Last game of the season and we welcome Cargo Fleet to the Sportsdrome. It’s only two weeks ago since we were at their place and the visit saw us play our best football of the full season. Last week was, as they say, “A funy old game!. Cooky scored 4 goals and was still on the losing side, we played some fantastic football and generally had a good shape about the team. Defending the long ball, something we’re normally pretty good at caused us a problem and we created tier goals through our mistakes. To lose 4-6, play so well but concede 6 is still hard to take. The end of the season sees us finish bottom again, following the resignation of Guisborough Globe ( 4 points and 7 goals off our record) but I have to say again it shows what great character our lads show. The last 4 weeks we have had 16+ at training and games and again we have fulfilled all our fixtures. This season saw us have a good pre season and a good start to the year, however we fell away mid season caused by some long term injuries, work and other commitments. The end of the season especially we finished playing some great football with a good turn out. If we can keep together and have another solid pre season then I think we will again improve next year and hopefully we can improve our league position. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Ian, Pete and Beth for all their help, support and commitment throughout the year, without them there would be no team as I couldn't do it on my own. Finally I would like to thank the businesses and organisations featured in the programme for helping us move forward off the field
THANK YOU & SEE YOU NEXT SEASON COME ON BLUES !!!!
A CHARTER STANDARD DEVELOPMENT CLUB
5
2010 / 2011
The Intermediates founded when former U18 manager and BTJFC Secretary Peter Cooper and John Swanson came together to put together an adult team for the junior section. Both agreed that the Teesside league would be a good challenge and both had the same vision, to have a team where the players from the junior section could stay with the club once they had finished their junior football. The first season proved difficult on many levels; 42 players coming and going, organising a strip and pitches and most significantly the devastating death of Peter in October 2010. Ian Murray then the U18 manager joined the management team. A difficult season saw only 1 win in29 games... but the basis of a squad to go into the next season, and true to the philosophy that Peter had held, the majority had been former Junior players. 2011 / 2012
With a core of lads from the previous season and some of Ian's former U18 lads, the season looked to be full of promise, however the step up for the new lads and trying to gel the squads together saw the season start off where it finished the previous season, winless, however the results were encouraging. Once the team had it's first win under it's belt it went on an unbeaten run of 8 games. With the odd win/draw towards the end of the season...the results did not reflect the performances. The team had now started to develop a style of it's own, playing some attractive football, the highlight of the season had to be away to Northallerton Academy 2-0 down at half time, Town outplayed Northallerton to win 3-2 playing some great football, showing great character and both starting and finishing with 10 former Junior players... the foundation well and truly in place. Thanks to the hard work of Ian The team got new strips through a sponsorship agreement with RA DALTON. whose support is still much appreciated. 2012 / 2013
A more settled squad started the season playing a good style of football however a string of long term injuries to key players disrupted the season. Again the squad struggled for points and goals but the last 9 games of the season saw a more settled team start to play the football it promised early on. The highlight being the 2-1 win at Lingdale the first team to defeat champions (1 of only 2 clubs to do it) The season again saw progress both on and off the pitch with the addition to the coaching staff of goalkeeping coach Peter Laverick.
The squad has 25 former junior players out of the 32 signed on continuing the philosophy that the team was set up to fulfil 2013 / 2014
We
started the season at a new ground, Northfield sportsdrome and now have the support of the Whitehouse Pub who provide after match refreshments …… Massive thanks !!! Our Football continued to go from the ridiculous to the sublime, some great moves and goals but games where we fell apart in sections of the game and got punished. This will happen with a young team but in the coming season we will look for those players now in their 5th season, even though they are still young, to step up to the plate. The season started off badly with Cooky suffering a double fracture but it did save us 3 points, happily Cooky started training at the end of the season. The emphasis was again on the SQUAD with Muzz starting to work shifts a massive loss for us after his early season form but that is why we needed numbers to turn up to games and training. We did progress off the field and on but again finished bottom ( Billingham Athletic resigning). Lav as leading goal scorer led the line well and finished 2nd highest scorer in Billingham behind Ash Lavan. As a team we need to be more clinical and punish teams mistakes like they punish ours. For the first time we also produced a free match programme and developed to publishing it on-line 2014/2105
A NEW NAME……..
BILLINGHAM FC
Now
going into our 5th season we welcome the 3rd group of young lads to come through from the juniors. Many have had a taste over the last couple of seasons on an ad-hoc basis and we will look to integrate them fully into the squad which I expect to be a little smaller this season but also a season wiser. We have introduced Beth Pounder to the management team in the closed season. Beth is a qualified Sports Scientist and will deal with players injuries and rehabilitation. Beth is also a former Billingham Junior Let’s see what this season brings!!!

