FLAME RETARDANT EN ISO 11612:2008 This standard specifies the requirements for protective clothing against heat and flames. Protective clothing which is claimed to comply with this European standard shall meet the limited flame spread requirement and at least one other heat transmission performance requirement. The clothing should only be used for the purposes indicated. To protect the whole body, the entire body should be covered, eg. jacket and trouser to be worn together. In the event of accidental splash or chemical of flammable liquids or molten metal on clothing whilst being worn, the wearer shall immediately withdraw and carefully remove the garments. The clothing shall then be cleaned or removed from service. In the event of molten metal, garment, if worn next to the skin, may not eliminate all risks of burn. EN ISO 11612 Flame retardant workwear from Synfiber provide the following minimum protection: A1, B1, C1, E1. This garment’s classification is specified inside the product. Electrostatic properties EN 1149-5:2008 The garments are certified in compliance with EN 1149-5, which specifies the requirements concerning product standards for anti-static garments. The garments reduces the risk of explosion in areas where it is, or may occur, high concentrations of gases and / or combustible liquids. The fabric is tested in compliance with EN 1149-3. The anti-static features are achieved through carbon threads woven into the fabric, consequently the antistatic properties are permanent. Persons wearing antistatic garments should be properly earthed by wearing antistatic footwear. (Unless they are earthed directly.) Welding EN ISO 11611:2007 Garments complies with the welding norm. Garments made of 350 g/m² weight fabric are EN ISO 11611 class 2 certified. Garments made in lighter fabric meet the requirements of EN ISO 11611 class 1. The difference between the two classes is the amount of sparks and the amount of radiant heat the garments can withstand. Metal buttons etc, pockets and other openings shall be covered. To provide the specified level of protection, jacket and trousers should be worn together and must overlap by at least 20 cm. The fabric is flame retardant, meaning it will stop burning as soon as the flame source is removed. Additional partial body protection may be required, e.g. for welding overhead. Garment is intended to protect against brief inadvertent contact with live parts of an arc welding circuit. Additional layers will be required where there is an increased risk of electric shock. An increase in the oxygen content of the air will reduce considerably the protection against flame. Care should be taken when welding in confined spaces. Electric Arc IEC/EN 61482:2007 Workwear certified in compliance with EN 61482-1-2 protection against electric arc. For personnel working in vicinity of high-voltage conducting facilities at risk of arc electric explosions. The temperature of an electric arc can reach thousands of degrees, hence it is important that garments are flame retardant. Both fabric and garments in Synfiber’s flame retardant series are tested for protection against electric arc in compliance with the norm. Unlined garment class 1 (4kA), lined garment class 2 (7kA). Recommendations for use may vary from the above. HIGH VISIBILITY EN 471:2003+A1:2207 All garments have care instructions, and it is important that these are followed carefully. Be particularly aware that gar- ments made of fluorescent material can become discoloured and lose their properties if these instructions are not followed. Classification This garment complies with the requirements concerning ample visibility in exposed situations under all sorts of lighting conditions. The upper number placed to the right of the EN-label indicates the class of protection for the garment and the lower number specifies the effect of the retro reflective material. X: Classification of the fluorescent fabric and retroreflective fabric’s area (max. class 3). Y: Classification of the reflective material’s effect (max. class 2). Minimum area per m² garment: Class 3: 0.80 m² fluorescent fabric and 0,20 m² retro reflective material Class 2: 0,50 m² fluorescent fabric and 0,13 m² retro reflective material Class 1: 0,14 m² fluorescent fabric and 0,10 m² retro reflective material Classification is specified inside the product.
