ince April 2018, Brookside and Old Town Neighbors has been invited into the homes of our community’s families to learn more about them, and getting to know each of our featured families has been a unique experience. From large families to empty-nesters, blended families, and extended ones, we’ve met families of all shapes and sizes.

Corporate employees, military personnel, medical professionals, teachers, stay-at-home mothers, single fathers, foster parents, entrepreneurs, small business owners, and more have shared details of their lives, the passions they pursue, the hobbies they enjoy, and what makes this community wonderful and special to them.

But it is really these families' love we have shared with our readers over the years. As the interviewer fortunate to meet with the families in person, and over the phone during COVID, I have sincerely enjoyed meeting with all these families, who are excited to talk about … well, themselves!

And I can con昀椀dently tell you that the families who grace the cover of our magazine have a lot of love to share.

This month is no exception. As we celebrate the love we have for our friends and family, it is a pleasure to introduce you to the Quinn family. This family of seven is a foster family and a small business owner whose business allows other families to spend quality time with their young children.

This issue also includes the history of Valentine’s Day, a review of what the day means to high school students, updates from our local wedding celebrants, a piece about connecting with your partner, expert contributor pieces, and information from our community. We hope you enjoy this issue and celebrate Valentine’s Day with the people you care about most.

For the Love of Home:

THE QUINN FAMILY

Before 2001, Dave Quinn was studying marine biology, but after living and serving a mission in Bulgaria for two years, including during the events of 9/11, his personal pursuits changed.

He watched the events of that day unfold from over 6,600 miles away. Experiencing September 11th from overseas left him a changed man.

He came home intent on doing his part to ensure another 9/11 never happened, so he changed his major to Homeland Security.

Misty Quinn was also a student at San Diego State. She majored in political science and minored in economics. She planned to pursue a law degree, but her priority was always having a family.

The two students met in their sophomore years. Dave had taken a two-year break for his mission and Misty transferred from the University of the Paci昀椀c. By graduation, they were married. Less than a year later, Misty was expecting their 昀椀rst child.

“We were two recent grads with a baby on the way and had bills to pay. Dave took the 昀椀rst job he was offered,” she said. Surprisingly, he has stayed in that job, in Federal Law Enforcement, for over 17 years.

“Dave had to complete training across the country when he accepted the job,” she recalls. “I moved back home with my parents for a few weeks. As my due date got closer, Dave was scheduled to come home to be there for the birth," she continued.

As luck would have it, Dayton, the couple’s 昀椀rst daughter,

arrived two weeks early. Dave may have missed her birth, but he witnessed her 昀椀rst steps. “I couldn’t believe it. I was a stay-at-home mother and always with my baby. That day, I needed to bring a friend to the hospital. Dave, who traveled all the time, just happened to be home and got to witness the 昀椀rst steps. I suppose it’s ok since he did miss her birth,” she jokes.

Four more children followed Dayton, who is now 17 and a junior at Kettle Run High School. Their youngest, Britain, is nine.

Dave’s job took the family across the country. They have made the 40-hour drive four times. “We moved to Warrenton originally 13 years ago and lived here for six years when we knew we needed to move back to California to support family. After one year, we realized that Fauquier had become home. It took us four more years to make it back here in 2021, though,” said Misty.

When the children were small, Dave traveled throughout the week, and Misty cared for the children. It was a job she was happy to have. “I love being a mother. There is no job I would rather have had than to be raising our children,” she said.

Part of her job requires careful attention to the interests and talents of her children. “The kids have pursued dance, cheer, gymnastics, swimming, music, and sports to varying degrees of enthusiasm. When interest fades, we support their move to

something else. When interest is intense, we support the increased demands of the activity,” she said.

Hunter, now 13, started gymnastics when she was two and has never looked back. She loves every aspect of the sport, which requires her to train six days a week and doesn’t allow her time to try other activities.

Paisley, 16, began swimming for a swim team as she pursued a love for the water, but when she realized she didn’t enjoy the competitive nature of the sport, she continued her passion by becoming a lifeguard and swim teacher.

Dayton took dance to a competitive level and inspired her youngest sister, Britain, to do the same. Gavin, 11, has played almost every sport in its season and is only beginning to discover where his talents lie, and Misty is more than willing to help him uncover them.

As the years move on and her children grow, Misty continues to 昀椀nd the joys of each stage. She believes that home and family are where growth and happiness come from. As her children grew out of the toddling stages and no children now wobble their way over to her, her desire to share her love with others grew.

