Types of Wings
The wings of a bat are designed for precision flight in any situation. The wings are engineered for asymmetrical operation thus enabling the bat to fly, hover, turn 180 degrees mid-flight and even use the wings to catch insects mid-air in similar motion to human hands. The wings are modified in different species according to the food habits.

Bats around the world
The species of Bats found in Mumbai mostly consist of the Indian Flying Fox, which are fruit eating bats and roost on trees in large numbers, while flying to nearby fruit trees for food. These mostly reside in the green parts of the city like the gardens with large trees, the SGNP National Park and other greens in and around the city in large numbers.

Characteristics of Mumbai - Climate
Mumbai is characterised by its people. From the huge expanse created by one of the largest slums in the world to the skyscrapers of some of the richest people in the world. It’s a mixture of all religions and beliefs. With a population of 2.1 Million it has the highest population density in the world. The housing requirements for such a population can only be fulfilled by vertical development. Public Festivals

Characteristics of Mumbai - Buildings
With many ageing buildings in the city the govt. has introduced incentives for developers as well as owners and tenants in the city. Considering the need for more housing a system of free F.S.I. has been introduced so as to encourage redevelopment and creating more housing.
The study by the way of modelling started by creating a membrane structure inspired from the bat’s wings. After closer look at the bat’s wings and studying their refinement of structure a new approach was undertaken with the membrane structures. The membranes under tension were solidified and were released from tension. Just as the workings of a P.T. slab.
