01 Inspiring Freedom to Choose

OUR PROMISE Having received an American education from kindergarten to PhD, I am intimately acquainted with the US system at every level. Starting university with two years of ‘liberal arts’ studies before two years of majoring in professional studies means students get a more broadly based education. The approach is designed to produce well-rounded graduates who know how to think independently, reason critically, and communicate confidently. A year or two in KDU’s American Degree Transfer Program provides a good foundation for continuing studies in the States at a university of the student’s choice. Starting at KDU and transferring to the US, the options are wide, the education is excellent, and the costsavings are significant. Back in 1984, KDU pioneered the American Degree Transfer Program in Malaysia and has sent thousands of students to over 500 universities in North America. Many of the lecturers in our program did their studies in the US. And they love to teach the American way – engaging students in the learning process through group work, research projects, activities, presentations, and discussions, in addition to exams. Come and see. We promise good pastoral care of students and value for your money. I would be happy to meet you and answer any questions you might have, and so would our counselors and lecturers.

AMERICAN DEGREE TRANSFER PROGRAM

03 Inspiring Freedom to Choose

The American Degree Transfer Program is designed to prepare you with the skills and knowledge to continue your education in the USA. It allows you the flexibility to transfer to US universities of your choice and even to the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The program implements the American curriculum and teaching methods resulting in ADP graduates being well-prepared: personally, academically and socially, to adapt to university and life in the United States. This program has earned global recognition for its dedication to acculturate students with the spirit of inquiry and pursuit of knowledge through critical thinking, openness and exchange of ideas. The ADP subscribes to an important philosophy: "To prepare you for success, we must tap your full potential." It is dedicated to the ideal that each student should have the opportunity to achieve his/her fullest potential and commits himself/herself to sustaining a multi-cultural environment that celebrates diversity, affirms differences and provides links to the larger community and other countries.

// Simon Choy

Technical Services Engineer, Firefly Airlines

Graduate of 2007 National Bowler Currently reading Psychology at University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Graduate of 1986 Vice President, HR Asia Pacific & North American, Compensation & Benefits Worldwide, Tupperware Brands Corporation.

I started my journey at KDU and now a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, USA, with an honours degree in Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. Upon the completion of my studies in Embry-Riddle, I developed my career at Firefly Airlines. As a Technical Services Engineer, my main responsibility is to provide liaison engineering support for aircraft maintenance and minor aircraft modification.

“I loved the ADP in KDU; it gave me the flexibility to choose subjects and time of classes. The class was relatively small, enabling interaction with lecturers who were very approachable and caring.”

Knowledge, direction, assurance, confidence and comfort were the pillars that KDU provided in Simon’s life. “Coming to America was a dream come true for me; and KDU facilitated the way.”

Hope this fits, and you can add the study route.

“Independence was a core value that drove me to explore my potential and grow up with my peers, under the guidance of the faculty at the American Program at KDU.”

The American Degree Program gave the freedom to choose the subjects that I like and want to study. If I were to give reasons why should you study in KDU, it would be the meeting with students from different cultures and backgrounds and the never-ending host of events! It made my time there really memorable.