To 昀椀ll this desire, she and Dave became Fauquier foster parents and opened their home to three young boys

for several weeks. One of the boys, who was only a few months old when he arrived with the Quinns, stayed for nearly a year. “It was a very dif昀椀cult yet ful昀椀lling experience, and the whole family struggled to see him leave,” she said.

For the past 昀椀ve years, Dave has been home more. Since transitioning to a position with less travel, he commutes to the of昀椀ce once or twice a week, and the rest of the time he works from a home of昀椀ce. While Dave enjoyed traveling the world and visiting new cities, he wasn’t there with the people he wanted to be with and is glad to be home with the family.

Last year, while talking with the owner of Lyrique Dance, April, Misty heard about an opportunity. “She told me she was considering expanding her business and she wished she could use some of the space to open something like Mila’s Playland [an indoor play yard for children] in Gainesville which had closed, that her children still spoke about.” April was too busy with the dance studio to take anything else on, but Misty seized her chance. “I had never heard of Mila’s since I lived in California at the time,” Misty said, but when her children were little, she took them over an hour away to small children’s museums regularly and dreamed of creating such a place. She wanted a place for families to make memories close to home.

In November 2023, Misty opened Believe: Imagination Station, a museum-style play space, in Vint Hill. The familyowned business gives families a place to spend time together and encourages interactive play to help young children’s imaginations grow.

Located in the same plaza as BRAG and Lyrique, the Quinn children help at the business when they aren’t tumbling, dancing, or engaged in other activities. It is truly a family-run business and has become the meeting place for their family as well as other families in the community. The Quinns continue to support the foster community as well with a Family Fun Night so the foster parent community can connect.

When the Quinns aren’t supporting their children in their activities and promoting their new business, these former West Coast residents are dreaming of the beach. “In Southern California, we could ride our bikes to the beach. We seek out sand, sun, and water whenever we can,” said Misty. Over the years, they have visited many of the beaches along the eastern shores. Florida and the Outer Banks are at the top of their list of favorites.

Wa ent is for We ings

auquier County is quickly becoming a premier destination for weddings in the DMV and Northern Virginia. Whether you come for the beautiful rural landscapes of Horse Country or the small-town charm of Old Town Warrenton, our vibrant and growing wedding community showcases the many ways our county has become such a fabulous and accessible romantic haven.

Old Town Warrenton and Fauquier County offer the best of rural and small-town life within easy reach of the DMV and Northern and Central Virginia, a close-in destination that’s a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city and a place where couples in love can plan the wedding of their dreams. Beautiful and lovingly operated venues abound for nearly any style, size, or budget, from our lovely intimate in-town facility at Ciao Bella Celebrations to scenic winery venues like Molon Lave or Three Fox Vineyards and spectacular historic locations such as Airlie or Poplar Springs. With very competitive pricing when compared to DC and Northern Virginia, our seasoned wedding professionals are ready to help you 昀椀nd the right place for anything from the smallest of elopements to a grand and lavish celebration.

These and other reasons help explain why our venue has seen a 20% increase in business over the past year, but the thing we enjoy most is the warmth and love couples receive from the community as we’re taking newlyweds for photos around Old Town. Sometimes we feel a bit like “traf昀椀c magnets,” but it’s a moment of joy for all every time someone honks and waves or opens a window to shout a friendly “Congratulations!” It’s a truly special moment when we escort a couple or family to Denim & Pearls or Black Bear for their intimate reception when Main Street is closed and a live musician is playing. The crowds are always so gracious and enthusiastic, and it's a thrill for the couple to be able to 昀氀ash a smile or take a moment to dance.

Old Town Warrenton is loaded with unique and beautiful photo backdrops, from the architecture of our courthouse to local landmarks like our famous neighbor’s Red Truck, to the color and artistry of Main Street’s newest You Are Home mural. Dozens of locally owned businesses are here to make your visit special, offering everything your wedding may need, from dresses and clothing to cakes and catering, 昀氀orals and décor, jewelers, photographers, and of course, all those amazing venues. You can even hire a one-of-a-kind vintage car for your arrival, photos, and sendoff from Camelot Classic Cars. Romantic rooftop dining is available at several of our 昀椀ne restaurants, and a spring evening on the patio of Claire’s at the Depot is an intimate and special experience not to be missed.

