Theartist,whoprefersthesingle nameStan,createsrichandexuberantpieces,withheavytexturesand vividcolors.Morethancreativity,his artworkhasbeenpartofahealing process.“Mypaintingsaremuch morethanjusttechniquewithcolor andtheycouldnothavebeendone atanyothertimeinmylife,ifatall. Thesepaintingsaretheresultofa tragicandhardjourneytorecover fromadeepsadnessandutterlonelinessasabereavedparent-a depressionthatIcouldnotreleaseits griponmeuntil2018,whenIsufferedamassivespiralfracturetomyleftlegskateboardingapool,”commentsStan,who hastransformedtragedyintostrength.
“They’reraw[paintings],colorfulandbold.It’stakenme14 years,sincemy11yearolddaughterdiedin2004,formeto beinspiredlikeIamnow.Interestinglyenough,italsotooka
massiveinjurythatcould’veunderstandablycatapultmeintoadeeperdepression,yethasinspiredmethroughthe pain,frustrationandagony.Although,I sufferfromPTSDI’maliveagainandcreating,”addstheartist,whohasnoformal training,butmanyyearsofexperience includingaprofessionalfaux-finishing career.
