CHRISTOPHE BLANC * 1966 in France. Christophe Blanc turned to directing after studying photography at Universty of Marseille. His first short film VIOLENTE (1992) received numerous awards. His first medium-length film FAUTE DE SOLEIL (1996) was presented at the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes. UNE FEMME D’EXTÉRIEUR (2000) with Agnès Jaoui in the lead role, received great critical and public reception. Blanc is further known for the film BLANC COMME NEIGE (2010).

DARIA ONYSHCHENKO * 1983 in Ukraine. Daria Onyshchenko is a Ukrainian film director and writer. She studied communication, PR and international Journalism at the Taras Shevchenko University in Kiev, before pursuing her studies in film. She graduated from the University of Television and Film in Munich in 2012. Her first feature film, EASTALGIA (2014), received many awards at international festivals.

Nina is a Ukrainian language teacher who can’t leave her city occupied by separatists in Eastern Ukraine. Andrii is a student who was orphaned in the aftermath of the war. They cross paths when Nina witnesses Andrii being arrested by the police for a trifle. Nina immediately knows that she has to help Andrii, because they live in a world of injustice and lies, so Andrii might end up staying in jail for a long time.

NIKLAUS HILBER * 1970. Niklaus Hilber studied directing at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and screenwriting at the AFI in Los Angeles. It also screened in competition at the 19th Tallin Black Nights Film Festival as well as at Cinema Jove in Valencia.
Together with producer Joëlle Bertossa, Flavia Zanon is the co-owner of Geneva based Close Up Films. The production company gained international recognition with the coproduction of the documentary ADVOCATE which premiered at Sundance in 2019. The film has won numerous festival awards and made the Oscar shortlist in the Documentary Feature category.

Producer Flavia Zanon was the Swiss participant for the Producers on the Move programme of the European Film Promotion EFP, on recommendation of SWISS FILMS.
This January, Flavia Zanon celebrated the premiere of her latest coproduction YALDA, A NIGHT FOR FORGIVENESS (2020) by Iranian director Massoud Bakhshi at the Sundance Film Festival where it won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize in the Dramatic category. In February, the fiction film screened in the Generation 14plus Competition at the Berlinale.

Allegra is a lively young woman with a passion for high mountain climbing. A scheme by the European Film Promotion (EFP) for the promotion of European films outside of Europe. CLASSIC: A scheme also available to European and Swiss sales companies selling Swiss films at selected festivals and markets. READY-TO-USE DIGITAL PROMOTION CAMPAIGNS: This scheme encourages the creation of innovative universal digital promotion strategies (B2B/B2C) by European sales companies. FESTIVAL SUPPORT for applicants (rights holders)
If the festival is cancelled:
– Flat-rate amounts agreed upon and confirmed by SWISS FILMS will be paid out against receipt of costs incurred for online promotion, flights, hotel, rebookings or cancellations. Only the costs incurred will be paid out. – Amounts agreed upon and confirmed by SWISS FILMS for festival sections A1 and A2 will be paid out upon receipt of costs incurred. If the festival is postponed:
– Rights holders are eligible to reapply, regardless of whether the flat rate specified to cover the costs incurred for the original festival date has already been exhausted. The actual costs which are incurred again will be paid out against receipt. DISTRIBUTION SUPPORT

If the theatrical release is postponed:
– International distributors who have received a funding agreement from the Federal Office of Culture and who had confirmed the theatrical release may request the first instalment against proof of the distribution costs planned or already incurred within the scope of their application. If the theatrical release is cancelled:
– International distributors for whom the theatrical release had to be completed or terminated prematurely can request the second instalment upon receipt of an interim invoice for services already rendered. For new cinema releases:
– Submission deadlines for distribution support will remain as such until further notice. VOD SUPPORT for applicants (rights holders and international distributors currently using alternative distribution)
FILM SALES SUPPORT (FSS) for applicants (sales)
– Applications for VOD Support for the distribution of Swiss films on international VOD platforms can be submitted at any time. – Under the current circumstances, SWISS FILMS also accepts platforms that are not on the SWISS FILMS VOD list, provided there is a valid reason. If the market is deferred or lost:
– Costs incurred will be paid out against receipt and within the scope of the funding agreed upon. For digital markets:
– Applications for support can be submitted within the scope of FSS. The share of costs is based on the regular FSS conditions. – Additional applications for digital online campaigning may be submitted. SWISS FILMS follows the recommendations and guidelines of the European Film Promotion EFP. SWISS FILMS would like to point out that VOD Support is an alternative distribution tool for promoting Swiss films on VOD platforms.
