The Head of Primary says...
2016 has been a year of change 2016 has been a year of change and one where we have all needed to reflect on the past, present and future – examining ourselves, our motives and the choices we make. We have an excellent school that can only be made stronger by support, communication and teamwork. Whilst our children are privileged to have excellent teaching and programmes, we need to teach them to appreciate what they have and to strive for excellence. Most importantly, as our future leaders, we need to have a vision for improving the educational landscape for the children of Namibia. 2016 was a challenging year for so many. During such times we realise the importance of relationships with God, family and friends.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 "But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.." Thank you to all our parents for the support you give your children, the staff and programmes at our school. 2017 will be a year of protection and positives for us all.

Interesting thoughts from Grade 3A How did this banana grow so huge?
One day a farmer was in his car driving to work. He saw a banana on the road. The farmer picked it up, and then gave it some magic water. It grew bigger and bigger, it even grew bigger than a house. The magic grew stronger. The farmer made poison arrows, some armor and gunpowder explosives. He climbed into the car and rode off. The banana had powers and then the farmer jumped on the great banana and stopped it before it will get out of control. Lorenzo Du Raan There was a boy who requested to make a huge banana. One day he went to the lab he shot the banana with a special potion. He did not know it worked. He went home with the banana. The next day, he woke up with a huge banana. He was happy because he was going to show the school the huge banana. He was so excited his face went pink, so pink it looked like he was going to explode. Off to school he went. At school he asked his teacher to show the school the huge banana then it was time to show the school the banana. When he started talking the banana developed one eye, then the other eye showed and suddenly the arms popped out. The next day he taught the banana how to swim. They swam every day. One day they dived into the sea and the banana disappeared. Connor McNamara
If I were a super hero, my name would be Multi-girl.
The reason they call me Multi-girl is that I can change into anything I want, like a tiger, horse, jaguar, hawk, zebra and even an elephant. I would trot like a horse, run like a tiger and glide like a hawk. Sanne Dewulf
If I could go anywhere in the world I would go the Victoria Falls with Ariana Grande. What I would do for fun is I will go on a cruise ship and look at lots of animals like crocodiles, parrots and different kinds of birds. Imani Chanduru If I would get to choose to take my favourite star anywhere in the world it would be the singer Harry Styles. We would travel to America and we would go to Disneyland. There we would take pictures and chat allot. Layla Fernandes
If St. Paul’s could teach me something, what would that be? I would like it if St. Paul’s would teach me how to understand animals. If I would understand animals I could help them or keep them away from danger. I would also like them to teach me to climb the tallest tree ever! Anna Verchusa
What would you do if your favourite toy came alive?
One night it was very dark and I was deeply asleep. I was dreaming that my favourite toy came alive. The next morning my action figure Iron man was missing. I looked everywhere, I was very sad and I went to school upset. The next morning it was lying under my bedcover. I thought I was going crazy and went to bed after dinner. When I woke up, I looked out of my window and guess what I saw? You will not believe it if I told you I saw my favourite toy moved without touching it. I was very scared; my parents were very scared too. We ran down stairs as fast as we could and hid. We saw it coming downstairs! That is what I would do if my favourite toy came to life. Ezekiel Hans There was a girl called Lara. Lara had a fluffy toy called Jessy, who was a cat. Lara wished and wished every time a shooting star came past her house, she wished that Jessy could come to life, but it did not work. One month later the mailman came to give them their mail. Dad had no mail; mom had no mail, Lara had mail! She raced up to her room; she opened the letter, it said: Lara was so happy, she said, YES!! The next day Lara went to the lab. When she had arrived at the lab, Dr Brown was at the lab. Dr Brown was at the door. Come in Lara, Dr Brown said. Lara entered the machine with Jessy. After a big BAM, Jessy was alive. Lara takes good care of her. Lara van Rensburg

