TWITTER CLIENTS If your social life is ruled by Twitter, you need a decent client on your iPhone. But which one?

witter’s an increasingly big deal these days. Originally more or less a haven for geeks to send tiny messages to each other, it’s increasingly where news breaks, campaigns are formed, and also, to be fair, still where geeks (and now also non-geeks) send tiny messages to each other.

More streamlined than Facebook, Twitter’s enforced brevity through 140-character ‘tweets’ means you get a lot from a little time spent with it; and the asynchronous connection model (you follow whoever you want to – there’s no ‘friending’) really enables you to focus on getting information from sources you admire, without worrying about offending those you don’t. >

any of our readers are probably now the proud owners of an iPhone 5. But we all know that Apple’s beautiful industrial design isn’t always the most robust, and so you need a case to keep your new device in pristine condition. When looking for a case, there are a few things to bear in mind: what kind of wear and tear do you need to protect your pocket? Do you constantly need to remove the iPhone? Sometimes, a bad case is worse than no case at all. There are many different iPhone 5 cases available, but we’ve gathered together a few of the latest products, to give you > some idea of what’s on offer.

INSIDE INSTAGRAM PICTURE PERFECT

nstagram is the most popular photo sharing app on the iPhone but are you getting the most out of it? Find out how to get more from Instagram with our in-depth look. >
CHECK YOUR FEED The feed is where you’ll people you decide to follow. We’ll cover how follow later. You simply scroll down to see any images that have been uploaded. Below each is the description and comments, and how many people like each image. You can ‘like’ the image quickly by double tapping it. This reveals you liked it.

If you want to see just one person’s images, tap their username to see their with the grid view of all their Instagram uploads. You can swap to the feed view this a better way to look through all the images someone has uploaded. >
EXPLORE INSTAGRAM Apart from seeing close friends shots in your feed, you can look through all the images that have been uploaded to Instagram. Open the explore tab, the one that looks like a compass. This initially shows the 15 most liked images at the time. Tap the reload button in the top right and you’ll get 15 new ones. Tap on the thumbnail to see it larger. You can then tap the username and >
decide to follow them if you want to see their shots in your feed. From the explore tab you can use the users. Hashtags are used to help categorize images by the people who upload them. Try searching for #sun, #beach, or #fun, for example to see some popular hashtags. If you’re looking for a particular user, enter their Instagram

UPLOAD A PHOTO As well as passing plenty of time looking through other images, you’ll want to upload your own. To take a new picture, tap the blue camera icon and snap away. There are some added options across the top. You can enable the grid to help compose shots, Off, or Auto, or swap to the front facing camera for self portraits. >
If you have an image you’ve already taken and want to upload though, select the Camera Roll from beside the take picture button and choose from your images. Once you’ve taken or selected an image, you can scale and crop the picture before adding effects, the main reason Instagram is so popular. >

ADD EFFECTS Across the bottom of the screen you’ll left to right and you have quite a few options. Tap on any of the squares to try won’t alter the original image, so don’t worry about harming it forever. >

Then you have the tilt-shift option, represented by the teardrop. By tapping this it blurs certain parts of the image while leaving the center in focus. Tap once for the circular effect, or again for the line. You can then pinch on the screen to increase or decrease the area point. To turn it off, tap the teardrop for a third time. > Circle

Last is the Lux option, with the icon that looks like a sun. This adds more contrast to your images and sharpens the colors. This can even make images without

TAG IT effects, tap Next and add more details about the image. Include a description Make sure the hashtag is relevant and not obscure. For example, if your shot is of breakfast use the hashtag #breakfast instead of something like #brekkie. This will ensure that your picture gets seen by as many people as possible. >
ANY NEWS? As well as following other people, they can follow you back. When someone the news tab. SEE YOURSELF Instagram gives you a quick way to check up on yourself. Tap the show your account details. From here you can see how many people you follow, and how many follow you, plus all the photos you’ve ever uploaded. Tap the followers or following buttons at the top to see the complete list.

CONTROL COMMENTS As with all social networks, you may receive some unwanted or spam comments on your pictures. Thankfully there is a way to remove them. Navigate to the picture in question, then tap comment below the image. This reveals all the comments on that picture. To remove one, swipe across it from left to right to reveal the trash can icon. Tap this to remove it. >
LET’S GO INSTAGRAM! So now you should feel comfortable with all the options Instagram has to offer, from uploading photos, to following others, and keeping track of how many likes you get. So what are you waiting for, go upload some pictures!
