St. Michael’s School Presents Footloose

New School Principals

St. Michael’s School students in kindergarten through eighth grade will be performing Getting to Know Footloose the Musical. The production tells the story of a teenage boy, Ren, moving from Chicago to a small farming town, where he runs into oppressive local edicts – including a ban on dancing. These strict rules are thanks to the same local preacher whose daughter Ren falls for. Ren convinces his friends to participate in a school dance competition in order to win her over and revolutionize the town. Performances will be held May 7 through 10, and tickets will be available beginning April 1 for $10 each. Find tickets at www.showtix4u.com, and learn more by contacting theater@smspoway.org.

Two schools in Scripps Ranch have recently appointed new principals: Dr. Joshua Way was named the principal at Marshall Middle School and Dusty Pedrotti was named principal at Dingeman Elementary School. Dr. Way has been an educator for 17 years. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from California State University, San Marcos and his doctoral degree in education from San Diego State University. He began his teaching career at Dr. Joshua Way Fallbrook High School, and later served as assistant principal at Mission Hills High School. For the last five years Dr. Way has served as principal at Woodland Park Middle School in San Marcos. Pedrotti has been an educator in the San Diego Unified School District for more than 10 years and earned both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education from San Diego State University. Pedrotti has had experience teaching in many elementary school grade levels and was elected by his staff at Field Elementary as Teacher of the Year in 2014 and 2017. Most recently, he served as vice principal at Dingeman, Ellen Browning Scripps, and Miramar Ranch Elementary Schools.
