Our Junior teams have just received their fixtures and dividion placements for the coming season, I think the coaches were more excited than the kids We also handed out our new managers bench jackets which will add to to the clubs identity. It’s been a busy summer during the “break”. Since the kids last played a competitive game we held our 2nd FANTASTIC presentation day, honoured by an appearance from Aitor Karanker. We held our tannual football festival (in some testing conditions) hosting 48 teams from across the area. Our junior sides have also visited Flamingoland and Holland, they’ve entered tournaments and started their pre season. The committee is already working hard on our 2 annual fundraisers, 1 in October and the other in March and YES we are even working on next years presentation day and Festival. We have also started “Soccer Tots” 9-10 at Billingham South for 3-5 yr olds.. Run by Jonathan Gartland and assisted by Lee Brown and John Swanson BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!

2010 / 2011
The Intermediates founded when former U18 manager and BTJFC Secretary Peter Cooper and John Swanson came together to put together an adult team for the junior section. Both agreed that the Teesside league would be a good challenge and both had the same vision, to have a team where the players from the junior section could stay with the club once they had finished their junior football. The first season proved difficult on many levels; 42 players coming and going, organising a strip and pitches and most significantly the devastating death of Peter in October 2010. Ian Murray then the U18 manager joined the management team. A difficult season saw only 1 win in29 games... but the basis of a squad to go into the next season, and true to the philosophy that Peter had held, the majority had been former Junior players. 2011 / 2012 With a core of lads from the previous season and some of Ian's former U18 lads, the season looked to be full of promise, however the step up for the new lads and trying to gel the squads together saw the season start off where it finished the previous season, winless, however the results were encouraging. Once the team had it's first win under it's belt it went on an unbeaten run of 8 games. With the odd win/draw towards the end of the season...the results did not reflect the performances. The team had now started to develop a style of it's own, playing some attractive football, the highlight of the season had to be away to Northallerton Academy 2-0 down at half time, Town outplayed Northallerton to win 3-2 playing some great football, showing great character and both starting and finishing with 10 former Junior players... the foundation well and truly in place. Thanks to the hard work of Ian The team got new strips through a sponsorship agreement with RA DALTON. whose support is still much appreciated.
2012 / 2013
A more settled squad started the season playing a good style of football however a string of long term injuries to key players disrupted the season. Again the squad struggled for points and goals but the last 9 games of the season saw a more settled team start to play the football it promised early on. The highlight being the 2-1 win at Lingdale the first team to defeat champions (1 of only 2 clubs to do it) The season again saw progress both on and off the pitch with the addition to the coaching staff of goalkeeping coach Peter Laverick. The squad has 25 former junior players out of the 32 signed on continuing the philosophy that the team was set up to fulfil 7
2013 / 2014 We started the season at a new ground, Northfield sportsdrome and now have the support of the Whitehouse Pub who provide after match refreshments, Massive thanks !!! Our Football continued to go from the ridiculous to the sublime, some great moves and goals but games where we fell apart in sections of the game and got punished. This will happen with a young team but in the coming season we will look for those players now in their 5th season, even though they are still young, to step up to the plate. The season started off badly with Cooky suffering a double fracture but it did save us 3 points, happily Cooky started training at the end of the season. The emphasis was again on the SQUAD with Muzz starting to work shifts a massive loss for us after his early season form but that is why we needed numbers to turn up to games and training. We did progress off the field and on but again finished bottom ( Billingham Athletic resigning). Lav as leading goal scorer led the line well and finished 2nd highest scorer in Billingham. As a team we need to be more clinical and punish teams mistakes like they punish ours. For the first time we also produced a free match programme and developed to publishing it on-line

A NEW NAME‌ BILLINGHAM FC
Now
going into our 5th season we welcomed the 3rd group of young lads to come through from the juniors. Many have had a taste over the last couple of seasons on an ad-hoc basis and we will look to integrate them fully into the squad which I expect to be a little smaller this season but also a season wiser. The season turned out to be more about developments off the field than on. We introduced Beth Pounder to the management team in the closed season. Beth is a qualified Sports Scientist and will deal with players injuries and rehabilitation. Beth is also a former Billingham Junior. We held our 1st Golf day in August and this is now an annual event. We secured funding from the Teesside Philanthropic Society to enable us to buy training/ warm up kit for the whole squad. The press release featured in the Billingham Community News Paper and this led to a further grant from the Billingham Legacy Foundation which has enabled us to buy Rain jackets for the whole squad and 5 sub suits for the lads on the bench match days. Thanks to hard work by Ian Murray we have also retained RA DALTON as a sponsor of a new home kit (in the same style and colours as the juniors) and Klargester as new sponsors of our much needed away kit
On the pitch we continued to try and play a passing game, playing out from the back. After a good pre season we started reasonably well in the league but drawing games we really should have won, these lost points would come back at the end of the season to show in our final position. Our County cup game saw us host Ferryhill and a good performance saw us progress to the 1st round proper for the 1st time (another small landmark) and travel to Murton. A game on reflection we could have won but ended up going down 4-3. The end of the season was scrappy and when the U18’s folded some of the lads joined the squad, maybe a year early having had the past years experience but non the less they were welcomed into the squad.