Grade 3A - The person I look up to is ... The people I look up to are Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar da Silva Santos JĂşnior. I would like to play soccer with them and maybe a real match. When I grow up I want to be as good as them. It would be really awesome if I could play for Barcelona just like those soccer players. Maybe one day I will even beat them in soccer. Ruatandavara Kaumbi The person I look up to is Karen Zoid. If I could go with her, we would go to Johannesburg. It would be really fun if I could help her to write songs and make music videos. I would also like to take my mom and aunt in the warm sun and then we can go in a warm swimming pool. Karie Van Schalkwyk
The person that I look up to is my old teacher Ms Wessels. If I could go somewhere with her I would go to Bora Bora. What I would do there is we could swim in the beautiful see through water and go to this hotel, which is on the seawater. This hotel has glass floors in the rooms. On the plane we will fly first class. Jamie Oosterhuizen The person I look up to is Trevor Noah. I would travel with him to America, but it has to be winter. When there is winter we could make snow angels and throw snowballs. After that we would travel together to Walvis Bay and chill at the beach. Benjamin Hendrickse

ideal for: Team Building • parties • private groups What inventions would change the world? I want to change the world by inventing a machine that can remove litter. I really do not like litter; I build a machine with my dad. We were getting to travel to the Namibian sea. We climbed on a large boat where the machine was situated. After we climbed onto the boat with took out the large sucking pipe. It sucked all the litter that was in the sea. We traveled on the sea for ages to suck out all the litter. After a while we discovered that the litter got less. No more litter! We traveled back to the land and transported all the litter to be discarded. Tuvoye Vilho
I think an invention that would change the world is a water particle gun. Many people in the world lack clean safe water. In Namibia there is also a drought and water is less. We have to be careful not to waste water. In a lab, I will join up with other scientist and with them mix chemicals to make water particles. The water particles will be put into a special machine called a multiplier, which then converts one water particle into billion particles. The water particles will thereafter flow to a laser gun. I will check to see it makes beautiful, big, fluffy clouds by shooting a billion water particles at a time. I will go to different parts of the world with limited water resources. Then I will shoot the water particles into the sky to make clouds, which will later fall down as rain. Mathew Varghese
The invention that would change the world is a time machine. You can travel to past and future and see what will happen next. You can see what you do wrong in the future and then you can fix it. In the past if you do something wrong you can fix it. Time traveling can be dangerous and those are the things that can happen to you. You can get shocked and if you get home there will be two of you. Time traveling is fun or sometimes it is sad or you are mad or you are happy. If there is something wrong with the time machine, you press the self-destruct button. Chevonne Sheperd

What inventions would change the world? My invention is called the Otofly. It is a flying car, it is blue and orange. It has a slush and popcorn machine. It comes with five seats and five TVs. The Otofly is fully air conditioned and has print security and autopilot. My invention will help families to go on holiday faster and cheaper. It also lets families bond while watching movies for free. I hope you like my invention. Naomi Nadimi I would invent a clock that has a special button. When you press the button the time will go back. My invention will help the world by making good memories only come back. So you can enjoy them again, and everyone will buy it and be happy. Mark Saad
My invention is a robot that helps in the house. So when the house is really dirty it will clean very fast, and it will help with cooking and doing work so the children will not do so much work. Mom and dad do not need to work. My second invention is a party robot. Mom and dad don’t do all the work. The robot will do the work. It will lie on the floor and pop all balloons and sweets. Then your mom and dad can just relax. Jade Karume An invention that would change the world is an AMDN. It stands for Ant Man DNA. It’s a suit that you wear and it makes you tiny or it turns you into a giant. That’s why it’s called Ant Man. He can punch very hard and can smash people. It’s also very clever. He can be used for catching robbers, building sky scrapers, high buildings, airports and long roads. It can also teleport and make things invisible. Zeno Benolich

