The club’s return to day bowls has been very successful with good attendances.

There will not be a meeting in May. The next meeting topic will be on Native bees - we hope to have a speaker for this meeting. Bring your questions and knowledge to share for our next meeting at 2:00pm on Sunday 20th June.

Come along and have morning tea with the Mayor. Karen Vernon, Mayor of the Town of Victoria Park, will visit Bentley Park to update us on local government issues and events in the Town. Come to ask any questions you may have about the interaction between Bentley Park Village and the Town of Victoria Park.

Our second gala day for the Hazel Lancaster shield was held mid-April and was won by the team of Adrian Fishwick (skipper), Len Bell (third) and Dennis Morris (lead). Our next gala day is scheduled for 24th May. Check our notice board for details the next social date for members to mark on their calendar for the club’s next lunch outing is 27th July. More details in later editions of ‘What’s On’. All new and long-time residents are welcome to join us each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 1pm for a game of bowls.

SWANCARE AUXILIARY The May meeting of the Auxiliary is usually followed by a fashion parade. However, this year instead of the fashion house coming here we are going to them. Maxie’s Fashions in Armadale Shopping Centre are supplying a coach to pick us up at the Admin building leaving at 9am and returning approximately 12.30pm on May 25th. There will be a short parade followed by browsing in the shop. The coffee shop and shoe shop are giving discounts on the day. If you want to do your weekly shop at Woolworths, there is room on the bus to bring it home. Please note there will not be a meeting that day. SEATED EXERCISE GROUP Would you like to do a little exercise in the morning? We are not a club as such, just a gathering of people who have become friends but we would love to greet some new faces. The session only takes 25 minutes finishing with a friendly tea or coffee and natter.

FRIDAY NIGHT FLICKS ‘The Patchwork Band’ Come and listen to this band with guitar based tunes from 60s and 70s, new to Bentley Park. This is a free event, afternoon tea will be served (BYO cup). Just turn up, tickets not required.

Friday Night Flicks is screening ‘The Greatest Showman’ starring Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, and Zac Efron. This film celebrates the birth of show business and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. The SwanCare bus begins picking up at 6.00pm, and takes you back home.

MAHJONG CLUB LINE DANCING Everyone is welcome to come and give it a try. So good for balance, co-ordination and fitness. Even if you would like to just come and watch and join us for morning tea and maybe try some of the easier dances. We don’t mind if you are learning. I demonstrate and call instructions for all the dances. Our main aim is to have some fun as we exercise.

HANDICRAFT We meet every Monday afternoon and anyone is very welcome to join the group or you can just pop in for a chat about craft or anything else! Just a reminder for our upcoming Mother’s Day Stall running on 3rd May from 9am – 11.30am in Activity Room in the Leisure Precinct. We will be selling coat hangers, hand towels, dolls, bags, and more. New members are still very welcome - we do a bit of craft, chat a lot and have a cuppa!

VILLAGE RESIDENTS ADVISORY COUNCIL (VRAC) The speaker for the May Coffee Morning meeting will be Daniel Smith, the newly appointed Manager of Corporate Hospitality for SwanCare. Daniel will tell us about his plans for the food services across the village and care centres, and – most importantly – give us an update on the opening of Jarrah Café! I am sure that Daniel will be pleased to hear your suggestions for themed dinners and other events.
