We are finally starting to see the Billingham FC that the management know we have. The County Trophy game against Durham Alliance opposition Ferryhill Town saw us dig deep into our squad. With no disrespect to the lads who played in the cup game, few of them had been in previous starting 11’s. Seven players away through work or wedding duties meant we saw how deep our squad is. We were not disappointed! The starting 11 on the day played with confidence and in the whole to the style we are trying to establish which shows we now have a solid base to build upon. The lads started well and looked comfortable in the 1st 10 minutes with Lav putting us in front. We played well and had a good shape about us and We were disappointed that we conceded 11 minutes later. Playing well Swanny put us in front 2 minutes before half time. With several players starting the game with injuries we had to make changes but again the lads replacing them knew the system and what was expected.3 goals in the 2nd half, 2 from Ryan Chan saw us see the game out but this was made possible the way we used the football and the size of the pitch. Adam Johnson was again excellent putting in another solid performance along with a good showing from the back 3. In general a solid performance which as previously stated shows a depth of squad not only in quality of the individuals but in their understanding of what we are trying to achieve. We now have several formations which the squad are happy with and players can fit into. Now we need to focus on the league, which as a management team we do with optimism IF we play the way we (the managers) know we can. Guisborough Globe have always proved to be a hard team for us but a team we have always played well against. We need to continue with the performance but need to turn the performances into results. As said in previous programmes WILL THE REAL BILLINGHAM FC PLEASE STEP UP!!

BLUES!!!!!! A CHARTER STANDARD DEVELOPMENT CLUB
5
2010 / 2011 The Intermediates founded when former U18 manager and BTJFC Secretary Peter Cooper and John Swanson came together to put together an adult team for the junior section. Both agreed that the Teesside league would be a good challenge and both had the same vision, to have a team where the players from the junior section could stay with the club once they had finished their junior football. The first season proved difficult on many levels; 42 players coming and going, organising a strip and pitches and most significantly the devastating death of Peter in October 2010. Ian Murray then the U18 manager joined the management team. A difficult season saw only 1 win in29 games... but the basis of a squad to go into the next season, and true to the philosophy that Peter had held, the majority had been former Junior players. 2011 / 2012 With a core of lads from the previous season and some of Ian's former U18 lads, the season looked to be full of promise, however the step up for the new lads and trying to gel the squads together saw the season start off where it finished the previous season, winless, however the results were encouraging. Once the team had it's first win under it's belt it went on an unbeaten run of 8 games. With the odd win/draw towards the end of the season...the results did not reflect the performances. The team had now started to develop a style of it's own, playing some attractive football, the highlight of the season had to be away to Northallerton Academy 2-0 down at half time, Town outplayed Northallerton to win 3-2 playing some great football, showing great character and both starting and finishing with10 former Junior players... the foundation well and truly in place. Thanks to the hard work of Ian The team got new strips through a sponsorship agreement with RA DALTON. whose support is still much appreciated. 2012 / 2013 A more settled squad started the season playing a good style of football however a string of long term injuries to key players disrupted the season. Again the squad struggled for points and goals but the last 9 games of the season saw a more settled team start to play the football it promised early on. The highlight being the 2-1 win at Lingdale the first team to defeat champions (1 of only 2 clubs to do it) The season again saw progress both on and off the pitch with the addition to the coaching staff of goalkeeping coach Peter Laverick.
The squad has 25 former junior players out of the 32 signed on continuing the philosophy that the team was set up to fulfil 2013 / 2014 We started the season at a new ground, Northfield sportsdrome and now have the support of the Whitehouse Pub who provide after match refreshments …… Massive thanks !!! Our Football continued to go from the ridiculous to the sublime, some great moves and goals but games where we fell apart in sections of the game and got punished. This will happen with a young team but in the coming season we will look for those players now in their 5th season, even though they are still young, to step up to the plate. The season started off badly with Cooky suffering a double fracture but it did save us 3 points, happily Cooky started training at the end of the season. The emphasis was again on the SQUAD with Muzz starting to work shifts a massive loss for us after his early season form but that is why we needed numbers to turn up to games and training. We did progress off the field and on but again finished bottom ( Billingham Athletic resigning). Lav as leading goal scorer led the line well and finished 2nd highest scorer in Billingham behind Ash Lavan. As a team we need to be more clinical and punish teams mistakes like they punish ours. For the first time we also produced a free match programme and developed to publishing it on-line 2014/2105
A NEW NAME…….. BILLINGHAM FC
Now going into our 5th season we welcome the 3rd group of young lads to come through from the juniors. Many have had a taste over the last couple of seasons on an ad-hoc basis and we will look to integrate them fully into the squad which I expect to be a little smaller this season but also a season wiser. We have introduced Beth Pounder to the management team in the closed season. Beth is a qualified Sports Scientist and will deal with players injuries and rehabilitation. Beth is also a former Billingham Junior Let’s see what this season brings!!!

Anatomy of the Knee and Common Injuries
The knee is one of the largest and most complex joints in the body.
The knee joins the thigh bone (femur) to the shin bone (tibia). The smaller bone that runs alongside the tibia (fibula) and the kneecap (patella) are the other bones that make the knee joint. Tendons connect the knee bones to the leg muscles that move the knee joint. Ligaments join the knee bones and provide stability to the knee: • The anterior cruciate ligament prevents the femur from sliding backward on the tibia (or the tibia sliding forward on the femur). • The posterior cruciate ligament prevents the femur from sliding forward on the tibia (or the tibia from sliding backward on the femur). The medial and lateral collateral ligaments prevent the femur from sliding side to side. Two C-shaped pieces of cartilage called the medial and lateral menisci act as shock absorbers between the femur and tibia. Numerous bursae, or fluid-filled sacs, help the knee move smoothly. Muscles that support the knee include the hamstring muscle group which includes the semitendinosus, semimembranosus and bicep femoris. The quadriceps muscle group comprises of four muscles, the vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius and the rectus femoris; as well as the gastrocnemius also known as the calf. The club October FUNdraiser is a Magician and Hypnotist night along with pie and peas, GREAT value at ÂŁ10 and as ever will have the Billingham Juniors touch which always makes it special. The evening will be held at the Swan on October the 17th and will start at 7:30.... Tickets are available from managers coaches and team managers. Teams were in county cup/league cup action across the weekend and in general did well. These games spread our club philosophy beyond our normal borders and enable the lads to meet different teams from different leagues... A great experience but we as managers/ coaches have to say a massive thanks to the parents who give more time than normal and use their petrol to enable the teams to compete. Our thought go to the young lad in our U18 squad who suffered a serious injury whilst on Billingham Juniors FC duty and we all wish him a speedy recovery
We have developed relationships through friendlies and county cup games across the North East in particular Birtley St Josephs, Whickham SC, Coxhoe Athletic and Redcar Athletic. This Year we had friendlies against Bishop Auckland Res, Annfield Plain, and Hartlepool FC As a management team we see this as part of the squads development on and off the field. The teams play in the following leagues‌ this is their news
