PSA Student Scholarships The School/University Partnership Office welcomes scholarship opportunities to qualifying students graduating from SVSU’s authorized Public School Academies. Students receive a $6,000 scholarship for up to four consecutive school years.
PSA Scholar Program To increase University graduation and retention rates, SUPO developed the Public School Academy Scholar Program. Founded in the fall of 2011, the PSA Scholar Program works in partnership with SVSU’s enrollment management and student service offices to: 1. recruit students from SVSU authorized Public School Academies, 2. provide financial support through the PSA Scholarship, and 3. provide the academic supports needed to retain and graduate students.
Students who receive a PSA scholarship enter the Scholar Program and are placed into an intense college readiness program that provides support in and outside of the classroom. Some of the supports include one-on-one tutoring through the Center for Academic Achievement, volunteer experiences, leadership experience, employment, and academic advising. In addition, the Scholar Program provides a summer boot camp for Freshman to transition to campus life. Thirty-three freshman started the program in 201718. The retention rate for Fall 2017 to Winter 2018 was 79.3%. 7
