MISSION
We are a community of students, teachers and parents committed to the development of the whole child through a belief in every child’s unlimited potential by focusing on high expectations, rigor, raising achievement and developing character. Students have access to technology including iPad minis, Chromebooks and laptops, which enhance classroom learning objectives. As a movement school, students participate in two-daily movement breaks where they move to activate both sides of the brain helping children reenergize and focus on learning.
TECHNOLOGY
Classrooms are equipped with five iPad minis for curriculum center use, projectors, document cameras and audio systems. In addition, each grade level has access to a classroom set of 30 Chromebooks on mobile carts. Teachers integrate technology in creative and collaborative lessons. Student can instantly show mastery and understanding of concepts allowing teachers to instruct to the needs of the class.
POSITIVE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONS AND SUPPORT (PBIS) Mead is a Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) school where students and staff have the same school wide expectations. Students get recognized for showing MEAD - Manners, Excellences, Attitude and Determination. Individual and all school rewards are given to make Mead’s learning environment a positive and respectful community.

MOVEMENT
At Mead Elementary, students participate in two movement breaks everyday where they stand up, move and activate both sides of their brain. These breaks get their blood flowing and prepare students to learn for longer periods of time. Through professional development for teachers, materials for classroom movement, an audio system for the all school movement days and the implementation of the 100 mile Club, staff experiences positive impacts throughout the classrooms. The benefits of this neuroscience research based initiative includes higher student engagement and an increase in positive behavior throughout the school.
