A word from the editor As Autumn drew to a close we looked forward to this, the most magical of seasons. With it's beautiful palette of silvers and whites, it's the perfect time for a wedding. With four styled shoots, each celebrating different aspects of a winter wedding, you're sure to be inspired. Two of the photo shoots we are sharing with you are so close to our hearts, both of which took place at Tanfield House in Yorkshire and all of the small businesses involved either hand make their wedding items or offer a truly bespoke service. These shoots encompass everything that And so to Wed values and believes in. We know that a wedding is about the feelings and emotions of the day and these can be created or enhanced by having special, personalised items or service. We have so many talented small businesses here in the UK and we want to shout from the rooftops about how wonderful they are! We also have two real wedding features, one a whimsically styled celebration that brings the outdoors in and the second is a truly Scottish affair with a stunning location and lots of personalised touches. If you're planning a hen do for this time of year we have some top tips on how to give the bride a fabulously fun and festive time! I’m not really one of these girls who can spend hours pouring over bridal magazines, websites, and scrapbooking every available option. It’s really not how I work! So when I came across a link to Bridea online it seemed like an interesting option. You pay £12.50 + P&P, which didn’t seem too bad to try on a whim, and a box of wedding goodies is sent to your door. So… I ordered my first Bridea box. It arrived within a few days of ordering and was a cute white box, with its contents surrounded by gorgeous pink tissue paper and a fab leaflet of discount codes for many of the products they link to and provide inside the box. I’ll be honest… I really didn’t expect to get that excited by opening a box of random things but it was really fun!

I could go through all the items hidden inside my box, but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone tempted to order one from now on! So I’m just going to highlight a few of my favourite items from the box. I’m easily tempted by chocolate and these were certainly tempting! Wrapped up in their neat little art deco-esque box, was the trio of chocolate wedding favours from Artisan du Chocolat, based in London. I think I’ve found somewhere new to treat myself to some great chocolate. I also really loved the sweet fortune cookie that had been supplied by Maple Molly’s, based in Leicester. Chocolate covered fortune cookies are a fab idea and they tasted great. Having explored their website they have a number of different options available for wedding favours. My next major thing in my wedding planning is finding my wedding stationery ready to send out in the new year. All the fab freebies inside the box sent me on a discovery of companies I hadn’t heard of or seen online. Some were quite commercially printed, some were more handmade looking and I’m still confused as to what I want but it was a great chance to have a browse through the different things out there. There was a great variety of products in the box and for the price, it was definitely worth a look! In my box, I had six stationery samples, eleven favours and wedding decoration options, heel stoppers for my wedding shoes (which luckily are the right size for my heels!) and flip-flops! A few of the things that were included are quite Americanised like a neoprene beer cooler koozie (aka a beer bottle cover) and handheld fans personalised with the wedding name and dates. I've since looked into a number of the products featured in the coupon book, that aren’t in the box. I really can’t explain how useful having a box of ideas delivered to my door has been. I’ve used it to definitely rule some things out, things I now know aren’t going to be right or financially viable for my wedding day but it’s also given me ideas that I’d love to try and make work. It also put me at ease with the amount of things I can already tick off the Wedding To-Do list… Time is slipping away so quickly. 272 days left and counting!

