It's time for a scenic road trip! From Bow to Bellingham, take your time exploring Chuckanut Drive. This 20-mile stretch of wonder includes rocky cliffs, dense forests, sparkling bays, mountain ranges, restaurants, local farms and more.
Samish Bay Overlook (Mile 10) Depending on what time of day you're on the Chuckanut, you may catch a glorious sunrise or sunset over Samish Bay. Set your camera to panoramic and walk the trail to the Overlook. Want to see the real Bat Cave? Put on your hiking shoes and keep going to Oyster Dome. With epic views and birdwatching, you'll see why over 40,000 visitors flock here every year!
Heritage Marker Pullout (Mile 12) A very pleasant spot to have a snack at a picnic table with views you normally have to pay for! If you (carefully!) walk across the road, kids of all ages will be amazed at the plant fossils, rare bird, animal and mammal tracks preserved in the ancient rock.
Larrabee State Park/Clayton Beach (Mile 15) Washington's first state park features Clayton Beach and stunning views of the Puget Sound, Anacortes and San Juan Islands. Take some time to contemplate the tide pools and dramatic sandstone formations along the 8,100 feet of shoreline.
