It’s t’s a funny game football! I said in last weeks programme...Play well and get beat , play really well and get beat… play poorly (by our standards) and win. Well that’s now two weeks in a row were have played well below the standards we set ourselves and have managed a win, this time to take the three points versus Cargo Fleet despite doing our best to lose the game after being 22-0 up. We spoke about closing the game out when leading towards the end of the game but whether it was nerves, tiredness( it was very hot) or just attitude we first gave away a sloppy free kick in dangerous areas and then fell asleep for their equaliser. A pleasing point was the attitude to keep going and to press for a winner with only 2 minutes left on the watch…Normally we would be looking to concede not win but another great run by Naz brought the penalty and Brock was cool to convert. Lets hope that winning can become a habit in both league and cup as the confidence it brings will convert the quality football we play at times into deserved points “ Some of the best football I’ve seen in the 1st half” was the referees comments about our 1st game at Guisborough. The County cup sees us drawn against Redheugh who recently beat Birtley St Josephs 7-4. We lost in a pre season to St Josephs 44-2 44-0 down at half time but a much stronger performance in the second half against a team who I think on the day was one of the best teams we have played. We will really need to be on our game but with the massive injury list, this year whatever happens in the county cup we will chalk it down to experience and hopefully make some new friends along the way.

2010 / 2011 The Intermediates founded when former U18 manager and BTJFC Secretary Peter Cooper and John Swanson came together to put together an adult team for the junior section. Both agreed that the Teesside league would be a good challenge and both had the same vision, to have a team where the players from the junior section could stay with the club once they had finished their junior football. The first season proved difficult on many levels; 42 players coming and going, organising a strip and pitches and most significantly the devastating death of Peter in October 2010. Ian Murray then the U18 manager joined the management team. A difficult season saw only 1 win in29 games... but the basis of a squad to go into the next season, and true to the philosophy that Peter had held, the majority had been former Junior players. 2011 / 2012 With a core of lads from the previous season and some of Ian's former U18 lads, the season looked to be full of promise, however the step up for the new lads and trying to gel the squads together saw the season start off where it finished the previous season, winless, however the results were encouraging. Once the team had it's first win under it's belt it went on an unbeaten run of 8 games. With the odd win/draw towards the end of the season...the results did not reflect the performances. The team had now started to develop a style of it's own, playing some attractive football, the highlight of the season had to be away to Northallerton Academy 22-0 down at half time, Town outplayed Northallerton to win 33-2 playing some great football, showing great character and both starting and finishing with10 former Junior players... the foundation well and truly in place. Thanks to the hard work of Ian The team got new strips through a sponsorship agreement with RA DALTON. whose support is still much appreciated. 2012 / 2013 A more settled squad started the season playing a good style of football however a string of long term injuries to key players disrupted the season. Again the squad struggled for points and goals but the last 9 games of the season saw a more settled 2--1 win at team start to play the football it promised early on. The highlight being the 2 Lingdale the first team to defeat champions (1 of only 2 clubs to do it) The season again saw progress both on and off the pitch with the addition to the coaching staff of goalkeeping coach Peter Laverick. The squad has 25 former junior players out of the 32 signed on continuing the philosophy that the team was set up to fulfil 2013 / 2014 We start the season at a new ground, Northfield sportsdrome and now have the support of the Whitehouse Pub who provide after match refreshments and have also paid for our pitch fees‌‌ Massive thanks !!!
Over the last 3 years we have entered the Durham County Trophy and have used these games to spread the word about what BTJFC are about and to make new “friends”. This year our friendlies were against 2 teams we has played in the cup in previous years and a new community club…. This is their season! Wingate FC 11-3 Spennymoor Town Reserves A five man midfield forced the visitors to go long without much danger. With the ball we rushed decisions and consequently made bad ones turning over possession far too easily and often. Home keeper Blenkinsop made a series of saves from half chances that fell to the visitor. Wingate struggled to sustain any possession but showed a threat on the counter. Our first corner of the day brought the opening goal of the game a whipped delivery was met with a thumping header from Hart which found the back of the net. The goal brought confidence for a short spell. Spennymoor grew into the game. The equaliser came from the penalty spot Moore dispatched the spot kick 11-1. The visitors than took the lead following a half clearance and the shot rifled from 18yds 11-2.After that Wingate huffed and puffed a little but the third Spennymoor goal settled the contest.
Birtley St Josephs 4 v 5 New Fordley Paul Beat, Martin Guy, Graham Troughton and Damien Stevens were all on target for Birtley Saint Josephs but New Fordley won a 9 goal thriller with strikes from Lee Waugh (2), Ben Davison, Louis Boddy and Mark Waite. Today’s Opponents P W D L
