A

WORD

FROM

YOUR

BULLETIN EDITOR

I’m so excited to be able to write my first post as your official 2015-2016 Bulletin Editor! It’s been such a learning experience so far, which is a lot to say considering it’s only been a couple weeks. But I’ve had an amazing governor to teach me everything I need and to answer all my constant questions. It’s a new year, which means new boards, new members, and new ideas. Though the school year has come to a close, this is just a beginning of our year of service! So do what you can and do what you love, and don’t forget to take pictures! Stay awesome, Banna Tesfay

A

WORD

FROM

YOUR

GOVERNOR

I am so honored and excited to serve you as Governor this year! Sometimes people think in an organization like this, you really cannot accomplish much, but if you had told me a year ago that I would be Governor, I would have said “...What does that mean?”. This all happened because of how inspired I was by my fellow Circle K-er’s passion for service. This year, let’s all let our passion inspire those around us. If every member in the mighty Southwest shares their genuine passion for service, we will draw in new members, foster long-lasting leadership, and create lifelong friendships. I have seen this passion in all of you that I met, so I know that the possibilities are endless. I know how strong you can be, now let’s show the world this year. Keep Shining, Ava Red

LEADERSHIP ACADEMY 2015 EXPLORE. ENGAGE. EVOLVE. What is Leadership Academy?

CKI Leadership Academy (LA) is an investment in the members of CKI. The six-day event is intense and focuses leadership based on servant leadership, which requires leaders to put the needs of others first, and to realize that no matter whether or not you have a title, there is always a need for service to one another and to the world. This program takes members of CKI through an adventure, starting with the CKI amazing race and ending with a plan in place to serve. The most unique part of the program—and what sets it apart from others—is that students and facilitators have an opportunity to do a service project during the program. ”At first I thought people didn’t tell you what happened at Leadership Academy because it is a mystery to try to get you to go,” says LA graduate Ava Red. “I thought when they said ‘LA changed my life’ it was just talking about your CKI life. But after I came back, I realized it wasn’t just about CKI and that people don’t tell you what happens at LA because there simply are no words for how unique and personal it is.”

Leadership Academy takes place Sunday, July 26, through Friday, July 31 at the Waycross Camp and Conference Center in Morgantown, Indiana.
