These were the “HANDS behind the SHIPWRECK LODGE”, the BIG BOYS that build the ULTIMATE Lodge, that has been named, 'Best Safari Lodge' by Jetsetter in their 2019 Best of the Best Awards

You see, we live in a world that scream out to fit in, chase the better, the latest model, have it all, be it all. A society of beliefs, morals and values that has changed so much during the last 20 years. But, God - he had different plans. His different plans, are always the best plans, for my not-so-well-laid plans. He had plans to take my “not enough” and exchange it for “more than good enough.” He always seems to do that when we are looking, seeking and praying after His will, doesn’t he? If we have Jesus, we have the allencompassing sufficient answer to every one of life’s problems. It can just be very hard to see in the whirlwind of pain. He understands this and, in many cases, gently brings us right into his fold, when we are ready. When we look for Him, we realize we have - and always had more than enough!

Difficulties with transfer duty The Transfer Duty Act, 1993 (Act No. 14 of 1993) at section 2 (1) requires that a legally prescribed percentage of transfer duty be paid upon any transfer of immovable property at the Namibian Deeds Registry. Because the Deeds Registry does not handle cash or other payments on behalf of the Government of Namibia, the Deeds Registry allows transfer of immovable property to occur upon sight of a transfer duty receipt issued by the Ministry of Finance, which receipt signifies that the required amount of transfer duty has been paid. Section 3 (3) of the Transfer Duty Act, 1993 therefore stipulates that the required transfer duty is to be paid to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. Bearing in mind the above, the Ministry of Finance has recently introduced the new Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS), which serves as an electronic taxation administration system. The current difficulties and delays in the transfer process which Sellers and Purchasers should therefore be aware of are the following:

Ÿ Upon signature of the Agreement of Sale of Immovable Property, the Conveyancer will send such agreement to the Ministry in order to make payment of the amount of applicable transfer duty and then be issue a transfer duty receipt based upon the amount of the purchase price denoted in the Agreement of Sale, or in case of donation transfers, based upon the sworn valuation for the donated immovable property;

Ÿ The transfer duty receipt which is then generated by ITAS

based upon the information stored on the system for each taxpayer, then shows the name of the taxpayer as saved on the system;

Ÿ In practice Conveyancers find that many requests for transfer duty receipts are rejected because of incorrect spelling or information which has been inserted into ITAS and the consequent receipt is then generated by the system showing the same incorrect information on the transfer duty receipt;

Ÿ The transfer duty receipt is then rejected by the Deeds

Registry upon examination of the documents as the name on the transfer duty receipt does not reflect the same name as is shown on the transfer documents;

Ÿ One very problematic example relates to taxpayers who register as “trading as or t/a”, consequently the transfer duty receipt is issued for i.e. Mr. John Kikongo t/a Electrical Merchants, but the Deeds Registry does not accept such name nor allows property to be registered in such name;

Ÿ The problem is then that severe delays in the transfer process are occasioned by the fact that the records of the Ministry on the ITAS system conflict with the records of the Deeds Registry, bearing in mind 99 % of the time, the Deeds Registry's records will be correct;

Ÿ Lastly, no transfer duty receipt can be issued in the name

of a person or entity, if the person or entity is not registered on the ITAS system, consequently in order to get transfer at the Deeds Registry persons and entities have to register with ITAS;

Ÿ The advice from the Ministry is to register such persons or

entities who are not otherwise liable for tax, as taxpayer under the threshold for taxation purposes, this would apply to foreigners and minors etc. in order to have a transfer duty receipt issued by the system without creating tax reporting problems;

CONCLUSION: Assist the appointed Conveyancer at Dr. Weder, Kauta & Hoveka Inc, in ensuring that your details as entered into ITAS upon initially registering as a taxpayer are correct, and if they do not correspond to the names on the transfer documents, that you change your name on the ITAS system in order not to delay the issuance of transfer duty receipts and the consequent registration process.