Each stretch should be a 20-30 second hold 3 sets of each stretch, in some cases when the leg need to be switched it would be 3 on each leg 3-4 times a week! Two Leg Hamstring Stretch 1. With both feet together and legs fully extended, reach forward with both hands towards your toes. 2. Tuck your chin towards your chest to increase the stretch. 3. Keep your toes pointed towards the sky.
Hamstring Split Stretch 1. Bending on one knee, extend the other leg out in front of you. 2. Reach with both hands towards your outstretched foot. 3. Keep your toes towards the sky and tuck your head to increase the stretch. Remember to breathe! 4. Repeat for the opposite side. Lying Quadriceps Stretch 1. Lying on one side grasp your ankle and pull your heel towards your buttocks. 2. Keep your back straight and the other leg bent. 3. Do not grab your foot. Grab just above the ankle joint (the bottom of your leg). 4. Keep the thigh in line with your body. To increase the stretch push your hips forward (only a slight movement). 5. Repeat for the opposite side.
Classic Quadriceps Stretch 1. Standing one leg, grab your opposite ankle and pull your heel into your buttocks. 2. Your bent knee should sty parallel with your standing leg rather then being pulled behind. 3. Push your hips out to increase the stretch and remember not to grab the ankle joint. 4. Repeat for the opposite side.
Standing Groin Stretch 1. Stand with your legs wider than shoulder width apart. 2. Shift your weight onto one side as you bend your knee. 3. Reach with one hand towards your outstretched foot. 4. You should feel the stretch right down the inside of your outstretched leg. 5. Repeat for the opposite side. Sitting Groin Stretch 1. Sit with knees bent at 90 degrees. 2. Place the soles of your feet together to 'splay' your knees outwards. 3. Gently use your hands or elbows to push your knees downwards.
1)Dirk Kuijt (29 goals in season 2004-05).
Lower Back Stretch 1. Sit with the legs straight out in front of you. 2. Bend the right knee so the sole of your foot is flat on the ground. 3. Turn your upper body towards your right knee and place your right hand on the floor for support. 4. Place your left forearm on the outside of your right knee and gently pull your knee towards you. 5. Resist with your knee and left hand to feel the tension in your lower back. 6. Repeat for the opposite side.
Standing Calf Stretch 1.Using a wall or bar to support you, place one leg outstretched behind you. 2. Keeping the other leg bent lean against the wall to apply pressure to your beg leg. 3. Make sure you keep your back heel flat on the ground. 4. Repeat for the opposite side.
Chest & Back Stretch 1. This stretch can be performed kneeling or standing. Take your boots off if you kneel. 2. Clasp your hands behind your back, keeping your arms as straight as possible. 3. Try to straighten your arms and raise them. 4. From this position bend forward from the waist also tucking your head towards your chest. 5. Hold this position for the recommended amount of time. Shoulder Stretch 1. Place one are outstretched across your chest. 2. Place the hand or forearm of your other arm on your outstretched elbow to apply pressure. 3. Gently pull your outstretched arm closer to your chest, keeping it as straight as possible.
Well done this season to all! We’ve done well in terms of injury throughout the team but there are some improvements to be made next season! Good luck with the stretching programme and see you all pre-season!

No Changes this week except to say thank you to everyone who participated in the Juniors Easter Raffle, winners are on the news page of the website. At our Sports dinner Chairman Lee Shackleton announced that the club has secured the Teesside partnership with AC Milan Summer Camps, a fantastic opportunity for our 7-15 yr olds. Our U11’s have clinched the title by at least 4 points a great achievement and they now look forward to Division 3 next season. Our U12 Lions narrowly missed out on the title after drawing away to eventual champions Leven, a fantastic effort in their 2nd season. The U12’s have sealed the championship with a game still to play, setting them up nicely for their trip to Holland. Our mini soccer sides have all performed well and are now firmly established and looking forward to our tournament and their next season. Our development squad has gone from strength to strength with one of our senior players, Dave Rowney preparing to take the team as their time with Development coach Jonny Flynn. Work is now well under way to prepare for the clubs presentation day and summer tournament and maybe the AC Milan Summer Camp. The Senior side are also well into planning their second club day with 24 people signed up from within the club, coaches parents etc.
We have developed relationships through friendlies and county cup games across the North East in particular Birtley St Josephs, Whickham SC,Coxhoe Athletic and Redcar Athletic. This Year we had friendlies against Bishop Auckland Res, Annfield Plain, and Hartlepool FC As a management team we see this as part of the squads development on and off the field. The teams play in the following leagues‌ this is their news Ebchester Consett Res