The first part in our fabulous collaborative photo shoot brings together small businesses in the wedding industry who hand make their items. Using a colour palette of white and barely there gold, alongside soft natural foliage, textures and lace fabrics, the shoot evokes feelings of timeless warm winter celebrations in luxurious surroundings. Capturing the feel of a winter wedding morning and the reflective time of the bride at this truly fabulous venue. The venue, Tanfield House, is a new wedding venue, based in the heart of Yorkshire, that offers wedding couples a truly unique experience. Still a family home, couples can have the whole house to do with what they want, including the beautiful riverside gardens. On 15th November 2014 Corrie and Matthew said 'I do' then celebrated at Dundas Castle, South Queensferry, Scotland. 'Our wedding was in November, so it was a wonderful bonus when we woke up to a beautiful autumnal day. The morning of my wedding was strangely one of my favourite bits of the day: the anticipation, hanging out with my sisters and girlfriends, eating breakfast, drinking prosecco and getting our hair and make-up done.' 'We had a traditional Church of Scotland wedding at my local church – we know the minister well. As I walked down the aisle, I was almost overcome with emotion but my nephew and page boy, Nathanael, was at the front of the church with my mum, cheering me on – shouting ‘Hi Auntie Corrie!’ which definitely saved me! Then I saw Matt and everything was fine. ' 'We wanted a Scottish theme. My husband is English so we wanted to give his side of the family the full Scottish experience! So we started with our venue, a Scottish castle: Dundas Castle is in the town that I grew up in and my parents still live, we were very lucky to have such a beautiful, iconic venue right on our doorstep.'

'My favourite details were: - my tartan shawl. Mum had seen them at a lovely tartan shop in the borders and suggested it. I had so many lovely comments about how unique and beautiful it was with my dress. - our favours: my dad made tablet for everyone. It is the only thing he can cook well! - the flower centerpieces: my mum and my bridesmaid’s mum (my second mum) arranged them and they were perfect. - the cake and sweets table: I love to bake, so it was nice to put another element of me into the day.' 'We had a relatively small dinner of just family (still 60 people!) at the castle, then our evening guests joined us for speeches and a ceilidh. We loved every moment of our day! 'My advice to other brides is do not be a bridezilla – there is no excuse for it and it makes everyone else miserable! Enjoy the planning, try not to get stressed. Pick your bridesmaids wisely! Coming from Toronto, Canada I was always fascinated by the Scottish nature and culture. The inspiration came from the movie drama, Valhalla Rising (www.imdb.com/title/tt0862467/), which was filmed in Scotland. I really wanted to have that moody atmosphere and grit in my pictures. On the other hand this was a wedding photo shoot and for the bride I wanted to have a very feminine and angelic look. In a way I wanted to create a very epic scenery of a rough and dangerous environment around a beautiful and innocent bride. To compliment this I wanted to have a real Scottish man beside her to protect her and be strong. Aside from the fact that we only had less than an hour to shoot due to the storm, at the end I think we pulled it off, if not a full story than at least somewhat an inspiration. Winter Hen Plan the perfect hen celebration in this the most magical of seasons

There is nothing like a Winter hen party. It might be dark and cold outside, but nothing beats that festive feeling. For any of you out there who are planning the most awesome send off for your bestie around the festive season, we have put together a few alternative hen party ideas for keeping the hen troops entertained over the hen weekend. Visit Santa’s Grotto Take a trip down memory lane with an all time favourite winter experience and go sit on the old guy’s knee. If at all possible you could try organise with the team at Santa’s workshop to have the Bride put on the naughty list to add to the fun. Of course Santa has been known to be a bit of a chancer himself so no doubt this will make for some great fun and festive Kodak moments. Ice Skating Ice skating can be a great way to get the whole gang giggling. With festive music, the smell of hot chocolate and festive food filling the air, this is a great one for getting everyone in the spirit and no doubt there will be a few less than dignified skaters who spend most of the time on their bum providing the laughs for everyone.

