vial inclinometer Snow depth ruler BackSide Dual-Density Grip with utility hook NEW: Sewn Ergo Strap NEW: Powder Baskets Sizes: 100-130cm, 115-145cm (adjustable) Probe Length: 100-130cm: 166cm / 115-145cm: 196cm

K2 Gets Lightheaded with Five New Helmet Models Gone are the days of ugly, oversized, heavy helmets protecting the noggins of nerds on snow. K2 Reinvents Ski Poles from Grip to Tip

New collection features unparalleled technologies and over-the-top style Ski poles, one of the least appreciated accessories in snow sports, are about to have their day. K2’s engineers this season broke it down to the fundamentals and recreated one of the world’s best selling ski pole offerings with entirely new models for backcountry, resort and park skiers that reinvent the game. The new poles are technically superior with a style that adds an extra je-ne-sais-quoi to every skier’s arsenal.

Triax and HighStyle The all-new Triax and women’s HighStyle poles represent the evolution of K2’s top-of-the-line high-performance carbon fiber technology. Developed exclusively by K2, Triax Technology is the controlled process of winding carbon fibers at a 60 degree angle around the outside of the shaft. The external TRIAX fibers reinforce and control the uni-directional fibers of the pole, to create a more durable and stiff shaft that is thinner (14mm) and lighter than any poles K2 has ever produced. The new dual durometer grip provides a tacky surface contact point for additional control and the soft overmold top cap creates maximum comfort when palming through the lift line.

The Party Pole features a state of the art “upside down” LockJaw adjustment located directly under the grip. This creates one pole that you can ski short in the park and longer on the deeper days. This Party Pole would not be complete without the dual durometer, lowprofile grips, adjustable straps and a Cross Tip, designed to work with the K2/Marker Schizo binding system, for on-the-fly binding adjustments. The name says it all, as after skiing, partying is what we do best.
