Dear Short Film Aficionados These Swiss film productions will add a great deal of colour to the film year 2014. SWISS FILMS, the promotion agency, presents a selection of 59 Swiss short film productions with potential for international distribution in SHORTS FILMS 2014. The catalogue comprises short films of all genres produced by the end of 2013: 26 short fiction films, 16 animation films, 12 documentaries and 5 experimental films. The selection was made by Annina Wettstein (member of the Solothurner Filmtage selection committee), Sandrine Waller (RTS – Radio Télévision Suisse) and Marisa Suppiger (International Short Film Festival Winterthur), together with Simon Koenig and Sylvain Vaucher, the short film specialists at SWISS FILMS. Apart from this printed version of the catalogue, we offer an online version in three languages. It is continually updated and provides additional information. On our website www.swissfilms.ch you will also find information on more than 2’100 Swiss short film productions, news, the latest festival awards and participation as well as facts and figures relating to Swiss filmmaking. Twice a year SWISS FILMS produces the “swiss shorts” DVD, featuring a selection of Swiss short film productions. Moreover, the promotion agency financially supports participation of Swiss film productions at major international film festivals. SWISS FILMS also organises the Short Film Night Tour and other short film events throughout all of Switzerland and provides short film distribution for cinemas. Feature-length Swiss film productions are presented in our FICTION & DOCUMENTARY catalogue. We hope that the films presented here will spark your interest. The old shaman was away for the day, and his young apprentice decided to defy the ban that had been imposed on him. He went into the yurt and tried to imitate the magical rituals of his master.