Gift Wrapping Class/Tree Decoration DIY Christmas can be an expensive time for everyone, so why not go down the DIY activity route. Keep it fun and simple. Look up a few gift wrapping or DIY tree decorations tutorials on Youtube or a crafty blog. Put on your teacher’s hat and wow them all with your artsy creativity. All you will require are some materials which can be sourced super cheap. Lauren Conraeat your heart out!! Trip to the Pantomime Revisit your youth and take a trip to the local pantomime. The Panto is always great fun and is an activity suitable for everyone from your Aunty Betty to your other halves younger sister, - win-win!! This has become increasingly popular in more recent years and is a guaranteed comic night out, but with a strictly 18+ admission rule, be sure to check that this one is suitable for all attending and maybe leave Aunty Betty at home for this one...! party, there is always room for a few hen party splurge ideas too. What better way to send your bestie off into winter wonderland marital bliss, than getting everyone in the spirit at a stunning Christmas Market. Among the top 10 in Europe are Munich, Vienna, Krakow, Prague and Budapest to name a few. A little closer to home there is the stunning market that takes over the city of Bath. A Christmas shopperâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s paradise, each year 170 chalets packed full of gorgeous Christmas gifts line the streets surrounding the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey. Depending on which side of the pond you are one, there is also the Christmas Market in Dublin with more than 60 chalets taking up residence in St. Stephenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Green. Hello lovely brides to be… So the wedding is booked! I thought that would be the hard part over with… but it seems that there is far more to this planning malarky than I originally thought! Fear not though, timing is everything, as long as you prioritise and organise there is plenty of time to get everything done…or at least I hope so!

I spent a long time focusing on décor and researching what I can buy online to take with me to Croatia to save on costs and what items are easy to transport. The wedding planner has lots of experience with styling weddings and she has done a great job incorporating my décor ideas to give our wedding that rustic/coral theme. I have had a great time so far, planning all the fun things from décor to choosing a photographer, band, menu etc… but there is a vast amount of documentation and legalities that you have to deal with, which can seem quite daunting, especially regarding the requirements, so I would get the dates in your diary ASAP. This will ensure that you don't miss any deadlines or forget any documents that have to be submitted to ensure your wedding day can go ahead. We are in the process of ordering our invites, which is very exciting as it is all becoming very real…there are some fantastic businesses out there offering a

wide range of stationery for weddings, so I’d certainly say do not compromise on how you want your invites to look as you will be able to find someone to deliver your vision. We found a lovely little business from Wales who create beautiful designs, so we are working closely with them to get these just right before they go to production…I can’t wait to see them all finished and ready to post out to our lovely guests. The next step was “The Dress”. This is is such an exciting time for a bride and I can honestly say that I have never tried on so many different dresses and styles! There are just too many to choose from and if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to try on them all!

I visited around 10 boutiques and tried on approximately 65-70 dresses, as I felt that this was the best way to eliminate those with aspects that I didn’t like and focus on the areas that I did. I would recommend trying on as many different styles as possible, and definitely be open minded, try on dresses and styles that are not what you thought you would go for, as you never know what your dream dress is going to look like until you try it on.

Most importantly, I would say to know what your budget is before you go shopping, as you don’t want to fall in love with a dress that you later realise is out of your budget. My top tip would be to shop around (online as well as in stores) and if you find a dress that you love, don't buy it there and then. Ask the boutiques if they have a “designer” event coming up, if they do you will usually find they offer a 10% discount for that particular designer over one or two days, which is great as any savings you can make whilst planning your wedding is a bonus. I had some brilliant days out with my bridesmaids and mum, we had a great time rating dresses and deciding if it was the one…I appreciated having my ladies with me offering their opinions and advice, but remember brides, this is your wedding day and the dress that you will get married in…you will know 'the one' when you try it on. I had a fantastic experience at the boutiques but I fell in love with a beautiful gown by Maggie Sottero (which, just to add, is nothing like I thought I would choose when I first started looking) from a boutique in Harrogate and I just can’t wait to wear it on my wedding day. I managed to book a day in with all six of my bridesmaids and we chose their dresses, which is fantastic as I know this can sometimes be a challenging task for a bride. I’m really pleased that they found a style that they all loved and they looked amazing in their dresses. There is a lot more to do yet, but it seems things are slowly getting ticked off the checklist. Next plan of action is to get the Hen Do’s planned and booked, although I will most certainly be leaving these events in the capable hands of my bridesmaids. Love
