Theatre continues

A handful of our area theatrical venues stay up and running during the summer. So, don’t get discouraged, there are still some opportunities to see live theatre during the summer. In Fort Myers, Laboratory Theater of Florida presents Whatever Happened to Baby Jane: A Parody of the Horror June 16 through July 15. The Broadway Palm has us all guessing the outcome with Clue the Musical on stage now through June 24. Just a few days later, Mary Poppins will open June 29 and run through Aug. 12 at the Broadway Palm in Fort Myers. In the Off Broadway Palm Theatre, audiences will stay laughing with the performances of Right Bed, Wrong Husband. This show plays June 15 through July 29. The Naples Players will perform Sister Act at the Sugden Theatre. The show opens June 29 and plays through July 30. In Cape Coral, Cultural Park Theater will pay tribute to local theatre by holding its fifth annual Marquee Awards on June 10. Of course, we can’t forget the non-stop, year-round fun aboard the Murder Mystery Dinner Train from Seminole Gulf Railway in Fort Myers. Looking ahead, we are sharing some more 2017-18 theatre seasons in this month’s magazine. In this issue, look for the new schedules for Gulfshore Playhouse in Naples, Florida Repertory Theatre, Laboratory Theater of Florida, Broadway Palm and the Off Broadway Palm Theatre. We will share more future schedules in the coming months.

Songwriters galore

To get us primed for the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest this fall, my wife and I traveled to Key West in early May for the annual Key West Songwriters Festival. We were fortunate to see some of the songwriters who have been to Southwest Florida for Island Hopper, but we also got to hear some artists we had not seen before. In all, the Key West Songwriters Festival boasts 200 plus performers, more than 50 shows over five days. Pretty impressive ... to say the least. But, they have been doing it for 22 years. Hats off to Charlie Bauer at Smokin Tuna Saloon in Key West, BMI and the whole festival team. Before our local festival was launched in 2014, organizers sat down with the Key West festival folks and got some great ideas. Meanwhile, the fourth annual Island Hopper Songwriter Fest will be Sept. 22 through Oct. 1 on Captiva, downtown Fort Myers and on Fort Myers Beach. Mark your calendars so you don’t miss it.

More theme cruises

Last month, we told you about the 70s Rock and Romance Cruise that sails again in March of 2018. Well, this month, we are featuring four more theme cruises from the same cruise organizers. In this issue, you can read about the artists and experiences for the 2018 sailings of the Southern Rock Cruise, the Country Music Cruise, the Soul Train Cruise and the Flower Power Cruise. We have teamed up again with organizers StarVista Live on all five cruises. When you use the promo code “Happenings” on the phone or online to book your cruise, you have the opportunity to save hundreds of dollars on select cabins. Rock on ....

Sister Act opens June 29 in Naples The Naples Players present their summer spectacular Sister Act the Musical. This feel-great musical comedy is filled with powerful gospel music, rich loveable characters, outrageous dancing and a truly moving story that will leave audiences raising their voices to sing along well into the fall. This inspiring show’s hymnal is by Tony and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors) and was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical. Directed and choreographed with the creative, upbeat stylings of Dawn Lebrecht-Fornara, and accompanied by a full orchestra led by Charles Fornara, TNP’s production of Sister Act the Musical has more than a prayer of being the runaway hit of the summer in Southwest Florida. “Sister Act is a sparkling tribute to the universal

power of friendship,” says TNP’s artistic director Bryce Alexander. “In this time of political conflict, this story of acceptance and devotion is not only a fitting community conversation, but also an uplifting and exciting escape into the music and emotions that defined a generation.” The sparkling story follows disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be a found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood. Sister Act’s cast of unforgettable characters includes Deloris Van Cartier (Jasmine Vizena) the feisty, strongwilled, larger than life character with moves, the haughty, well-spoken Mother Superior who is a stickler

for rules (played by local songstress Debi Guthery), the timid Sister Mary Robert who finds her voice (Erica Sample), the bubbly excitable Sister Mary Patrick (Gina Bucci), the confident chilled-out gangster Curtis (Bret Poulter) and many more. Sister Act includes music by Alan Menken, book by Cheri Steinkellner & Bill Steinkellner, additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane, based on the Touchstone Pictures motion picture, Sister Act, written by Joseph Howard. “Sister Act is a show that brings people of all ages together to enjoy the music and friendship which is the heart of the story,” says Alexander. Sister Act opens June 29, with performances through July 30 at the TNP’s Sugden Theater in Blackburn Hall, 701 5th Ave South, Naples. Performances will be Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $45 adults, $35 subscribers and $10 students & educators. Lab Theater starts summer with ‘Baby Jane’