Saving Water
We have to save water because our country is very dry. We shouldn’t waste water while we are bathing. Do not let your tap run for long. When you are done bathing, put the water into the bucket and then water the plants. You should use a bucket to wash the car, do not waste water with the hosepipe. When there is a leaking tap you must put a bucket underneath the tap to collect the water. When we are swimming in the pool, we should also not splash water around. Alexandro Da Purificacau We must save water because Namibia has very little water. We can save water by using a cup when brushing our teeth instead of letting the tap run. When you wash your car you must use a bucket as a hosepipe wastes water. When you take a bath do not fill the bathtub up. When there is a tap leaking you must have it fixed as soon as you can. Susan Hawala When you are brushing your teeth you must use a cup. When your father is washing the car he must put the water in a bucket. He must not use a hosepipe because it wastes water. When you are taking a bath you must not fill up the tub, and when you are done bathing you must use the bath water to water the plants. Tendai Nyandoro
What if your favorite toy came alive? My favourite toy is a baby stuffed tiger. The baby tiger’s name is Tiggy. He is magical and can fly. His fur is orange and he has black stripes. One day we flew to Asia and had some ice-cream. Then we went in the jungle and saw an elephant. The baby stuffed tiger wanted to touch it and I said no. Tiggy and I flew back home and went to bed. Once upon a time there was a five-year-old girl, her name was Cendle. She had a teddy bear, it was her favourite toy. She took it everywhere with her, she named it Cuddles. It was golden and its eyes were dark brown. One day she fell asleep, and when she woke up her teddy bear was talking. It said, “Let’s go on an adventure.” Then he took his tie and pushed the button and there was a portal. They went to the waterfall and the water was sparkling blue. They spent the rest of the day there having fun. Elle de Klerk My favourite toy is a giant dolphin. He is blue and white and loves to look at the stars at night. He also likes to sing and dance. He is three years old. He is my best friend and we would go on magical adventures and get ice- cream. Then in the night when he looks at the stars, he would glow and when we go on magical adventures on a magic carpet and make new friends. Jody Hauuanga

Grade 3B - A day in the rain forest One day my dad and I went to the Amazon. We found a spot to camp for the night. Then the next morning we went looking for some animals. So off we went, not a long way, when we found a baby monkey. I picked up the monkey and named him Max. When we got back to camp I made Max his own little bed to sleep in. Soon my dad came back with a big fish for dinner. While he was looking for food I made the fire. We cooked the fish. As soon as it was done I took it off. The fish was super good. After the long night, in the morning Max and I found Christina and her grandmother. Christina, Max and I set off to go and catch more fish. We caught two but had trouble. When we went to Christina’s grandma’s camp we packed up. Then we went to our camp. We all stayed there forever after.
Emma Van Rensburg
Once, my friend Jody and I were in the forest. We are best friends. We were in a glorious place. We heard waterfalls, rivers, streams, nature and bears. I have to say we had lots of fun in the rain forest. We saw monkeys, birds, fish and insects. We finally got to a cave and we heard voices, we were not the only ones in the rain forest. It was Oliver and Mandla, they were also lost. In the morning we all woke up. We found food and we ate it for breakfast. We really missed our families a lot, but on the good side we were in a beautiful forest with beautiful things like flowers, trees and the sky. So we had fun in the rain forest.

Grade 4s Day with KEEP* at Daan Viljoen * Khomas Environmental Education Program (KEEP) At Daan Viljoen we went on Lopie’s Trail. Lopie is the friendly giraffe in our workbooks. Rachel was our guide and she taught us everything she knew about Daan Viljoen and the life in the park. We learnt how to distinguish one footprint from another. We played “Animal Detective” to find out which animal was behind each footprint. We learnt about living and non-living things as well as what we need to live. We learnt what pollution is doing to our environment and, of course, we learnt about giraffes! I want to thank Rachel and Naomi for being our guides and teaching us about Daan Viljoen.
Caitlyn Mandy
We went on a school trip to Daan Viljoen. First we met our guide Rachel. She showed us how to read animal tracks. She taught us all sorts of things, like how the food chain works, the difference between living and non-living things, and how litter can affect the environment. We also got an activity book with great facts about giraffes. A giraffe’s tongue is 50cm long, and they can run 50km/hour. They have five stomachs and they didn’t always have a long neck. We all learnt that if you take something out of the environment, it can collapse. We also got to see very old graves. I must say it was one of the most exciting and interesting trips I ever had.
Syrah Chamberlain
On the KEEP trip to Daan Viljoen we saw lots of animals, like giraffe, oryx, baboons, rock dassies and kudu. KEEP stands for Khomas Environmental Education Programme. The class before us saw a 3.5m long python, but we were too loud and scared the snake away. The walk was about 3km, with lots of learning stops. It took us 4 hours to complete the trail. The educators who led the walk were called Rachel and Naomi. A lady from the Allgemeine Zeitung joined us on the walk. She wrote a very informative article for the newspaper. We learnt lots of things about our environment and giraffe on the walk. It was a fun day out. Rachel and Naomi visited us in class two days later. We had to make our own posters about things we had learnt during our visit with KEEP.
Luca Fennessy
My class went to Daan Viljoen Game Reseve to learn about the Khomas Region environment project. We saw kudus, baboons and hartebeest. On our trip, we learnt how to identify animal tracks and dung. We sat down on a cliff and Rachel showed us some giraffe bones. We had an interesting workbook to complete. Rachel came two days later to our school for a follow-up activity. We all had great fun.