Weddings are even mentioned as part of Warrenton’s pre-WWII history, when it served as a mecca for the marriage-minded and couples came to “Warrenton’s Lover’s Lane” from all over. (Search “Warrenton weddings 1939” for the full story!) And speaking of history, we’ve been hosting

amazing intimate weddings in the courtyard of the Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail since 2018. We decided to develop our Little Wedding Chapel and Venue here because we’ve always found Warrenton and Fauquier County to be a “hidden gem” of the DMV and a place like nowhere else, where love is always worth celebrating.

Brachial Plexus Syndrome vs Carpal Tunnel: HOW CHIROPRACTIC CAN HELP

In today's fast-paced world, many individuals are experiencing discomfort and pain in their upper extremities. Two common conditions that can cause such issues are Brachial Plexus Syndrome and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. While these conditions may share some similarities, they have distinct causes and treatment approaches. Chiropractic care has emerged as an effective and drugfree option to alleviate the symptoms associated with both conditions.

Brachial Plexus Syndrome is a

condition that affects the network of nerves responsible for carrying signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. It occurs when the nerves in the brachial plexus region become compressed or damaged. This can result from trauma, such

as a car accident or sports injury, or from repetitive strain on the area. Common symptoms of Brachial Plexus Syndrome include pain, weakness, numbness, and tingling in the affected arm and hand.

On the other hand, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a condition that affects

the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand through a narrow passageway called the carpal tunnel. It occurs when the median nerve becomes compressed or squeezed due to swelling or in昀氀ammation of the surrounding tissues. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is often associated with repetitive hand and wrist movements, such as typing or using tools. Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome include pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in the thumb, index, middle, and half of

the ring 昀椀ngers.

While both conditions can cause similar symptoms, it is crucial to differentiate between them to ensure appropriate treatment. Chiropractic care offers a holistic approach to address the underlying causes of Brachial Plexus Syndrome and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Chiropractors are trained to assess the musculoskeletal system and identify any misalignments or dysfunctions that may contribute to nerve compression or irritation. Through manual adjustments, chiropractors can correct these misalignments and restore proper alignment in the spine and extremities. By doing so, they can alleviate pressure on the affected nerves and reduce pain and in昀氀ammation.

Additionally, chiropractors may incorporate other therapeutic modalities, such as ultrasound therapy, electrical stimulation, dry needling, and soft tissue manipulation, to further enhance the healing process. These treatments help to reduce in昀氀ammation, improve circulation, and promote tissue repair in the affected areas.

Furthermore, chiropractors often provide lifestyle and ergonomic recommendations to their patients. They may suggest modi昀椀cations to workstations, exercises to strengthen the muscles supporting the affected areas, and strategies to prevent further injury or strain.

It is important to note that chiropractic care is not a one-size昀椀ts-all solution. Each patient is unique, and treatment plans are tailored to their speci昀椀c needs. Chiropractors work in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and individualized care.

In conclusion, Brachial Plexus Syndrome and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome are two distinct conditions that can cause discomfort and pain in the upper extremities. Chiropractic care offers a drug-free and holistic approach to address the underlying causes of these conditions. By restoring proper alignment, reducing nerve compression, and providing supportive therapies, chiropractors can help individuals 昀椀nd relief and improve their overall well-being. If you are experiencing symptoms related to these conditions, it is advisable to consult with a quali昀椀ed chiropractor to determine the best course of action for your speci昀椀c situation.

Winter Skincare 101: EXPERT TIPS FOR BEATING DRY SKIN

As temperatures drop, your skin may be feeling the effects of winter's harsh conditions. To keep your skin healthy and hydrated, we are sharing 8 easy skincare tips:

1. Gentle Cleansing: Use a natural, nourishing oil cleanser to avoid stripping your skin of essential oils.

2. Hydration is Key: Moisturize regularly with a rich, non-comedogenic moisturizer to lock in moisture and create a protective barrier.

3. Warm, Not Hot Showers: Hot water can exacerbate dryness. Opt for warm showers and pat your skin dry instead of rubbing.

4. Exfoliate Occasionally: Remove dead skin cells with a gentle exfoliator, but don't overdo it – once or twice a week is plenty.

5. Humidify Your Space: Invest in a humidi昀椀er to add moisture to the air, helping your skin retain hydration.

6. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin from the inside out.

7. Protect with a mineral SPF: Don't forget the sunscreen, even in winter. UV rays can still damage your skin, contributing to dryness.