The Laboratory Theater of Florida announces its upcoming ninth season starting summer 2017. This will also mark the first season that the theater will be performing in its permanent home, as the theater is in the process of purchasing the building it has been occupying for the last six years. “We are thrilled about this upcoming season which has something for everyone,” says artistic director Annette Trossbach. “We have several brand new shows as well as some well-known audience favorites. As usual, we will have plenty of community outreach events connected to our shows. And, in December, look forward to our expanded education program.” The summer kicks off with the production of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane: A Parody of the Horror by Dale Gutzman. The show will open June 16 with performances through July 15. Making its Southwest Florida premiere, many are familiar with the 1962 over-the-top, camp-filled dark comedy cult-classic movie starring Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. Set in a run-down mansion in the Hollywood hills, two sisters attempt to live out their daily existence amid constant torment and despair. The second of the summer shows will be The Smell of the Kill by Michele Lowe. It will be presented Aug. 4 – 26. Every month, three wives meet in one of their homes while their husbands (old college friends) hang out. Each woman is experiencing her own version of marital issues – financial, sexual, emotional – and each is considering divorce. Though typically nothing more than a gripe-and-moan session, this month's gathering sees something different...the men have accidentally locked themselves in the meat locker downstairs. Laboratory Theater’s regular 2017-18 season:

Sordid Lives By Del Shores • Sept. 15-30 Set in a small Texas town, a family gathers to deal with the death of their elderly matriarch, made more difficult by the fact that the details of her demise are sure to cause embarrassment from the townsfolk, but the family members themselves give reason enough for embarrassment, as we see them at both their best and their worst (think big hair, lots of booze, cheating, revenge, cross-dressing, and guns)! Loosely based on the playwright's own life.

Bill Bynum & Co, 2PM, Randy Thomas AMERICANA COMMUNITY MUSIC ASSOCIATION

The Americana Community Music Association kicks off the month with Bill Bynum & Co. in concert on June 3. Although a Detroit native, Bill’s musical roots are in the South. His parents migrated from Black Oak, Arkansas to work in Detroit’s steel industry in the 1940s, bringing—like many others—their love for bluegrass and country music. Bill grew up listening to artists like Johnny Cash and Buck Owens on Detroit’s country radio station, “The Big D.” Detroit rock drove Bill’s early musical career. But in 1999, Bill turned on the radio and heard “Yours Forever Blue” by Steve Earle and the Del McCoury Band. From that moment on he found himself with a “nonstop desire to hear and play those songs.” Soon he was writing them too. Bill is a firstprize winner in the Metro Detroit Songwriting Showcase with his song “Lovin’ You.” He has collaborated with bluegrass legend Pete Goble, an International Bluegrass Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award winner. Bill lives for the joy of entertaining his audience. A true showman! With songs both traditional and original, and a sound that's at once as comfortable as old jeans and as fresh as a new blade of grass, Bill Bynum & Co. is a band that’s easy to love and hard to quit. The band’s core of rhythm guitar, fiddle, Dobro, bass and harmony vocals can lean into country, veer toward bluegrass, or take listeners on a unique journey through Bill’s original songs. ACMA member Paul Phillips opens the show. Paul Phillips trained musically, American Songbook, on a Hammond Organ, but switched to guitar in a Vermont college, where he was also introduced to Americana music, and folk music. Living on the South Shore of Boston, he was a high school literature teacher and then President of the teachers union. He played guitar pretty much every night in his cellar studio, and for friends at events and weddings; but not for the public. Retiring from union thuggery, he moved to Florida, where he found there are no cellars, and so began playing above ground in his home studio, at open mics, and at song circles in the Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda area; and joined ACMA at the suggestion of friends. The band 2PM will perform at the ACMA listening room on June 10. 2PM is Pete Price, Pete Hennings and Mike Jurgensen, a trio of talented musicians who blend their varied musical talents into an eclectic mix of material, from original songs to well-known standards, from Byrds and Dylan to country and western to contemporary folk. With Price on guitar and bass, Hennings on guitar, bass, mandolin, and violin, and Jurgensen on guitar and harmonica, these three performers combine tight instrumentation with pristine vocal harmonies to delight audiences of all musical tastes. All three are talented songwriters and have performed solo as well as with other bands: Hennings and Price with Jon Semmes and the Florida Friends, and Jurgensen and Hennings with Myriad. The combination of Pete, Pete and Mike as 2PM, however, is a unique trio that has delighted audiences at

