CONCLUSION
01 AB OUT AIRDRIE •
As one of the fastest growing communities in Canada, with a population of 61,581 people living in an estimated 21,661 homes.
•
First established as a railway village in the 1880s during the construction of the Edmonton-Calgary rail, Airdrie is a bedroom community a mere 6 kilometers north of the city of Calgary accessible by Highway 2, and is only 20 minutes from the Calgary International Airport.
•
Known for combining big city amenities with a small town atmosphere, Airdrie is a safe and friendly city that predominantly attracts young, active families. Its proximity to the urban centre of Calgary makes it an ideal choice for north east commuters, and a number of shopping and leisure destinations are available right within Airdrie’s city limits.
•
The business community in Airdrie is centred around the construction, manufacturing, transportation and logistics industries, and the city also has a fast growing service economy. Airdrie provides a number of retail outlets and services to a trading area comprising over 60,000 people. The primary commercial area can be found along Main Street, and is anchored at each end with major shopping and commercial centres.
•
With over 570 acres of park land and 36 kilometers of paved multi-use pathways and trails, Airdrie residents have the opportunity to live in and enjoy the natural beauty of southern Alberta where the foothills meet the prairies. Popular recreational facilities include the Plainsmen and Twin Arenas; Genesis Place, which includes two field houses, a large gymnasium, a pool area, and an indoor running track; a large BMX track and club in Fletcher Park; and a wide range of outdoor athletic parks, sports fields, playgrounds and a splash park.
•
The city has an excellent education system serving over 3,500 students with public, private, Catholic and French Immersion schooling options.

07 NOISS EE NOI
The biggest sources of noise in the city of Airdrie are coming from the close bye airports and The Queen Elizabeth II Highway. On a positive note, the Calgary Airport Authority put in a noise monitoring terminal in the Coopers Crossing Area in 2018. The airport actively monitors flight operations as part of a community-focused Noise Monitoring Program. Currently, they are conducting a four-week long monitoring session with the addition of a mobile noise monitoring van in the King’s Heights area. It’s part of an effort with Airdrie City Hall to provide information to Airdrie residents about flights over the city. In a statement to AIR 106.1, the Calgary Airport says it works with partner organizations to balance the need for flights with the needs of communities.

13 CONCLUSIONS
•
The purpose for this site analysis is to assess the possibility for a new urban community in the city of Airdrie. Even though the citizens of Airdrie are above the low income cut-off, we should keep in mind young families and affordable living.
•
We should take advantage of the natural resources to be included as part of new parks and extending them to existing parks with continuous trails. These trails should be better connected to the neighboring communities.
•
We should activate a new neighborhood with a bubbly atmosphere which includes night life amenities, cinemas, shopping, better lighting and all seasons activities.
•
We can think about better connecting the infrastructure so that users can travel to their work place in Calgary by bus or train. This can contribute to minimize pollution from carbon monoxide.
•
We should create a space where people can gather and interact to each other. This is also proven to be one of the reason for life longevity. Peoples wellbeing should be key.