Our first home game of the new season and the new format league sees us welcome Boro Rnagers to the Sportdrome this afternoon. Boro Rangers were one of the better sides we faced last year and I expect the challenge to be equally hard this weekend Our pre season has been full of stops and starts. The plans laid out by the management team have been devastated by the numbers of lads turning up for both training and friendlies. We had to cancel our 1st friendly and ask for dispensation from the league to postpone our first game. Pre season has continued into the start of the season having to play the last 30 minutes of both league games with 10 men due to lack of numbers on the bench. Whilst we understand that holidays and work commitment this time of the year make it awkward, there also has to be a commitment to Saturday afternoon is for football and once we have enough lads buying into that and turning up week in week out then we might then start to see some of the potential of the squad fulfilled. We can expect to be beaten in some games, the games against the top 1st division teams last year, we are not a 1st division team yet. What we cannot allow to happen is the 2nd half against West End when too many lads gave up! Lets see where we are (in the bottom 10) when the league splits and then see how we then do against the teams that are around us.

Back Pain Back Pain can be categorised into short term and long term with different injuries to the back being treated in different ways. Short term back pain is usually treated with anti-inflammatory pain killers and will usually clear up itself within a six week period. Long term back pain usually lasts longer than six weeks and will require treatment. A GP, Sports Therapist or Physiotherapist will normally recommend a course of rehabilitation treatments to reduce the back pain which will find out the root of the problem. Alongside taking anti-inflammatory pain killers, you may need to attend exercise classes, these exercise classes will help to improve your posture, strengthen the muscles of the back and you will also be taught aerobic exercises and stretching exercises. In some more severe cases, manual therapy techniques of the spine may be necessary to help alleviate the symptoms of back pain, this involves mobilisation and manipulation of the spine in the form of specialised hands on techniques to the structures of the spine, only qualified individuals should do these techniques such as sports therapists and physiotherapists. You may also need to be referred to an osteopath or chiropractor that specialises in treatments to the spine. Another form of treatment is acupuncture, this is where fine needles are inserted into certain points of the body, it has been shown to reduce the symptoms of back pain however this form of treatment is not always available on the nhs and you may need to visit a qualified professional. For less severe back pain, there are home treatments you can try before seeing a professional. This involves using hot and cold therapy, some individuals may find that by placing a heat pad or ice pack to the area may alleviate pain symptoms. A very simple home remedy is relaxation, laying in a hot bath to relax or finding a comfortable place to lay will help as this will reduce tension in the back, the more you worry the worse your symptoms will become as the tension in the back increases. Another simple home remedy involves changing your sleeping position, the way you sleep will affect your pain levels, if you lay on your side naturally try placing a pillow between your legs, or if you lay on your back try placing a pillow under your knees as this encourages the natural curve of the spine. Also address your lifestyle, do you work a lot? do you have poor posture while at work? Are you overweight? Do you do enough recommended exercise a week? Are you stressed lately? Is there anything you can do to prevent your stress or reduce it? All of these factors will affect back pain. Make some changes and monitor the pain. It could be something very simple that is causing the back pain that you can help by changing your lifestyle. Always try these home remedies first as a professional will tell you to do the same thing, it may frustrate you but you will benefit in the long run! If your symptoms continue to progress seek further advice and treatment from a professional. Take regular pain killers and try the home remedies first as a GP may not refer you until the six week period is up!

This season following te merging of the two divisions every team will play each other once. The division will then split in two, the bottom 10 will then play in their own division and the top 9 in their’s. The team finishing in the bottom 10 cannot finish higher than 10th despite the number of points they attain by the end of the season.

Well, Hello my name is Jonny Bullock and I would like to welcome you to my blog. Firstly i would love to tell you a little bit about myself, I'm 20 years old and I am from the North East of England and currently study Marketing & Advertising at Teesside University.
This Blog is going to include everything music and features about myself called About Me! Secondly, Has anyone told you that you look great today? Well at this blog you will get that and a great feel good factor. Lastly, I've had a football blog before but I fancied a change to a more personal and music blog and I've nearly been doing it for a year now and I'm loving every moment of it. So yeah this my blog and hopefully every week you will learn a little bit more about me! Jonny