The Marrog My desk’s at the back of the class And nobody knows but nobody knows I’m a Marrog, from Mars With a body of brass And seventeen fingers and toes. Wouldn’t they shriek if they knew I’ve three eyes in the back of my head And my hair is bright purple, My nose is deep blue And my teeth are half- yellow and half-red. My five arms are silver and spiked With knives on them shaped that spears. I could go right back now if I liked—— And return in a million light years. I could gobble them all For I am seven foot tall And I’m breathing green flames from my ears. Wouldn’t they yell if they knew, If they guessed a Marrog was here? Ha ha they haven’t a clue – Or they would tremble in fear! “Look, look, a Marrog” They’d all scream – and smack The blackboard would fall and the ceiling would crack A teacher would faint, I suppose. But I would grin to myself, sitting right at the back And nobody, nobody knows

Benjamin Tordiffe: The very long bus drive was much fun because we played many different games and made jokes. We had a delicious lunch when we arrived at Etosha Village. We stayed in beautiful rooms and enjoyed the swimming pool. We learned many skills and the trip was a wonderful experience. Ashton Dercksen: My trip to Etosha Village was my first-time visit to Etosha. I shared a room with Cristiano and Damian. We had fantastic meals and an exciting game-drive where we saw many different animals. The last evening we had a campfire concert and we all enjoyed it very much. Mackenzie Spath: The first day we drove five hours to Etosha Village. We met uncle Hein when we arrived and had a delicious lunch before we went to our rooms. We swam the whole afternoon and enjoyed a game-drive before dinner. The next day we had an obstacle course, we learned to make fire and how to tie different knots. We enjoyed this amazing trip. Kairiri Katjiuongua: My favourite part of our Etosha Trip was the campfire concert. We had many different items with acting and singing. I enjoyed the swimming because I was with my friends all the time. We had a competition with the obstacle course and fire-making, and my team won. We also learned skills about rope tying and how to make a strong rope out of toilet paper.