The heart of the home is the kitchen Whether you are a hobby chef, someone who loves to entertain, or a busy family, the kitchen will always be the heart of the home and the place where you spend a lot of time. It should be a space where it’s form and function suits your needs and one which is fun to be in. And there is value in it. According to research performed in the United Kingdom, a revamped, modern kitchen could add anywhere between 4 and 6% to your home's value! Renovating your kitchen could simply be making changes to cabinets or surfaces, changing light fixtures and adding accents with new taps for example, or adding a splash of colour. The hottest trends for kitchens. Recessed or fluorescent lighting is gone. Suspended or pendant lights are becoming increasingly popular and add stunning accents to the space. With LED bulbs you will have ample light to prepare your culinary delights and, as an added bonus, you will be saving on your power bill. Moving on to your cabinets… handles are not what they used to be and in fact, one of the hottest trends at the moment is to have none at all. But that does not mean your kitchen must be dark and sleek… not at all. Gold and copper are also making their return. Use them in a row of tiles or on smaller fixtures. They complement lighter and darker surfaces and if well used, can add a classy feel to your space and warm it up with a more vintage vibe. The possibilities are endless. Aquaponics The modern-day organic gardening Aquaponics is an evolving closed-system food production technology that integrates recirculating aquaculture with hydroponics. It is a sustainable method of raising both fish and vegetables. It is very popular with individuals, entrepreneurs, educators and governments. Furthermore, with this type of indoor farming, you grow substantially more food with less water, land and labor than traditional agriculture. This is a great ofto- garden even in smaller space. Resilient farming system that provides wellness and better nutrition Aquaponics is a form of agriculture that combines raising fish in tanks (recirculating aquaculture) with soilless plant culture (hydroponics). In aquaponics, the nutrient-rich water from raising fish provides a natural fertilizer for the plants and the plants help to purify the water for the fish. Aquaponics can be used to sustainably raise fresh fish and vegetables for a family, to feed a village or to generate profit in a commercial farming venture, year 'round, in any climate. It is a great example of year 'round, indoor farming. It can be done anywhere, providing fresh local food that is free of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers. It is safe, easy and fresh! Natural and sustainable Aquaponics is a completely natural process that mimics all lakes, ponds, rivers and waterways on Earth. The only input into an aquaponics system is fish food. The fish eat the food and excrete waste, which is converted by beneficial bacteria

to nutrients that the plants can use. In consuming these nutrients, the plants help to purify the water. You cannot use herbicides, pesticides or other harsh chemicals in an aquaponics system, making the fish and plants healthful and safe to eat. Water consumption on an Aquaponic system is about 90% less than in normal open bed circumstances. The water gets circulated within the system and top-up water is required on a minimum basis. Since no soil is part of the system, the plants are also not susceptible to any soil pathogenic diseases other than in a normal open ground bed, you have always the possibilities of pathogenic disease attacking either the plant or their root system, e.g. Nematodes, furious fungal dieses etc. What Can You Grow?

Mint does extremely well but do needs to be kept in control concerning its growth, extremely vigorous growing and will take over the whole growing bed in not kept in control. Even Papaya, granadilla, tomatoes, cucumber, pumpkin, peas and beans, but you will have to put up trellises for it to climb on.

How to make your own cuttings Making cuttings is an affordable way of propagating your favourite plants for the garden, or for sharing with friends. Seeing plants growing from cuttings in your garden can be a trip down memory lane, associated with a friend, a beloved relative or a special holiday. SOFTWOOD CUTTINGS The best time for taking softwood cuttings is in spring (August to early October), or autumn (March to April), when conditions are mild and warm. Ÿ Take a cutting with at least 3 leaves and a shoot. The best stems for cutting are the side branches or those near the base of the plant. Ÿ Cut off the large leaves and side growth as well as the tip, which is too soft. Although it is soft wood, the stem should be firm and not sappy. Ÿ Cut any remaining leaves in half – this reduces transpiration. Ÿ Cut off the bottom section as close to the node as possible, or about 1cm from the node, and cut a sliver off the side of the shoot. This provides more space for the roots to develop. Use a sharp blade and not secateurs, as secateurs tend to squash the stem when cutting. Ÿ Hormone root powder is not essential, but does increase the rate of taking. Put some powder in a bottle cap and dip the bottom of the cutting in it. Ÿ Make a hole in the soil with the back of a teaspoon or your finger, and insert the cutting. Do not push the cutting into the soil as this could block the air holes in the stem and inhibit the development of roots. Ÿ The bottom node should be just under the soil. Ÿ Water lightly and add an organic fungicide to the water to prevent die-back or wilt. Ÿ Cover the pot with plastic cling wrap or the top of a 2-litre plastic cool drink bottle. This traps the moisture and the heat inside, creating a miniature micro-climate where the pot can be left for up to 3 weeks without watering. Keep an eye on it, though, and check often that the soil is still damp. The finger test is always the best. Ÿ Place the cutting in a warm area that receives good light but no direct sun. Ÿ Once the cutting starts growing, make holes in the plastic to harden off the cutting. Ÿ Softwood cuttings should root within two to five weeks. HARDWOOD CUTTINGS Hardwood or semi-hardwood cuttings are struck from plants that will not grow from green cuttings. The shoot should be taken from the side shoots of the current season's growth, and the best time is in autumn. Ÿ Break or tear off, rather than cut the shoot so that there is a