Watermelon Festival Sheena Brook

June 2 - 4 at Fleamasters

Fleamasters’ Watermelon Festival celebrates the local watermelon crop with water-melon-themed activities, music, shopping, and plenty of old-fashioned, family-friendly entertainment. The summer harvest season celebration kicks off June 2, 3 and 4 with the 7th Annual Watermelon Festival at Fleamasters Fleamarket located at 4135 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Fort Myers. Enjoy free slices of sweet, local grown melon and purchase a melon or two to take home. The three-day event features live entertainment plus traditional watermelon competitions: Seed spitting and speed eating. For seed spitting and speed eating, medals, prizes and bragging rights will be awarded for each of three age groups: 10 and under, 11 to 16, 17 and over. “Last year, Fort Myers resident Brent Ray came within 4 feet, 2 inches of breaking the world seed spitting record,” said Linda Steele, Fleamasters marketing director. Brent propelled a tiny watermelon seed an amazing 71 feet at the 2016 Watermelon Festival. Top distance in the 11 to 16-year-old age group was set in 2015 at 28 feet, 3 inches. Twenty-five feet is the record to beat in the 10 and under age group. The world record for watermelon seed spitting was set in 1995 when Jason Schayot, a junior at Southwestern University, spit a watermelon seed 75 feet, 2 inches at the De Leon, Texas Peach and Melon Festival. He beat the previous P&M Festival record of 49 feet 1/4 inch and eclipsed the world record of 68 feet, 91/8 inches set by Lee Wheelis at the Luling, Texas Watermelon Thump in 1989. “If anyone at Fleamasters’ 2017 Watermelon Festival breaks Jason

Schayot’s world seed-spitting record, they’ll win $500 cash from Fleamasters Fleamarket,” Steele said. “We’re also bringing back ‘Minute to Win It,’ open to all ages, and our cow-milking con-test, for kids age 12-and-under,” Steele said. “‘Minute to Win It’ is a skill competition with watermelon seeds and chopsticks. Cow milking is not with a real cow. That would be messy. Our cow is wooden, but the mechanics are the same.” The Whispering Pines Clydesdales will be back, along with pony rides, a kid’s craft area, face painting, and the extraordinarily tall stilt walker Way Too Tall Torrie. A wide variety of entertainers are scheduled to perform, including The Dixielanders and Blue Dirt Dixie Strollers, The Entertainers, Mary Lou and Double Stop, guitarist Paul Cottrell, and violinist Laura Leary. Southwest Florida musical artist Sheena Brook, who recently appeared on NBC’s Season 12 of the Voice, will perform Sunday afternoon at the Watermelon Festival. Shop for crafts and decorative items, including jewelry, quilts, artwork, home decor, clothing, and innumerable other items. Fleamasters Fleamarket is open Friday 9 am to 3 pm, Saturday and Sunday 9 am to 5 pm, rain or shine. The market showcases hundreds of unique, owner-operated stores. If you have something to sell (especially if you’re an artist or crafter) Fleamasters’ Watermelon Festival is a great place to display your wares. Space starts at only $5 per day. Estimated weekend attendance is 15,000+ (historically based). Find info about Fleamasters Fleamarket and the Watermelon Festival at fleamall.com, or connect on Facebook for festival updates or call 239-334-7001.