Grade 5A visit Rent-a-Drum

We are Grade 5B
75
If I were a tin can on a heap of cans at Rent-a-Drum ...Grade 5B I would roll off the heap of cans, and roll down the street into a drain which leads to the bush. Then I would get stuck on an Oryx's horn. A week later a vet would take me off of its horn and return me to Rent-a-Drum where I will be made into the tip of a pen, which will get used by a St. Paul’s scholar. J.D. Gerber I would roll off the heap and roll around everywhere. I would roll under everyone's feet and make them trip. Eventually the wind would blow me to another part of Rent-a-Drum. They would pick me up and bail me. They would make me into another can to fill me up with food and sell me to someone else. Cadence van Rooi Maybe someone will trip and knock us out of the can-crushing machine, then my friends and I would go down the drain and ride a crocodile all the way to Can Land where my wife, children, brothers, sisters and I are. Lazarus Petrus If I was a tin can on a heap of cans at Rent-a-Drum, I would want to be surrounded by my fellow bean cans (I once had beans put in me). With my fellow bean cans I would first try to convince them to escape with me. Once I convinced them to escape, we would have to find a way to escape. So, once they take us to be compressed and all of that other junk, we would make our escape and kill everyone! Haha, I got you, didn't I? We're not going to kill everyone...ok? But seriously, we are not going to kill anyone. We're just going to karate-chop all of them. So, once all of that is over, we would escape. Oh yeah, but of course Kidney Beans had to step in and say, "But uhm, Beans, shouldn't we free all of the other recycle items first?" "No Kidney, because then they would try to overthrow me as King!" I replied. "Hey, who even made you King?" asked Pea Can. Then I said, "Pea Can, who even set you free?" As I asked him, I saw a whole army of bottles, glasses, etc. Oh crud, Kidney Beans set everyone free. "Ok, ok, I'm sure we can work this out." When I said that, all the workers woke up from their unconscious state and took us away to be made into pens and I'm the pen that wrote this story. BOOM! Prosperity Aluteni I would be running because the bottles and tin cans would be at war and I was going to be a hero and help my fellow tin cans. We made a master plan to help tin cans and the Rent-a-Drum employees because the bottles always littered, and I had a great plan. I then began working on my strategy to get to the very top. I stocked up on so many recycle goods and, eventually, I got to the top and asked the bottles to stop. In the end, we were all friends and St. Paul's College took a few recycle objects and donated them to every charity in Namibia. Mallex Shipanga I would try to escape... I have tried everything to escape except for going through the big gate. Cars and trucks come through it all the time, but I am going to do it! It was a struggle but I made it, then someone saw me, so I ran. If you haven't noticed, everyone knows me because I make a lot of mischief. I went back and they made a deal with me: I'll go on the Rent-a-Drum logo and they'll make something useful out of me. "Useful, am I useful?" I agreed, but they had to print me on the logo first. Once the logo had me on it, I ran away again and I am still
alive today. Oh, and I am still on the Rent-a-Drum logo. Emma Tromp If I was a tin can I will be made into a lighter and light the way for people and light up as bright as a star. Then I would go back to Rent-a-Drum, be recycled and then be a cool drink can. Junior Tjimuku I would roll down the heap of cans, the heap of cans would collapse, and then I could get out of Rent-a-Drum. With no one to see us rolling, we would finally be free and not smashed together, but we were separated and some did not make it. I went exploring, but soon I retreated and now I am back with my friends. Mariana Amaral Machado I would be a very bored tin, because tin cans can't do much except to accept my fate of being recycled into a Fanta tin, but I have already been a Sprite can. Maybe I will get filled up and get sent to Harry Potter World. If that happened I would be very happy, but that probably won't happen because Namibia doesn't ship to England, so I will probably become litter and be recycled over and over again (sigh). I feel bad for tin cans because they don't do anything except get recycled, melt and filled, and then do that over and over again Pascale Pimenta I would try to grow wings because I would die at Rent-a-Drum, but sadly it's not possible to grow wings. However, my life is just nothing, and then I remembered that God made me special and when He wants my story to end like this then I shall support that. Thankfully, God didn't want to tell my story like this, so he gave me a boost and I rolled around Rent-a-Drum. Until this day, I follow God and He stays by my side. I always rolled around Rent-a-Drum, every day, then the day came when I was picked up and recycled and I lived happily in God's hands. Sinja-Claire Triebner I would eat all the peaches inside me to grow legs, and then when the workers go on their lunch break, I would sneak off and go to the park where I will meet a mole who would take me through his holes into Africa. I came out on a property and I fell into a pool full of crocodiles. I tried to get out at the corner of the pool, but the crocodiles came for me. They swam underneath me and I got out and went into the house. The owner threw me away and I went back to Rent-a-Drum in a truck, where I found out they were actually toy crocodiles. I was recycled into a lunchbox and I was bought from Woolworths to be used by a scholar from Kyalami Preparatory School. He found his lunchbox to be the best lunchbox ever. He always wondered why it had legs... Todd Parker I would grow legs and jump on an aeroplane to Paris. A family would take me in and recycle me into a cup holder. They would mess on me. One day I had enough, so I ran away and then builders found me. They were building the Eiffel Tower. I was melted and turned into the tip of the tower. I loved looking down on Paris. Jeskia Campbell I would grow legs and wings and I would fly down and give all my tin can friends the super power I have. Then we would all fly away and cross roads and seas, but we first need to make a ship from all
76
