Hotel Concept
The advancement of technology in our modern world has allowed people to expand their reach but at the same time, lose touch quickly with the places they visit. 4D Hotel will introduce the concept of ‘Trace’ where these modern nomads can make, leave behind and take away unique experiences related to the city’s culture and be part of a worldwide network through 4D Hotel. Secondary to the user’s hotel experience, 4d Hotel also seeks to revitalize existing buildings that can enhance the historical, architectural or cultural value of a city and its people.

Design Concept
Use of an existing structure Building name: The Nakagin Capsule Tower, 中銀カプセルタワー 中銀カプセルタワー,, Nakagin Kapuseru Tawa Designed by: Kisho Kurokawa Built in: 1972 Kurokawa: “ We used to consider things that could live forever to be beautiful. But this way of thinking has been exposed as a lie. True beauty lies in things that die, things that change.” The concept behind the 4D Hotel design is centered around one word: Meta-Hollow Meta-Hollow.. This interpretation refers to the existence of unfilled spaces within existing structures, silently waiting to be inhabited by human beings. In contemporary society, everyone is able to see and be seen virtually anywhere and at any time, yet we often choose to confine ourselves within the same space everyday. Even within the short amount of time guests spend at 4D Hotel, the experience is meant to make them feel more self-conscious -- to be more aware of their own impact on and relations to a space. These capsules present the minimal and bare essential needs of living to users. The design is to maximize space without compromising functionality or design. Together, function and form become hidden elements in a space, revealing themselves only when needed.
140 capsules ranging from 8 sq.m. to 19.8 sq.m. Made for short term individual stay or for up to groups of three or four. Multi-layered and four-dimensional quality of building offers unique views from every capsule. Color-changing LEDs are embedded into the exterior face of each capslule for users to manipulate and the facade of the building. Colors may reflect or elicit a user’s current mood. Colors appear and pulse only when a user is inhabiting a capsule.
