With one of Australia’s oldest surf lifesaving clubs, Byron Bay has been attracting beachgoers for over a hundred years. But it wasn’t until the 1960s and 1970s when hippies and surfers were drawn by its natural beauty and excellent surf that it began to come into its own, slowly developing into one of the world’s best beach destinations. We’ve been here since Tupelo first stocked us way back in the 70’s. B E H I N D T H E S C E N ES Each morning the Seafolly team would head to Top Shop at sun up to plan the day ahead over a banana smoothie and acai bowl. This place was perfect for blending in with the locals and we soon became regulars here. Whatever kind of day you’re planning for in Byron, you can’t get off to a better start than here. Photographer Ben Watts came onboard this project with a genuine connection and love for Byron Bay. Based in New York, he takes time out every year, to come back and visit his mum who lives in the area.