8. Choose the Right Fabrics: Opt for soft, breathable fabrics like cotton to minimize irritation.

Taking the time to invest in your daily skincare routine is a ritual that will bring a touch of joy to your daily self-care. Finding the perfect products for you should have you looking forward to washing your face every day!

IFINANCIAL FOCUS: Watch out for tax season scams

t’s that time of year when we do our taxes — but it’s also the same time that tax scammers go to work. What scams should you watch for? And how can you avoid being victimized?

Sadly, the list of scams is pretty long, including demands for payment or requests for “additional information” pertaining to your tax refund, in which the sender asks for your Social Security number and other personal information. These scam emails can look quite of昀椀cial, often incorporating the IRS logo. You might also receive scam text messages containing bogus links claiming to be the IRS website or an online “tool” that can help process your refund faster.

But keep these points in mind:

The IRS generally won’t contact you by phone and won’t contact you by email, text messages, or social

media channels to ask for personal or 昀椀nancial information. The IRS begins most correspondence to taxpayers through regular mail delivered by the U.S. Postal Service.

The IRS won’t call to demand you make an immediate payment through a prepaid debit card or wire transfer. If you owe taxes, the IRS generally will mail you a bill. And the IRS won’t threaten to bring in the police or another law enforcement group to arrest you for not paying your taxes.

In general, be extremely skeptical about any type of communication purporting to be from the IRS that sounds bullying or over-inquisitive — and certainly don’t give out any personal or 昀椀nancial information. But these fake messages aren’t the only tax-season scams out there. You might even receive a direct deposit from what appears to be the U.S. Treasury Department — but if you weren’t expecting it, something’s likely not right. This payment could be a sign that a fraudulent tax return was 昀椀led in your name, and it might be followed by a communication from a supposed IRS agent requesting this overpayment be sent to them. If this happens to you, you’ll want to contact the IRS right away, and you could also ask your bank to return the deposit to the government. Other scams don’t claim to originate directly from the IRS, as scammers pretend to be from real or imaginary tax organizations. For example, you could get a message from the Taxpayer Advocate Service, an independent organization within the IRS, but this agency won’t contact you without a legitimate reason. Or you could receive a message from the nonexistent “Bureau of Tax Enforcement.” Your best bet is to delete these messages immediately or send them to your spam folder. Not all tax season scams originate from fraudulent IRS representatives or fake agencies. You also need to be careful about whom you hire to prepare your taxes. If possible, get a recommendation from a trusted friend or family member. And keep in mind that a legitimate tax preparer must have a valid Preparer Tax Identi昀椀cation Number and must sign your tax return. If someone doesn’t have this number or is reluctant to sign your return, it may well be a sign that this individual is a “ghost preparer” who only wants to pocket your fee.

Tax scammers are, unfortunately, here to stay — but remaining vigilant can help you keep them from causing problems for you in this tax season and all the ones in the future.

Who was Saint Valentine and how did he come to inspire Valentine's Day?

In the early martyrologies, three different St. Valentines are mentioned, all sharing Feb. 14 for a feast day. Unfortunately, the historical record is sparse. The 昀椀rst St. Valentine was a priest and physician in Rome. He along with St. Marius and his family comforted the martyrs during the persecution of Emperor Claudius II, the Goth. Eventually, St. Valentine was also arrested, condemned to death for his faith, beaten with clubs, and 昀椀nally beheaded on Feb. 14, AD 270. He was buried on the Flaminian Way. Later, Pope Julius I (333-356) built a basilica at the site which preserved St. Valentine's tomb. Archeological digs in the 1500s and 1800s have found evidence of the tomb of St. Valentine. However, in the thirteenth century, his relics were transferred to the Church of Saint Praxedes near the Basilica of St. Mary Major, where they remain today. Also, a small church was built near the Flaminian Gate of Rome which is now known as the Porta del Popolo but was called in the 12th century "the Gate of St. Valentine," as noted by the early British historian William Somerset (also known as William of Malmesbury, d. 1143), who ranks after St. Bede in authority.

The second St. Valentine was the Bishop of Interamna (now Terni,

Best Version Media

The History of St. Valentine

located about 60 miles from Rome). Under the orders of Prefect Placidus, he too was arrested, scourged, and decapitated, again suffering persecution during the time of Emperor Claudius II.

The third St. Valentine suffered martyrdom in Africa with several companions. However, nothing further is known about this saint. In all, these men, each named St. Valentine, showed heroic love for the Lord and His Church.

