THE KINGS ARMS The Kings Arms was built in 1936 in a traditional 1930s design. It is situated in large landscaped gardens reflecting the local English countryside. The pub originally opened with the objective of providing a range of amenities for the local community including luncheons and teas together with fine ales and refreshments in pleasant comfortable surroundings. Although the pub may have seen many changes over the years we still offer the same comfort and value for money in our current food and drink offers. Our 2 meals at a set price include classics like hand battered fish and chips, rump steak and chips with all the trimmings and New York style chicken. With Sunday roasts all day every Sunday including a ‘go large’ option and midweek grill and curry nights priced to include a drink, our menu offers all your pub favourites and more. You will also find great deals on lagers, spirits and soft drinks. We offer a high standard of customer service and with 7 TV screens we are also very popular for sporting events. So, whether football, cricket or rugby is your passion, you'll find it all at The Kings Arms. We now boasts a fantastic new pizza oven, it’s now easy to grab a slice of the action whilst saving dough, perfect if you’re looking to feed a hungry group! 2010 / 2011

The Intermediates founded when former U18 manager and BTJFC Secretary Peter Cooper and John Swanson came together to put together an adult team for the junior section. Both agreed that the Teesside league would be a good challenge and both had the same vision, to have a team where the players from the junior section could stay with the club once they had finished their junior football. The first season proved difficult on many levels; 42 players coming and going, organising a strip and pitches and most significantly the devastating death of Peter in October 2010. Ian Murray then the U18 manager joined the management team. A difficult season saw only 1 win in29 games... but the basis of a squad to go into the next season, and true to the philosophy that Peter had held, the majority had been former Junior players. 2011 / 2012 With a core of lads from the previous season and some of Ian's former U18 lads, the season looked to be full of promise, however the step up for the new lads and trying to gel the squads together saw the season start off where it finished the previous season, winless, however the results were encouraging. Once the team had it's first win under it's belt it went on an unbeaten run of 8 games. With the odd win/draw towards the end of the season...the results did not reflect the performances. The team had now started to develop a style of it's own, playing some attractive football, the highlight of the season had to be away to Northallerton Academy 2-0 down at half time, Town outplayed Northallerton to win 3-2 playing some great football, showing great character and both starting and finishing with 10 former Junior players... the foundation well and truly in place. Thanks to the hard work of Ian The team got new strips through a sponsorship agreement with RA DALTON. whose support is still much appreciated.

2012 / 2013

A more settled squad started the season playing a good style of football however a string of long term injuries to key players disrupted the season. Again the squad struggled for points and goals but the last 9 games of the season saw a more settled team start to play the football it promised early on. The highlight being the 2-1 win at Lingdale the first team to defeat champions (1 of only 2 clubs to do it) The season again saw progress both on and off the pitch with the addition to the coaching staff of goalkeeping coach Peter Laverick. The squad has 25 former junior players out of the 32 signed on continuing the philosophy that the team was set up to fulfil 7

2013 / 2014 We started the season at a new ground, Northfield sportsdrome and now have the support of the Whitehouse Pub who provide after match refreshments, Massive thanks !!! Our Football continued to go from the ridiculous to the sublime, some great moves and goals but games where we fell apart in sections of the game and got punished. This will happen with a young team but in the coming season we will look for those players now in their 5th season, even though they are still young, to step up to the plate. The season started off badly with Cooky suffering a double fracture but it did save us 3 points, happily Cooky started training at the end of the season. The emphasis was again on the SQUAD with Muzz starting to work shifts a massive loss for us after his early season form but that is why we needed numbers to turn up to games and training. We did progress off the field and on but again finished bottom ( Billingham Athletic resigning). Lav as leading goal scorer led the line well and finished 2nd highest scorer in Billingham. As a team we need to be more clinical and punish teams mistakes like they punish ours. For the first time we also produced a free match programme and developed to publishing it on-line

2014 / 2105

A NEW NAME‌ BILLINGHAM FC

Now

going into our 5th season we welcomed the 3rd group of young lads to come through from the juniors. Many have had a taste over the last couple of seasons on an ad-hoc basis and we will look to integrate them fully into the squad which I expect to be a little smaller this season but also a season wiser. The season turned out to be more about developments off the field than on. We introduced Beth Pounder to the management team in the closed season. Beth is a qualified Sports Scientist and will deal with players injuries and rehabilitation. Beth is also a former Billingham Junior. We held our 1st Golf day in August and this is now an annual event. We secured funding from the Teesside Philanthropic Society to enable us to buy training/ warm up kit for the whole squad. The press release featured in the Billingham Community News Paper and this led to a further grant from the Billingham Legacy Foundation which has enabled us to buy Rain jackets for the whole squad and 5 sub suits for the lads on the bench match days. Thanks to hard work by Ian Murray we have also retained RA DALTON as a sponsor of a new home kit (in the same style and colours as the juniors) and Klargester as new sponsors of our much needed away kit

On the pitch we continued to try and play a passing game, playing out from the back. After a good pre season we started reasonably well in the league but drawing games we really should have won, these lost points would come back at the end of the season to show in our final position. Our County cup game saw us host Ferryhill and a good performance saw us progress to the 1st round proper for the 1st time (another small landmark) and travel to Murton. A game on reflection we could have won but ended up going down 4-3. The end of the season was scrappy and when the U18’s folded some of the lads joined the squad, maybe a year early having had the past years experience but non the less they were welcomed into the squad.