even more important for root development when working with woody cuttings. Dip the cuttings in hormone rooting powder – Efekto's No. 2 or 3 – and remove most of the leaves. Have a pot on hand that is filled with a damp but welldrained growing medium – coco peat works best. Like with softwood cuttings, make a hole with the back of a teaspoon or your finger and insert the cutting. Place in a warm area that receives good light but no direct sun. No need to create a micro-climate. Hardwood and semi-hardwood cuttings take longer to root, anything between two to three months.

Avoid these mistakes With it still being very hot in Namibia we get regular requests for a “once off pool clean”. We often find the following mistakes leading to the pool owner not getting his pool water's chemical balance right. Thinking you're are a Water Park If you are regularly hosting huge pool parties, you should probably adjust the way that you are treating your pool. The more bodies that are in a pool, the more chlorine and pool chemicals you are going to need to keep things in balance. Before you have a number of people over and immediately afterward, you should use extra chemicals to reset everything. You should also take extra time to clean your pool by cleaning your filter via a proper backwash. Letting “Butch” In Many pets love playing in the pool, but their fur and all of the mud on their paws is not very good for the state of your pool. If you are going to allow your pets in the pool, you should put cover over the entire pool the moment that they get out. The day after you let your pets jump in, you should clean your filter and skimmer basket to keep the hair completely out of the pool. Leaving Your Pump Off Leaving your swimming pool pump turned off might save you a few N$, on your electric bill, but there's a good chance you'll be taking that money and simply spending it on chlorine and pool chemicals later. Since a properly installed swimming pool is made to keep itself clean with pumps and filters, turning those things off or taking them away can throw everything out of balance. Always leave your swimming pool on for at least 7-8 hours a day, especially during the summer months and periods of heavy use. A pool pump being switched off for long periods in time will definitely get damaged as the water standing in the pump has chemicals like acid which ruins for example the mechanical seal. Cauliflower Pizza Base INGREDIENTS: 1 Big Head of Cauliflower 1 Large Egg 0.5 Cups of Grated Mozzarella Cheese 1 Tsp of Italian Herbs 0.5 Tsp Salt 0.5 Tsp Ground Black Pepper METHOD: Preheat the oven to 200C. If you have a food processor, chop your cauliflower up into individual florets and blitz into a "rice" like texture in the food processor, if you don't have one you can grate your cauliflower like you would if you were making Cauliflower Rice. Place your riced cauliflower into a big bowl and cook in the microwave for 10-12 minutes, depending on your microwaves strength. Once it's cooked and allowed to cool, scoop as much of the cauliflower as you can into some cheesecloth if you have it, or what I do is just use a clean dishtowel. Once you have the cauliflower in your cloth/towel grab all four corners and twist in order to squeeze as much liquid as possible out, and you will be surprised by how much actually does come out. This part is a bit of an arm work out but the more liquid you get out, the crispier the end product will be. Once you've squeezed out as much water as humanly possible put the cauliflower back into the bowl and add your egg, herbs, mozzarella, salt and pepper and mix together well. When that's done, scoop out the doughy mixture and pat down into a baking pan on a sheet of baking paper or well greased, non-stick pan. Make sure to not make your base too thin. Place your baking pan with mixture into the oven and bake it for 15 - 20 minutes. Once it's ready, take it out, cover with the toppings of your choice and pop back into the oven for a further 10 - 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted nicely.