The popular customs of showing love and affection on St. Valentine's Day is almost a coincidence with the feast day of the saint: During the Medieval Age, a common belief in England and France was that birds began to pair on Feb.14, "half-way through the second month of the year." Chaucer wrote in his "Parliament of Foules" (in Old English): "For this was on Seynt Valentyne's day, When every foul cometh ther to choose his mate." For this reason, the day was dedicated to "lovers" and prompted the sending of letters, gifts, or other signs of affection.

Another literary example of St. Valentine's Day remembrances is found in Dame Elizabeth Brews "Paston Letters" (1477), where she writes to the suitor, John Paston, of her daughter, Margery: "And, cousin mine, upon Monday is St. Valentine's day and every bird chooseth himself a mate, and if it like you to come on Thursday night, and make provision that you may abide till then, I trust to God that ye shall speak to my husband and I shall pray that we may bring the matter to a conclusion." In turn, Margery wrote to John: "Unto my right well beloved Valentine John Paston, Squyer, be this bill delivered. Right reverend and worshipful and my right well beloved Valentine, I recommend me unto you, full heartily desiring to hear of your welfare, which I beseech Almighty God long for to preserve until His pleasure and your

heart's desire." While speaking of the amorous 昀氀avor of Valentine's Day, no mention is made of the saint. While it seems that the exchange of "valentines" is more the result of secular custom rather than the memory of St. Valentine, and that the celebration has been further paganized with cupids and the like, there is a Christian message that should be remembered. The love of our Lord, depicted beautifully in the image of His most Sacred Heart, is a sacri昀椀cial, self-less, and unconditional love. Such is the love that each Christian is called to express in his own life, for God and neighbor. Clearly, St. Valentine no matter which one showed such a love, bearing witness to the faith in his dedication as a priest and in the offering of his own life in martyrdom. On this Valentine's day, looking to the example of this great saint, each person should offer again his love to the Lord, for only by doing so can he properly love those who are entrusted to his care and any other neighbor. Each person should again pledge his love to those loved ones, praying for their intentions, promising 昀椀delity to them, and thanking them for their love in return. Never forget Jesus said, "This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you. There is no greater love than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends" (Jn 15:12-13). St. Valentine ful昀椀lled this command, and may we do the same.

Valentine's Day can be different for everyone. It can be a day of celebrating the amazing people you admire, whether your parents, partner, friends, siblings, or pets. Love surrounds us. On the other hand, it can also be the day when the candy is heart-shaped and restaurants are busy.

What does Valentine’s Day mean to you?

“Valentine’s Day means not romantic love, but loving your friends," says one sixteen-yearold boy. Being in love platonically is the most wholesome form of love. Building strong connections with admirable people who you get to choose to love can be a very rewarding experience.

When asked what February 14 meant to them, 44% said it meant nothing. “It means the next day the candy is half off.” Some people can see Valentine’s Day as simply a commercial holiday. “It does not mean anything; it used to, but now it is just a holiday to be a holiday," says one twenty-three-year-old.

Valentine’s Day can be seen as a way for stores to receive more money by making customers believe that love has to be bought with sweet confectionery chocolates and fuzzy stuffed animals. “You should be getting pampered every day," says a teacher.

Valentine’s Day can also be the day that you celebrate love. One person said, "It's just another day to show friends and family that I care. "Personally, my family always gave each other cards and candy, so we always had a Valentine. Now, I can share the love that my parents taught me with the people I love.

Sharing cute little Valentines with peers and classmates is one of many wonderful ways I contribute love to other people's lives. A simple reminder to people that you love them can enrich their happiness.

One seventeen-year-old said, “I think it is about sharing love and telling people you love them. It is like love’s birthday.” On your birthday, the people you love get to come together to celebrate another year with you. People can celebrate with a delicious cake, fun presents, and colorful decorations. On love’s birthday, you get to celebrate all the people that you love with similar things. You get to celebrate with heart-shaped desserts, beautiful 昀氀owers, and heart-shaped decorations. Valentine's Day should be a celebration. “A day to show people you care about them," says one student.

Love should be a celebration, whether you celebrate the person you are married to, the person you are dating, the people you are friends with, and more. Celebrate different languages of love with words, gifts, acts of service, or spending quality time with people you love.

Love is an intense feeling of deep affection. Showing love and affection can spread warmth and joy to humanity. Having love in the world is a wonderful thing. Make sure that you tell the people in your life that you cherish them. Think about what Valentine's Day means to you.

