written & directed by Mischa Hedinger 2

For decades the Swiss travel author René Gardi (1909–2000) elucidated the African continent and its inhabitants for us. In books, television programmes and films, he rhapsodised about the beautiful naked peoples and the pre-modern times in which they lived. The allegedly ideal world became Gardi’s paradise and Africa the surface on which to project the longings of those back home. The film tells the story of our colonial image of Africa.

Urban Amazons are fierce heroines and fighters who also have the power to conquer hearts. They fight for their beliefs. No justification, no compromise, always pressing on. A fight for victory in a martial arts cage, a fight for love and respect, a fight for fellow sufferers and humanity. This is a call for Amazons to stand together.