the waste at Rent-a-Drum. I took shredded money and cardboard and paper to make the ship, that was the only things I could find. Then we set sail. For cans it is a sea, but for humans it is a puddle. Then we will go shopping and sit where all the other cans are. After a while a shopkeeper calls Rent-a- Drum, and then they come and pick us tin cans up and take us back to Rent-a-Drum because we are empty. Now we tin cans have to start again with growing wings and legs and crossing seas and roads. All our work went to waste. Janice Kennedy I would sit there and look at the clouds and spot different shapes. Then I would play I spy with my little eye, jump off of the top of the pile of cans and go and find some new friends. I would play with the cans at the bottom of the pile or I would jump on the truck and go for a little ride. At night I would go back to the top of the pile, look at the stars and try to find the heap of cans with my friends. Kiera McNamara I would not like to be crushed and made into something else, so I would find a bunch of bottle caps and use them to create arms and legs for myself and 5 other cans. During the night, we would find some black paper and make clothes so that we could be spies! Then we would go back to the pile of tin cans and wait there until the next morning. When the workers arrive, we would tie their shoelaces together so they cannot crush us. Helina Shepard I would be violet and white and my two best friends, who are also tin cans, will be called Prosperity and Naritunge. Prosperity would be coloured lilac and light red, while Naritinge would be coloured lavender and turquoise. We will play on the tin can pile all day, every day, and talk and play all the pain away. My best tin can wishes. Shana Arendorf The wind will blow me off of the pile of cans, and I will roll onto the road and roll all the way to Windhoek where a boy will pick me up and throw me onto a truck going to the airport. I will roll onto an aeroplane flying to Las Vegas, where I will be recycled into a tin piggy bank painted bright blue. Ryan Taylor Moffett I would be scared because I would not know when I will be the next one to go into the big metal jaws. They can crush more than 500kg with ease, but I would have an idea. While I am on the conveyer belt, rolling to certain death, just before I can be chomped, I will roll off of the belt and out of Rent-a-Drum. I will meet up with other tins that were also smart enough to survive and roll with them through the big bad world. Daniel Hahn While casually sitting on a pile of rubbish I heard a voice calling out, "I want a friend." "I can be your friend, my name is Tom," I replied as I walked towards the can. "My name is Harry. What are you doing on Saturday? I am planning to escape from this place," Harry said. Immediately curious, I answered, "I would love to join you. Where shall we go after we escape?" I saw the relief on Harry's face, he had found a partner! With a tone of excitement he explained that they can go wherever they like, even Hawaii. Saturday night came and the two friends met up, rolled quietly towards the main gate, careful not to get caught, but they made a noise. Out of nowhere a guard came and stepped on them both, not only squashing them but their tiny tin can dreams as well. Daniel Jauss I would try to roll off, get recycled and I will be part of a race car. One day the race car will crash and I will end up back on the same
77
heap of cans, but I will get recycled again. This time I will be used as a part of a rocket ship going to the moon. After I fulfilled my duty, I will be recycled again into something simpler, like a pen. I would end up in the hand of a St. Paul’s College scholar who always gets an average of 90%, and is good at playing soccer. Ramsay McDonald A bird would swoop down and pick me up. I would be dropped in a crushing machine. After I was recycled I woke up to find my new self to be as flat as a pancake, and I spent the rest of my life in a church as a candle holder. Garren Backhaus I would roll off of the pile of cans and encourage the rest of the cans to follow me. We would ride off into the sunset, each on our own elephant, all the way to the circus. We will play the recorder for the whole world to listen to. We will all become rich and famous. Jaime Gilles I would ask the workers to help me on my quest. After they bring me all the glass and other materials that I need, I will build a flying car and use it to fly to Hawaii for a permanent vacation. I would go surfing on some of the biggest waves in the world, but all good things come to an end. Upon my return to Rent-a-Drum, I would soon be recycled and reused as a tin coffee mug for a St. Paul’s College scholar to drink hot chocolate in the cold Namibian winters. Jason Barnard I would be recycled and I would be created into something else that other people can use. When I am no longer useful to them, they will place me in a recycle bin, like good Namibian citizens do. Back at Rent-a-Drum, I would yet again be recycled. The whole process would repeat itself. Being recycled will make me feel happy because I can always be there to help people, which is something I love to do. I will always be useful to someone in one or other form, as long as they keep on recycling me once they have no further use for me. Erica Nande I cannot imagine myself liking being a tin can because the recycling process can be scary. Being melted by hot air would be terrifying, but all I need to do is pray and trust that God will give me wings so that I can fly away from this nightmare. I would love to help the world recycle old scrap, but I would not want to be recycled myself. I was daydreaming about all the possibilities there are in life for a tin can, but I was interrupted by loud voices, laughs and footsteps of the St. Paul’s College grade 5 students. One of the scholars saw me and with a soft voice she asked if she could take me home with her, and the guard said that she may. My prayer was answered, and from that day on I lived a long and wonderful life with the scholar. Nontombi Moyo I would start off with rebelling against the humans, telling my fellow cans that these people have no right to crush us into tiny bits and pieces, and that if we stand together we can get out of this place. Our first course of action was to destroy the machines responsible for the death of so many of our friends. I instructed Kidney Beans to free the plastic bottles and he did so accordingly. The plastic bottles did not like my idea and did not want to run away because they wanted to become something new (which is actually what the machine did to us). I understood what they meant and decided that my plan was stupid. I was recycled later that day and turned into a pen, which was bought by Naritunge's mom. Naritunge loved writing with me, but my ink quickly ran out and she threw me into the recycle bin. The only thought going through my head was, "Here we go again!" Naritunge Shiimi

