ASICS SÃO PAULO CITY MARATHON: A BRAZILIAN RUNNING RACE WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARD
ROUTE Starting at Charles Miller Square, the course follows Pacaembu Avenue to Costa e Silva highline. Goes through São Paulo city center sightseeing, such as the Ipiranga and São João Avenues, the Municipal Theater, the Chá overpass, the Cathedral Square and the courtyard Pateo do Collegio. Then go up to Brigadeiro Luis Antonio Avenue, cross Paulista Avenue and circumvents the Ibirapuera Park. Continues along Juscelino Kubitschek Avenue and go through Jânio Quadros tunnel toward the Jockey Club of São Paulo. Here, the athletes who are running the half marathon finish the race. Yet, the athletes who are running the marathon must take the Lineu de Paula Machado Avenue, go to the Villa Lobos Park, pass through São Paulo University and return to cross the finish line at the Jockey Club.
Enjoy the experience of being part of a race built as the best events in the world The running has grown considerably in our country in recent decades. According to a survey conducted by Relevance, a Spanish consulting company, we have more than 6 million runners in Brazil nowadays. Nevertheless, we are still far from being a strong country in the marathon. Statistics reveal an increase at the number of participants at that distance. Still, according to São Paulo Association of Racing Trainers (ATC-SP) in 2015 only 15,000 athletes finish a marathon in Brazil. One of the factors about having a few marathoners is the lack of events with international standards, which encourage people to challenge themselves to conquer the most desirable distance in the athletics world. With this goal in mind, Iguana Sports has created the São Paulo City Marathon, sponsored by ASICS. Talking about structure, our race does not lose in nothing for the biggest races in the world. In addition, the route is an invitation to athletes from all over the country to discover, by running, important sightseeing of the main city in Latin America. It is a chance to observe, in a different point of view, buildings and historic streets, modern architectures, monuments and so many other things that often go unnoticed by the rush of the day by day. I hope you make the most of experiencing in a marathon with international standard and have a good race!