Paul Shaffer and his band at Seminole Casino June 10

Jay Goldberg Events and Entertainment & It$ Not Ober Yet Productions present An Evening with Paul Shaffer & The World’s Most Dangerous Band at Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee on Saturday, June 10 at 8 p.m. Shaffer will be joined by special guest vocalist Valerie Simpson from Motown’s Ashford & Simpson. Doors open at 7 p.m. Best known for his 33 years as David Letterman's musical director and sidekick, Shaffer began his career in 1972 as musical director of the Toronto production of "Godspell." He played piano in "The Magic Show" on Broadway in 1974, then spent the next five years with the original "Saturday Night Live," where he played keyboards, composed special musical material and, in 1980, became a featured performer. Shaffer collaborated with Gilda Radner on the songs for her Broadway show, in which he also appeared, and served as

musical director for the Blues Brothers – John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd – for their triple platinum album and national tour. His guest starring television appearances include “Ed”, “The Sopranos,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” and “How I Met Your Mother.” Valerie Simpson is half of the legendary songwriting/ performing/producing entity formerly known as Ashford & Simpson. Their award winning collaborations began four decades ago, with Simpson and her late husband Nick Ashford penning classic hits such as “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “You’re All I Need to Get By,” “Reach Out and Touch Somebody’s Hand,” “I’m Every Woman,” “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing,” “Solid,” “Your Precious Love,” “I Don’t Need No Doctor” and “Let’s Go Get Stoned.” Tickets are $75 at the casino cashier, at www.MoreInParadise.com and by phone at 1-800-ETIX. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older.

Headspace Promotions announced The Bacon Brothers, Kevin and Michael, will perform at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall at FSW on Saturday, June 3 at 8 p.m. The Bacon Brothers are anything but a typical rock band. Brothers Michael and Kevin Bacon, each accomplished in their own right, play gritty rock that is unapologetically unique and authentic. Their style can best be described by their first album title, Forosoco, a word describing the blend of folk, rock, soul, and country influences. Now, over 20 years later, The Bacon Brothers continue to impress audiences and critics with their soulful sound and their latest offering of Americana 36 Cents.

The Bacon Brothers Band includes Michael Bacon on vocals, guitar and cello; Kevin Bacon on vocals, guitar and percussion; Paul Guzzone on bass guitar and backing vocals; Joe Mennonna on keyboards and accordion; Frank Vilardi on drums; and Ira Siegel on lead guitar, mandolin and backing vocals. Now, over two decades after the band formed in 1995, The Bacon Brothers are a musical force to be reckoned with. Don’t let Kevin’s roots in Hollywood fool you. Tickets are $47. VIP tickets are available for $250 and include a meet and greet. Buy tickets online at www.bbmannpah.com or call the box office at (239) 481-4849.

SAM GALLOWAY CONCERT SERIES AT THE RANCH

John Michael Montgomery, Thompson Square

The Sam Galloway Concert Series in conjunction with Gator Country 101.9 keeps going strong this summer with more national artists performing at The Ranch Concert Hall & Saloon in Fort Myers. John Michael Montgomery returns to The Ranch Concert Hall on June 2. John Michael Montgomery has turned an uncanny ability to relate to fans into one of country music’s most storied careers. Behind the string of hit records, the roomful of awards and the critical and fan accolades that have defined his phenomenal success lies a connection that goes beyond his undeniable talent and his proven knack for picking hits. Since the days when “Life’s A Dance” turned him from an unknown artist into a national star, John Michael’s rich baritone has carried that most important of assets– John Michael Montgomery believability. Few artists in any genre sing with more heart than this handsome Kentucky-born artist. Tickets start at $25 in advance. Thompson Square will perform June 23 at The Ranch. The duo of Keifer and Shawna Thompson are a force to be reckoned with in the modern day Country music landscape. International Country music stars, Thompson Square has topped the radio charts across the Unites States, Canada and Australia with #1 hits “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not,” “If I Didn’t Have You” and “Everything I Shouldn’t Be Thinking About,” respectively. After taking its headlining “Just Feels Good Tour” across the U.S., Asia and Australia in 2014, Thompson Square took time off to collaborate in the studio with both Dann Huff and celebrated producer Mickey Jack Cones (Dustin Lynch/ Joe Nichols) to work on the Stoney Creek Records duo’s upcoming third album. The result is a barefaced, emotionally charged and gutsy sound from the married duo that was honored as both the ACM and CMA “Vocal Duo of the Year” in 2012. Thompson