Another game against a team that I think will finish in the top 6 and again we passed the ball well and for 30 minutes defended well. We were put under a lot of pressure at the back from a lot of long balls and for 25 minutes we dealt with the threat. We really need to learn that going a goal behind does not mean GAME OVER.I don’t think as a team we believed that. Whilst this was one of our “free games”... (The squad will understand that). I think with more belief we could have got something out of the game. With 10 minutes to go and 4-0 down I would have been happy with our overall performance and could have accepted the result but to then concede 3 goals in the last 5-10 minutes is not acceptable and we must show some pride in the final score and ensure if we are going to be beaten then the score line reflects our performance. Thanks to some hard work by club captain Marc Brocklesby we have entered into a partnership with K Home International who have agreed to sponsor our rain jackets for 3 seasons. I’d like to thank them for their support and welcome them to the club and hope they enjoy their time working with us. Today we also start a new partnership with The King Arms, after 3 seasons at The Whitehouse, who will now provide our after match hospitality. Dionne and her staff have given us a warm welcome and the partnership will also help the team financially and provide us with a lively base to work from. Today we welcome Cargo Fleet to Northfield, a fellow division 2 side from last year and a team who like ourselves have found the early games difficult with the squad starting to return from injury and holidays lest see where the rest of the season takes us starting today!

Hamstring Strain Injury Management Firstly, the hamstring muscle is made up of three individual muscles, the semi-membranosus, semi-tendinosus and biceps femoris, any one of these muscles can be affected. A common mechanism of injury for hamstring strains usually involve sprinting to which the head of the bicep femoris muscle at the lower end of the thigh is strained. There are three grades of hamstring strain based on how severe the injury is: Grade 1: Slight tear to some fibres of the muscle (Tightness in the back of the thigh but can walk normally, they will be aware of some discomfort and will be unable to run at their full speed) Grade 2: Partial tear to the hamstring muscles (The athletes walking gait will be affected, usually with a limp, pain will be present during activity and swelling will also be noticeable) Grade 3: Full rupture of the muscle or severe strain (A tear to half or all of the muscle, the athlete will need crutches, may have severe pain and swelling and weakness in the muscle. Bruising will usually appear 24 hours after the occurrence of the injury) Initial Management For the first 24 hours the PRICE Protocol should be followed. Protection, rest, ice every hour for 10-15 minutes combined with compression and elevation, this will help reduce pain, swelling and minimise bleeding in the muscle. After the first day Ice should be applied every 2 to 3 hours for 10-15 minutes at a time. Later‌ After the Initial management, stretching and strengthening rehabilitation programmes should be followed. Stretching exercises include raising the leg straight above your head and holding for 8 to 10 seconds at a time and performing this 3 times, each time the flexibility of the individual should increase and the leg will go further. Isometric contraction exercises are good for strengthening the hamstrings; this means holding a position for a short period of time, for example holding the lunge position is a perfect example of an isometric contraction to strengthen the hamstrings. Rehabilitation programmes should be made specific to each individual and should be advised by a professional.

This season following te merging of the two divisions every team will play each other once. The division will then split in two, the bottom 10 will then play in their own division and the top 9 in their’s. The team finishing in the bottom 10 cannot finish higher than 10th despite the number of points they attain by the end of the season.

AMAZING !!! Our Programme averaged 72 reads per issue, even more suprising was where it was read! The vast majority as expected were read by people in the UK (I’m guessing Teesside) but our programme was also read overseas in 17 other countries. The table to the right shows where and how many reads from each country. About Me - All Figured Out?

It's crazy how you think you've got it all figured out one day, then the next it's completely wrong and irrelevant. It's crazy how your emotions can flip from one spectrum to the other within a matter of seconds. I often wonder what every day brings, the journey of being alive is different. We all have the same starting point, but have our own finish line. The beauty of this life is that we don't know what will happen next. The world is a unique place where nothing is perfect. We consider celebrities to be something to idolise when really, they are just the same as you and I. You believe that their lives are all figured out, but are they? They might have the money and cars but it doesn't necessarily mean that they've got it all. What I'm trying to say is that I base my life on being different, following the crowd doesn't make you cool, it makes you a member of cattle. Being yourself brings you friendship, it brings you the things you desire, Working hard isn't a chore it's a drive to succeed. One of my favourite verses is from Big Sean's All Figured out - Hence the Title. The verse doesn't represent me, it represents desire and 41 working hard. I don't really think about being wise, I just believe that if you wake up happy you will die happy.
