Friday Fridge Notes March 4, 2011
Announcements Welcome home Gailer travelers! The International Trip to Spain was a true success. For a recap and some photos, please see the attachment from Lonny. The Gailer Viewbook can now be downloaded from the homepage of our website, www.gailer.org . Check it out, download and/or print it and send it on to your family and friends! Hard copies are available at the front desk. Bill Perta, a local chef, has offered to provide a lunch program to the Gailer School. For $6/day, four days a week (Monday-Thursday), he will provide a nutritious and delicious soup or stew and salad in the winter and a sandwich and salad in the spring. Ingredients will be locally grown and organic when possible. We need at least 12 students and faculty members to commit to purchasing the lunch on a monthly basis in order for this program to work. Please email Kitty at office@gailer.org if you are interested. Next Tuesday, March 8th, Nate and his Biology class will take to the woods up in Ripton for some wintertime exploration. Do you have a pair of snowshoes and/or binoculars that you’re willing to loan them for the day? Please bring them to Gailer on Monday or Tuesday morning. Many thanks! We are looking for parent volunteers to man the front desk and answer the school phone from 1-3:30PM Monday through Friday. Please contact Susan Bechhoefer if you can help. Thank you! The UVM Math Competition will take place at Gailer next Wednesday, March 9th, during the school day. All students are welcome to participate! A Chess Tournament, open to all 2nd – 12th graders in Addison County, will be held at the Gailer School on Saturday, March 19th. Any Gailer students who are interested in playing should contact Diane Guertin at dianeg@gailer.org !
The Gailer School’s Gala Auction Fundraiser is one month away! It will be held on Saturday, April 9th from 7-10 PM at Carol’s Hungry Mind Café. This is our big fundraising event of the year, which enables us to offer scholarships to students from our local community as well as the global one. We need 100% participation from Gailer families in order to make it a success, AND it’s a lot of fun to get to know each other better by working together. Please let Brie (briep@gailer.org) know what you are donating to the auction ASAP!