Square continued its streak in 2013, once again securing the ACM Award for “Vocal Duo of the Year.” In all, Thompson Square has scored three #1 hits, six Top 20 hits, seven mainstream industry awards, over 25 award nominations and appeared on major media franchises from The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan, CBS This Morning to Elle, Glamour, People, Rolling Stone, USA Today, USA Weekend and many more. Tickets for Thompson Square start at $30. Tracy Lawrence returns to The Ranch on July 1. He is one of the most recognizable voices in country music with songs such as “Paint Me A Birmingham,” “Time Marches On,” “Alibis” and “Find Out Who Your Friends Are.” The entertainer has enjoyed 22 songs on the Billboard top ten charts with 18 number one singles, selling over thirteen million albums. The Multi-platinum CMA and ACM award winning recording artist has helped shape the sound of country music for two decades, recently celebrating twenty-years in music. Few country artists have ever known the kind of success that Tracy Lawrence has earned and the influence his iconic voice has contributed to the country music genre. Tracy Lawrence tickets start at $25. Other upcoming shows in the Sam Galloway Concert Series include Gretchen Wilson on July 8 ($45 in advance), Josh Thompson on Aug. 26 ($15 in advance), Terri Clark on Sept. 30 ($25 in advance) and

William Michael Morgan on Oct. 27 ($20 in advance). The Sam Galloway Concert Series was started in the fall of 2014 to help bring awareness to Community Cooperative (The Soup Kitchen) and the good work they do in the community, says Brian Tidwell, general sales manager of Sam Galloway Ford. The concert series features rock and country artists on a regular basis at the venue. Portions of the profits of each concert go to help Community Cooperative feed the community, Tidwell said. For every pound of food donated, Sam Galloway Ford donates $1 to Community Cooperative. Concert goers are also encouraged to bring canned food items to the concerts at The Ranch. For tickets & details, visit www.theranchfortmyers.com. The Ranch can be reached at 239-985-9839. For most concerts, the doors open at 7 p.m. at The Ranch Concert Hall & Saloon, 2158 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.

Davis art Center showcases positivenegative artwork in juried group show

JUNE 2017

The ninth annual June Juried Art Exhibition prompted artists to submit work based on the theme positive/negative. This group show contains works from nearly 40 artists, and culminates in a competition for overall best of show, SBDAC’s pick, and people’s choice awards. On Friday, June 2, see these eclectic works for the first time from 6 to 10 p.m. during Art Walk. Then, on Friday, June 23, take part in the People’s Choice Awards with musical performances by Kyle Anne Duggan and Rosaline. This year, artists were asked to show how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other

Danielle Branchaud

as they interrelate to one another. Positive space refers to the main focus of a picture, while negative space refers to the background. When used creatively and intelligently, positive and negative space together can tell a story using visual composition alone. You cannot have one without the other. The show’s purpose is to exhibit how positive and negative forces cannot exist without one another, and how they can coexist. Pieces should explore the tensions and contrast between positive and negative, both formally and thematically. Art can include opposite or opposing attitudes, symbols, energies, tricks of perception, etc. The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center is located at 2301 First St. in the historic downtown Fort Myers River District.

Andrew Corke art installed at Ding Darling

Phase I of a new visual restroom interpretation began on May 9 at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge – the first of its kind in the 550-plus-refuge National Refuge System. The installation of a mother manatee, fashioned by local artist Andrew Corke entirely out of recycled bicycle tires, kicked off a project that is expected to be completed by late summer. Funded by a grant from the West Coast Inland Navigation District, Project #LearningLav will create educational messaging inside the lavatories at the “Ding” Darling Visitor & Education Center and on the outdoor wall leading to them. Simple teaser messages and visual artistic representations of mangroves, recycling, manatees, sea turtles, fish, and birds will entice visitors to go into the Visitor and Education Center to learn more. “We have identified a major missed opportunity for educating visitors,” said Birgie Miller, executive director of the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge, which is facilitating the grant and project. “Whereas we see nearly a million visitors to the refuge each year, only about a quarter of those numbers enter the center. We were finding that many came to use the

