The National College of School Leadership offers a wide range of online collaborative tools

The site mixes text with podcasts and webcasts. They are short and effective. Never more than 2 mins long.

I like the way the site considers the importance of a good UI.

The site uses some really good design features. Here, you click on different image elements, which bring up text, video, or audio.

This page helps first time users match their experience to the best pathway through the course.

The overview

This is Tate St Ives. It's interesting, because this is online learning where there doesn't appear to be any collaboration on offer at all! Wasted opportunity. Like NCSL there are links on images.

Clicking on a link brings up text, audio or video.

This is a sample video, showing how to master a new painting technique. The strange thing is, after that, the student has nowhere to share any scanned work, or upload a YouTube type video of what they've managed themselves.

I was impressed that there was a section for visually impaired students. Downloadable PDFs that can be printed onto raised paper, then a range of audio and visual downloads to help learning.

St Paul's is a fully committed Web 2.0 school. These are slides from a seminar I attended at BETT last month. The school runs 100s of courses on its VLE, but also has a strong outward looking presence, for parents and other stakeholders.
