Mead Middle School is an EXCEL focus school (Extra-Curricular Engagement and Learning) and believes that students who get involved and are connected to the school are more likely to succeed. The work around getting kids involved throughout school has helped to support the success. The EXCEL program extends student learning and the sense of belonging by adding several programs outside the instructional day. This involvement improves the academic focus during the school day and allows the school to focus on providing a well rounded learning experience. Mead’s goal is to have 100 percent of our students involved outside of the classroom. mms.svvsd.org/about/excel

ACADEMIC RIGOR
Mead’s goal is to increase student achievement in reading, writing and math. Staff have high academic expectations for students and support them the following ways: • Accelerated Reader Program • Literacy Strategies and Expectations throughout all curriculum • Leveled Math Classes and Math’s Mate Program • Math and Literacy Lab for struggling students Team teaching allows teachers to integrated subjects in a way that makes learning more relevant.