Oxbow Bar & Grill will occupy city pier building

During a May 15 meeting, the Fort Myers City Council officially accepted the recommendation from the City Selection Committee to move forward with Mainsail Lodging & Development, paving the way for the creation of Oxbow Bar & Grill, a new waterfront restaurant in downtown Fort Myers. Located in the city-owned pier building (1300 Hendry St.), the new restaurant development on the Caloosahatchee will also feature retail space and rental services including kayaks, paddleboards, motorized watercraft and bicycles for exploring downtown streets and waterways. The timeline has not been set, but Mainsail hopes to coordinate the construction and opening of the Oxbow project to coincide with the opening of the recently announced Luminary Hotel. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to take an integral role in making the city’s vision for a fully activated riverfront in downtown Fort Myers a reality,” said Joe Collier, president of Mainsail Lodging & Development. “As an independent restaurant, Oxbow will deliver an exceptional dining experience, but will also draw more people downtown to the water’s edge by offering an experiential component ideal for group activities, eco-tourism and adventure travel for visitors and locals alike.” Inspired by its unique location on the Caloosahatchee, the casual 150-seat Oxbow Bar & Grill will offer both indoor and outdoor seating and menu selections such as fresh shrimp, oysters and other signature favorites, spanning seafood, craft sandwiches and steaks. Oxbow will also capture the wonder of the natural landscape and celebrate urban adventure by offering a watersports outfitter with kayak and paddleboard rentals, as well as a retail store for outdoor equipment, attire, accessories and destination souvenirs. “There’s a lot going on in Fort Myers right now and we’re thrilled to be making a significant investment in the pier building as part of the transformation that’s taking place downtown,” added Joe Collier.

Annual First Celebrates Freedom set for July 6

Hungry families and children out of school for the summer will benefit from an evening of patriotic music and fellowship at First Celebrates Freedom, presented by First Presbyterian Church of Fort Myers and sponsored by the Galloway Family of Dealerships. The event, planned for Thursday, July 6 at First Presbyterian Church at 2438 Second St. in downtown Fort Myers, will be a 90-minute performance of patriotic music, hymns, instrumentalists, and special guests beginning at 7 p.m., with doors

opening at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, although voluntary cash donations and cans of non-perishable food will be accepted to benefit Community Cooperative (The Soup Kitchen). “For some families, summer means a certain kind of freedom. For the families we serve, it means just the opposite. Summer months can be the cruelest season for families who can’t rely on the schools to feed their hungry children,” said Community Cooperative CEO Tracey Galloway.

Eight of the iron sculptures that are part of the 23-piece “Allure Your Senses” art exhibit by internationally-renowned artist Edgardo Carmona have been moved to new locations in the River District for various reasons including to make room for construction of the new Luminary Hotel & Co. and other new development taking place in the downtown. Since arriving in the city last year, the exhibit has drawn attention from art lovers, residents and visitors alike. The city had requested that the monumental exhibit remain in historic downtown for as long as possible, so JAXI has worked with the artist to again extend the duration of the exhibit and has also gone to the expense of relocating many of the pieces. The massive effort to move the pieces that weigh anywhere from about 200 pounds to more than 1,000 pounds and are seven to 10 feet tall required heavy machinery be brought in overnight. The sculptures that were moved: Caracol was moved from the city building to the water basin promenade; Al Galope was moved from the library to the city building; Al Filo was

moved from the library to the water basin in between Sintonia and Utopia; Juego de Ajedrez was moved from across Sydney & Berne Davis Art Center to the entrance of the Arcade Theatre on First Street; Negacion a Baco was moved from across Sydney & Berne Davis Art Center to the north side of the bridge over the water basin; Apareo was moved from the Harborside Event Center to the water basin promenade area; and 10.0 (the ballerina) has also been moved to due to the hotel construction. The ballerina is now in front of the wall on the Broadway side of city hall where, in the evening, her shadowed-silhouette is cast on the wall creating the look of a painted mural.
