SVSU hosted a two-day competition for regional university students to test their skills in a supportive environment while receiving guidance from sales professionals. On the first day, participating students received personalized training from the NBA Milwaukee Bucks inside-sales team. They then competed in a tournamentstyle role-play and elevator pitch competition, after which four SVSU business students took home cash prizes totaling nearly $2,000.

Assistant Professor of Kinesiology
Professor Darr holds a BS in dietetics and an MS and PhD in exercise science. A registered dietitian with over 10 years’ experience, she founded SVSU Sports Nutrition, which provides comprehensive nutrition services to athletes. Kinesiology students assist in promoting a balanced lifestyle for optimal performance.

In addition, many honors students choose to live in SVSU’s Honors Housing. The community provides a foundation for collaboration and building friendships.

GLOBAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARS
This program will help you discover the important impact of gaining a global perspective in relation to your studies. SVSU Global Foundation Scholars have the chance to take specialized courses and live together in the same residential community. The goal of this program is to help you engage in discussions on global topics, gain essential leadership skills and build relationships across the campus community.
Applicants must have a minimum 3.50 cumulative high school GPA and must have demonstrated leadership and service in their schools and/or communities to be eligible.
Autonomous Asian Carp Deterrent System
Engineering students and faculty worked together on a research project and worked to create an autonomous drone designed to help keep an invasive species of Asian Carp out of the Great Lakes.
GARBER CARDINAL BUSINESS EDGE
This two-year program in the Scott L. Carmona College of Business provides exciting co-curricular travel experiences, faculty mentors and regular exposure to senior executives and business professionals.
Applicants must pursue a business degree and have a minimum 3.20 cumulative high school GPA to be eligible.

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH (UGRP)
The Undergraduate Research Program (UGRP) at SVSU allows students to apply to research with faculty from any major starting as early as freshman year.
Katie Nixon from Byron, Michigan, is using her UGRP study grant to search for evidence of improved overall balance in recreational runners after using the “DuneStepper” exercise device.
Similarly, Erica L. Behnfeldt from Fenton, Michigan, is investigating how microplastics in the environment can affect single-celled organisms as part of her UGRP project.
STUDY ABROAD SPREAD YOUR CARDINAL WINGS
SVSU study abroad programs offer students unique experiences in which they can learn to be truly independent while exploring the world. These opportunities allow students to immerse themselves in new cultures with the reassurance of a strong support system, ensuring that assistance is available whenever needed.
FACULTY-LED
Students travel as a group with faculty leaders to study abroad. The destinations and courses taught vary year to year. Programs and destinations are announced by the beginning of the fall semester.
STUDENT TEACHING
The Study Abroad Office has teamed up with the College of Education to offer future teachers the opportunity to complete part of their student teaching semester abroad.
EXCHANGE PROGRAM
SVSU has relationships with many universities overseas that allow the exchange of students. Participants may live on campus and study alongside local students.
PROVIDER PROGRAM
We work with our provider partners to help coordinate your study abroad experience, including logistics with on-site orientations, housing, course registration, in-country support, cultural activities, excursions ‘and more.