Youth with a Purpose (YWAP) Youth With A Purpose (YWAP) is a special time of sharing with students applicable stories, prayers, laughter, encouragement, and ways to apply God's Word to their lives. YWAP leaders are always enthusiastically greeted with smiles, hugs, and even cheers as they walk into the different classrooms. The children are also extremely receptive to the Biblical teachings. Sport Archery The fourth year of St. Paul’s participation in NASP had many highlights, as four of our junior archers were part of the Namibian NASP Development Team which participated in the World Championships. The year started off with a competition in Windhoek early in February, and concluded with a competition in Walvis Bay during October. The St. Paul’s archers also participated in other competitions held in Windhoek, Okahandja and Otavi.

Interhouse Athletics Without the help and support of our wonderful parents and staff, an event like this would not be the same. Thank you to those who always volunteer their help and those who come to support the children at events. We cherish you!

A huge number of our children, from U/10 – U/13, were selected to participate at the Small Schools athletics meeting in February.
A big thank you goes to all the coaches, teachers and parents who helped to make the athletic season of 2016 a great success.
Unfortunately, no athletes qualified for the National Athletics competition in Swakopmund during April.

Cricket This year the mini-cricket league changed completely. The league was non-competitive, and it taught our players more about the game and not to focus only on winning. This concept worked well and our boys and girls enjoyed two months of exciting cricket. The U/11 cricket team ended up 3rd in the league. They enjoyed all their league games and learnt many skills in the process. They also took part in the Walvis Bay Salt Refinery Cricket Week during August in Walvis Bay. It was an enjoyable week for the cricketers. We were fortunate enough to have an U/13 cricket team again this year. They played their hearts out in their league and ended 2nd in the Plate division. Congratulations to Jack Parker, Todd Parker and Ryan Moffett who were selected for the U/11 Namibian cricket team. We are very proud of these three boys, who will be touring to South Africa during December. A big thank you to Fortune Matawu, Zee Mlalazi, Manico Engelbrecht, and our dedicated teachers for all the hours they put into the development of our school’s cricket.

Hockey
LOVE FOOD
During the 2016 hockey season there were quite a few changes.
We entered 18 teams in the NHU league: 6 U/8 teams (3 boys & 3 girls), 5 U/10 teams (2 boys & 3 girls), 5 U/14 teams (2 boys & 3 girls). The U/8s took part in a non-competitive league to improve their hockey skills and to instil a love for the sport. They truly enjoy hockey and have learned a lot about the game.
Our U/10 boys won their league and the girls came 3rd. The U/14 girls also won their league. The U/14 boys joined with St George’s to make two Saints teams. The Saints B team won their league. We are very proud of all our teams, especially our B-teams and C-teams who always played their best and showed good sportsmanship throughout the year.
e are tremendously proud of our players’ behaviour on and off the field. Our players played with all their heart and they amazed everybody with their skill, sportsmanship and determination. During the annual Mini World Cup, hosted by K5 Sports, St Paul’s represented Fiji. It was an enjoyable day for the children, seeing it was the first time that the tournament was held on ASTRO. A big thank you goes to all the parents that joined in the activities of the day. Fiji came second this year in the tournament. We would like to congratulate Liya Herunga, who was selected for the NSSU U/14 girls’ team. Thank you to every coach, teacher and parent who is involved with hockey. Our hockey family is sure to be the best in Namibia!