AKettle Run DECA Sweeps at Districts; Several Members Headed to States

fter a rainy morning, a two-hour delay, and a broken down bus, Kettle Run DECA (formerly Distributive Education Clubs of America) 昀椀nally arrived at the District 9 Competition. Held in early January each year at Apple Blossom Mall in Winchester, this event kicks off the DECA competition season.

With a whopping 5,300 chapters and 253,000 members, DECA is one of the biggest clubs in the country. It is the national association for students and teachers of marketing, management, and entrepreneurship.

This club takes information taught in the classroom and brings it to life, which results in a strong program that produces college- and career-ready students. Through DECA, members gain skills they can apply to the real world. The club is centered around marketing, 昀椀nance, hospitality, entrepreneurship, and management. Within each one of these “career clusters," there are 59 different

competitive events available. These events can be team, individual, project, online, or Virginia-only. At the district level, members can only compete in individual and Virginia-only events.

Twenty-six Kettle Run DECA members signed up to compete. These competitive events consist of a 100-question multiple choice tests and either one or two role-plays. The multiple choice test is speci昀椀c to each category, and is taken online at Kettle Run a month before the district competition. The role-plays are done in person at the district competition. In a role-play, members are given a speci昀椀c real-world scenario based on a business situation. In ten minutes, they must 昀椀nd a solution, make a plan, and prepare what to say. After the time is up, members have another ten minutes to present their 昀椀ndings to a judge. The role-plays are important as they make up two-thirds of the overall score.

After all of the District 9 DECA competitors 昀椀nish, the scores are tallied up. Awards are held on a small stage in the middle of the mall. In each event, the top four competitors in the test, 昀椀rst role-play, and second roleplay are called on stage and recognized. Then, the top four competitors for each event overall are announced. These members have the opportunity to compete at the State Leadership Conference. This year, it is being held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center from March 1-3.

Of Kettle Run DECA’s 26 competitors, 12 are advancing to the state competition. This includes Mandy Holmes, the writer of this article, and Logan Lambert, who placed 昀椀rst overall in their respective events; Juliana Best, Maria Gaytan, Dayton Quinn (from the feature family this month), and Nathaniel Borgstrom, who placed second overall; Allegra Craft, Jacob Steinburg, and Katy Burleson, who placed third overall; and Julien Perry, Aaron Sullivan, and Sophia Peterson, who placed fourth overall. Along with these students, the following members were recognized for being top four in either testing or the role-plays: Avery Clarke, Laine Clarke, Adrian Conte, Trent DeRosa, Jon Olsen, Aiden Pickett, and Madelyn Ramage. These students have the option to compete in a team event or project if they still wish to compete at the State Leadership Conference.

Congratulations to all competitors! We wish them the best of luck next month in Virginia Beach!

Low on energy or feeling depleted? Try this hydrating and refreshing Electrolyte Water recipe.

When we are burned out or stressed, our bodies burn through mineral and nutrient stores much faster. This beverage can help replenish and support your body through these transitional times.

We chose Himalayan pink salt as it can also help detoxify the body and soften the skin. It also contains a unique combo of minerals, including magnesium, calcium, and potassium, that help to stimulate circulation and detoxify the body. By helping to 昀氀ush out toxins, it can reduce puf昀椀ness and support healthy skin.

Raw honey not only improves digestion and strengthens the immune system it keeps your body hydrated and promotes that healthy glow.

Fresh lemon juice also aids in digestion, reduces in昀氀ammation in the body, and gives your immune system a boost—yes, all supporting healthy, glowing skin!

When choosing sparkling water, we always choose bottles in glass over cans, as aluminum has been linked to some diseases, so we just avoid it whenever possible.

Fun fact: staying hydrated and 昀氀ushing toxins from your body can help reduce dark circles under the eyes.

Ingredients:

6 1 lemon juiced

6 1 pinch pink Himalayan salt

6 1/4 cup warm water (hot water will kill the enzymes in the honey)

6 1 tbsp raw honey (local if possible)

6 8-10 oz. sparkling water

6 (Optional) 1 scoop of grass-fed, un昀氀avored collagen (we choose Live Conscious)

HOW TO:

Place your honey in a heat-safe jar, add your salt (and collagen if using), and pour the warm water over. Stir to dissolve.

Add in your lemon juice and top off with sparkling water. ENJOY!
